thx for the video! please tell us something aboutt your slyder setup =)
Looks like a winner, love it.
I have the S35 version. The 65mm. It really is incredible. Top to bottom Laowa knocked it out the park with this one! Great video by the way. Love the shots! 👍🏿
Thank you. They take work and there free so I appreciate that.
Hi. Nice review. Definitely looking at this lens for my set up. Can I ask what slider you use?
Looks fabulous, thanks for the great review. I was going to go for the Irix 150 T3 Macro, but this looks more versatile to me. The Irix is amazing for macro close ups, but for mid-distance shots it seems the focussing is extremely difficult as the bulk of the focus throw is for near focus. How's your experience with the Laowa been for focussing at mid-longer distances?
I'm curious if there's any focus ring backlash on macro shots with this lens?
Asking because I own an EF non-cine version of the lens, and it has a looot of focus play. Setting keyframes or marks for FIZ motors never work precisely with it. I love the lens though, and if the cine version fixes this issue, then I guess I'll have to upgrade :)
What is the difference between this lens and the other 100mm f2.8 lens?
Wondering the same
Yeah same question, you mean the other Laowa 100mm that's half the price, right? The non-cine version? Ive been looking for a comparison of that
There is no deference besides the housing.
So your focus your focus throw will be longer and a lot easier for motors etc.
@@UpHillCinema on the newer one you mean? So you are saying the upgrade to the cine version is worth it?
got it so for photography it is pretty much the same this cine lense and the non cine version quoted above the 2.8? Just asking because I associated the price hike with perhaps better optics? Turns out it is then just optimized for cine?@@UpHillCinema
Can a macro lens help you get detailed close ups on shoe sized objects with the camera moved back from the subject? I'm basically trying to get close up shots of me building and prototyping with my hands, but I want the camera out of the way and not right up in the work space. Would this work well for that?
Awesome video btw can I use this with my bmpcc ?
Yes, just make sure you get the EF mount.
What dolly/slider system are you using on this video ? And what mechanical head ? Looks
Awesome 😊
Axibo PT4 system. It’s amazing. More to come on that.
How would you compare this to, say, the Sony 90mm Macro 2.8 for video purposes? I am in the market for my first macro style lens for video purposes and the cost of these two (the cine version 100 and the Sony) are essentially the same price. Both come in Sony full frame E mount, and I hear great things about the OSS and auto focus in the Sony, but this Laowa cine version seems to be fine with skill.
The sony will be sharper thats for sure. But I dont like the overly sharpened look. So that why I like these. Also, the sony is a photo lens, so the focusing is terriable for manuel focus set ups. So thats a hard quesion.
Just to be confirmed that this laowa lens is a manual focus lens, right?
I think Laowa needs to focus os delivering what they promised before pushing new products. I ordered a set of nanomorphs almost four months ago and I am still waiting. When I ha questions before placing the order they responded to my emails within minutes. When I email them to ask where my lenses are they just don't respond to my emails.
That’s a reasonable request for sure. Hopefully they get them to you soon.
