- I've had my GTD for just over 8 years at time of filming and I was curious to see how much I've saved, or not, after working out all of my running costs and depreciation etc.

Good video Mike ! Yes please keep them coming 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it and yes more to come soon 😊
also as a buyer id happily pay you the asking price as it being a one owner cared for honest car. you cant lose
Very interesting video, shows it is best to buy a car and keep it as long as possible, if you find a good 1 year old is even better. The dealers and mags will say lease or pcp but the old way of buy and then part exchange can't be beaten.
Thank you and totally agree.
Great video. Still amazed by how many people lease. It's eye watering over the long term
Thank you! Leasing is super popular it seems.
Big difference now is that a GTD costs c£36k with 1k miles on it. Crazy how much they’ve increased!
I know, it is crazy! Also, when I had a look at the VW website recently a similar lease is at around £440p/m. Thanks for watching.
Interesting analysis. I’ve just bought a 4 year x3 and a 9 year old yeti and had wondered if it was the right way to go about things. I tend to buy and keep for 10 years so as long as there is value left in the car then it’s all good. I’ve kept a mk5 gti but now it’s 19 years old it’s pretty crazy how much stuff has gone wrong with it
Thanks for your comment. The good thing with buying an older car is that your depreciation curve won't be as nasty as with a newer car. It's an 'each to their own' with cars I believe. I'd keep the GTi if you can - maybe it will go up in value one day :)
4 services over 8 years, that's really bad😢
Great video, I personally always liked have a choice of owning my cars, with or without financing would depend on the price but still.
Thank you! A bit a finance can help sometimes. Thanks for watching.
awesome video video
Thank you, really appreciate that! And thanks for watching.
Never been a fan of leasing tbh. In particular VW's cheap finance deals on Golf R's which made the car obtainable for those who wouldn't normally afford them. As a result there are an abundance of Golf R's with shady history and have probably cast a negative effect on insurance premiums too!
I'm at the age where you buy what you can afford - not what you want to afford.
PS: my servicing costs and tyre cost would make your eyes water (DSG service, LSD service) 😆 (but I am a fastidious owner - the car [Mk7.5 GTI Performance DSG] wants for nothing) 🤣
Great car you're looking after there, thanks for watching 🙂
Great video thank you very informative
The resent review on the mk8 GTD is overall excellent. Take a look at volkswizard mk8 golf gtd. in all honesty the mk7 golf gtd is excellent you have a honest well looked after example. Great episode
Thank you for the comment, appreciate it. I like the idea of the dynamic chassis control option on the Mk8.
Very high quality and informative video. :)
Thank you!
I find that leasing a car is i no no with myself...You do not own the car...Buying outright gives me the satifaction of knowing what i have to budget for on maintence and running costs . Purchased a used GTD from VW Inchscape .2 years warrinty ,Mot + Roadside assistance..(This also gives me peace of mind.)..I assume its upto the individual on making the decision on the money aspect..
For me it's nice not to have £x coming out the bank every month and the longer you keep the car the more of a case for not leasing I reckon. Thanks for watching.
Great video apart from the sound - it's really quiet (the adverts are twice as loud!).
Oh, that's odd, thanks for letting me know.
