Chris is absolutely the best. This song rips your heart out. I've been there I know how difficult depression is. It's the most alone feeling in the world and all the love and support doesn't make it better. It was the lowest I had ever felt in my life. It's the worst feeling in the world.
57 years old and I cry every time. I guess I get some kind of weird thing off watching persons review to it. I left my job as a State Trooper years ago. I will never forget when one of our officers showed up at a fatal scene. It turned out he lost his wife and one child. One child survived. I was younger and just starting out with my wife and kids. I had to fold my cards. Now working a much more quiet executive protection position.
This song, ocean and just a dream have me ugly crying every time.

You seem to really understand what mental illness is about. Not many people do. You are right it is in the mind but so much more than that as well. It is impossible to really understand if you have never been through it but being open to hear it all without judgement is an indispensable quality.

I have seen this video dozens of times, and I ache each time. Thanks, Chris, for bring awareness to mental health issues. I have to comment on the video depicting a police officer as the husband who is desperately trying to save his wife. I was in the Army, and I’m a retired police officer. The men I served with and worked alongside with were involved with partners with these types of issues in frightening high numbers. The desire they had to protect and save wasn’t just in their career choice. Unfortunately, their relationships often ended badly, and tragically.
My mom is a type 2 bipolar. That’s the version with depression being the primary symptom but her manic episodes hospitalized her twice. My childhood was a volatile time for us both. She’s only accepted meds the twice she was hospitalized. She does not acknowledge that there’s anything wrong. She comes from a generation and a family that considers metal illness to be a failing of character. It’s taken years to understand her and forgive her for not acknowledging there was a problem and that it shaped the way I used to deal with my own depression. I know the video centers on a romantic couple but the first time I heard it was just the song and lyrics. Momma was the first and only face in my mind. Today I will do anything to help her through her pain. The power of Chris Stapleton’s lyrics and delivery are unmatched. That he and his team wanted to drive home the reality of mental illness to the demographic that most denies its existence swelled and broke my heart. This is top of the list of songs I can’t listen to in public.
My husband had bipolar depression. He took his life after 34 years of marriage. He got out of his misery but he destroyed mine , and my sons life.
I cry everything I watch this. I suffer from depression so I know how hard it is sometimes for my partner.

That "up n here" you feeling is precisely what Cris wants to convey. Awareness for mental depression. He's lost a friend from that. Any type of depression is living hell. You try to control it & it gets outa hand. Like going down under water & swimming to get out. Not fun. So, my friend, be aware & spread the word that mental depression isnt to be ashamed about.
What people need to understand is life is a struggle everyday for everyone dealing with different issues, the the important thing is someone has been through it ! Don’t shut people out ! Your loved ! Open up !

You got the main point right away. The man is there for her no matter how much pain is involved. What no reactor I’ve watched has noticed though is that she hasn’t lost her battle yet. She is in the hospital hooked up to machines at the end of the video, and he is still by her side. Unconditional love.

@@ToneyReactions No ... if you listen carefully the doctors call the time of death before they walk out of the room. "We're losing her!" "Time of death, 1:17." So incredibly sad since it is real life for too many.
My daughters father took his own life almost 6 years ago. It still feels like it was yesterday sometimes. My now 12 year old daughter, she was six when it happened, has just found out that he took his own life and it is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. My daughters broken heart. Smh. I just wish he would have called me. It was the only time I wasn't there to save him from himself. 15 years of saving him.

I was first diagnosed with severe depression around 2010... after 3 suicide attempts and several 51/50 holds I was diagnosed with severe bipolar depression ... not a fun life to live, I have 3 kids and still want off this earth every day... I have short periods when I happy like 2 or 3 days but that's about it, it always flips on me and I'm back to the beginning... this hit me hard... my fiancee watched this with me and walked away crying
I have a hundred or more huge scars on me from cutting the shit out of my self to the point I no longer take my shirt off because I just look like I fell on a cheese grater, not sure why I'm sharing but this review brings me out and makes me want to say what I deal with everyday, first time I knew I wanted to die I was 9 , I'm now 39 and feel almost the same but maybe even more now even though I have a grwat woman that loves me and a son we made together plus 2 daughters one is a full on adult... all these things can't change the way I'm wired

This is where his country and his wife’s beautiful harmonies come together.
