My why is that as a nurse in a large hospital, I realize how preventable most disease is. I refuse to spend the last 10 to 20 years of my life in and out of hospitals. It is a powerful why......

My why is sleep, though I also went from size 20 to size 12. I no longer need benzodiazepines to sleep, and I relied on them for 16 years. It took me 3 and a half years to wean to almost nothing, and then three weeks after I started eating high fat, high protein, low carb, I started sleeping without needing medicine and without a tub full of supplements! I go eat some butter in the middle of the night if I need it. Thank you Jesus!

My why is because I have been obese since childhood. This was in the 50’s and 60’s when EVERYONE was super slender. I have taken so much verbal and psychological abuse (even from my own mom) regarding this. I really stood out in public. The ridicule was constant and painful. I have spent most of my adult life at about 280. My highest weight was 310. I am now down to 180. I no longer feel self conscious, and I no longer feel like I stand out in a crowd (partly because almost everyone is fat now). I WILL conquer this demon. 32 pounds to go. 💜

My why is because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I’ve now lost 60 pounds in 6 months on ketovore and one meal a day. I’m hiking to the top of a mountain I hadn’t been able to reach in 12 years. My next goal after 30 more pounds is to fly. I want to tandem paraglide! Looking better is an additional bonus, but feeling 20 years younger is priceless!

Dr Boz, im gonna have to say, these things are definitely working. I'm just looking at you over the past few years. You definitely look like you're turning your clock backward. This "Why" approach may be helping since you put less stress on yourself and your worries. I know i tell you this alot, but thank you again for saving me from a horrible future. The keto( I lean more toward carnivore now) instructions you gave me have made me so healthy. No more medicine, no more joint pain. I cannot thank you enough. Keep doing what you're doing.

Keep realistic expectations. Don't use Dr. Boz's youthful as an example of what the carnivore diet will do for YOU. She has had treatments for her skin. I'm not criticizing her at all. Just giving you a heads up that while the way you eat is very, very important, by itself, your way of eating alone can't give you her facial improvements.

My motivation was that at 310lbs I struggled to put my socks on. It was such a simple task and I felt useless. I hit 261lbs yesterday! I lowered carbs and fat and total cals to -500. I still eat whatever, just not seed oils and I eat less of the bad.

I’m sitting with this as I’ve struggled to stay the course after dropping 50 lbs doing keto and IF last year. I thought I knew my whys arthritic hip, avoiding hip replacement surgery, mental clarity, improved self esteem, energy, mobility, wearing cool clothes. I think I gotta go deeper to find out why I self sabotage. Sincerely, Thank You!

Thanks for this, Doc. I'm in my late 50's, and watched my dad live a life of excess drinking and smoking, then die at 67. I've never smoked, I've stopped drinking at all (about 15 years ago) and am working to make my diet and overall health better. Your books and videos are an inspiration, and this was a timely message.

My why: At COVID time frame, I was 285 lbs. and was for many years prior. When I got severe COVID, I was put in the hospital with high flow oxygen, tubes, probes, hurting to breathe, CONFINED to a bed, can't use the bathroom well.....then to the nursing home. One month in the hospital, one month in a nursing home. Same problem, confined to a bed, oxygen machine, can't breathe well. LOST 50 plus pounds quickly. Didn't want to eat during that time. Complete wasting away of muscles and fat. Physical therapy came in and I built back up. After seeing I was at 220 lbs., I was like "Why not keep the weight off, even going lower?". Once I weened off the oxygen machine and got a little stronger, I decided to eat healthier, run and get on a rowing machine. NOW, I run every day, except Sundays, I run 3.25 miles a day, sometimes going to 5 miles. I'm at 189 lbs.
I didn't want to be confined to a bed one day, on permanent cycle of meds, diabetes, limbs being cut off, put in a nursing home, don't want to be huge anymore. PS: Those nursing home nurses....don't care. You are a bother to most of them and they are indifferent. Not all of them of course, but a lot of them. I'm done with all that. I used to miss fried foods, fast foods, candy (of all types-especially Snickers!!!), IHOP pancakes and omlets.....on and on. Can't do it anymore. Won't do it anymore. Now, cravings aren't there that used to make me run to these yummy foods. It will also strike up conversations when people want to know why I can't eat like they are. People see me now and can't believe what they are seeing. That's always fun too!!!!!!!

My why? I lost my mom last July from complications of Alzheimer's. It runs strongly through the maternal line of my family and I do not want my husband and children to have to go through with me what we just went through with my mom. Seeing the correlation (and the studies) of IR and dementia is more than enough for me to stay keto for the rest of my life. I started keto on 1/1/2024 and in the 13 months my weight has dropped, I have WAY more energy, and I feel so clear headed.

    Dr Boz
The highs and lows really brought out emotions for me. I’m 68, I grew up using food to comfort and numb. I was diagnosed with ADHD twenty years ago and Ive tried ALL meds but nothing helps. So now I really understand how the impulsivity and Dopamine lack has contributed to overeating.
A few years ago I did lose 40 lbs., but, I gradually gained it back. So far I can’t seem to get into a groove to be consistent.
I am looking into the newest Ozempic/GLP1 meds. I soooo want to be back in the healthy zone with my body. I want to feel great, and truly live for the next 20 or so years.

My why, is that my grandpa has dementia, my dads developing it, and I’m gonna get it if I don’t try to prevent it. I originally thought that my why was that I wanted a better body. And I do, but maybe I care about my later future more than my body, it could be a 50/50. I want to get healthy and stay healthy for the rest of my life so I don’t end up like my dad. Having dementia in your genes is something that doesn’t leave your mind very easily.

A complete lifestyle change is sometimes needed, or at the very least eating habits should be a major priority, I've lost 25lbs in four months by cutting out all processed foods, no sugar ( I use no more than one teaspoon of pure honey as a sweetner per day now) reduced salt intake to an absolute minimum, reduce carb intake to 40 per day and pay very close attention to labels ( dietry requirements). Excercise is an issue because of arthritis, but doing the best you can is better than nothing.

Hello, Doctor. I just subscribed and love your work! I do have a question. I am 55 years old and had stents back in 2015. We have a family history of heart disease. My older sister had 1 100% blocked artery, and my older brother just had 2 stents. Both of them eat the average American food. Lost my dad when he was 50. I have been on carnivore for 2 years and have had great results. Lost the weight that needed to be lost. Gained muscle mass, and I now have a flat stomach. NO MORE BELLY! So, should I be concerned with eating all this meat?
    Kind regards,

I've done keto before, then I stopped and had blockage in my arteries and needed a stent put in. I was told that keto may have caused or worsened the blockage. Is it safe for me to do keto again? I'm asking because now they have found a nodule on my lung, so I want to start keto in case it mat be cancer. does anyone have any experience with a situation like this?

My husband and I are struggling to find a professional who supports/understands Keto to oversee our health. Does anyone have a suggestion or resource to locate someone?

There are plenty of videos on UA-cam on how to start Keto and what you should be eating. Just type 'staring Keto' or 'Keto recipes' in the search area.

There are so many inadequacies of the physician and hospital systems that I am forced to spend time, effort, and money (more of each than I would like) to be able to guide a better health journey formyself.

Actually it's Shawn Baker MD. KenDBerryMD is taking patients also. My favorites include: Anthony Chaffee MD, Ben Bickman, Dr Eric Westman, Dr Robert Cywes, and Dr Sten Ekberg. Of course, Dr Boz.

@@Katie-wn3kg I think the Saving Humanity folks (referring to the documentary currently in production) have a resource for people looking to find local Keto/Carnivore understanding local providers.
Notice I did not say that they advertise being keto/carnivore focused.
Apparently they can’t publicly do that or they risk the wrath of those that are control and they may lose their licenses or practices as a result. Hopefully this will change soon under a new US administration.
This is what makes it so difficult to find what you need

IMPORTANT INQUIRY!!! I would send you an email if I could find. I hope this comment reaches you, hope your channel maintenance folks grab the inquiry!
How do the calories from ADDITIVES SUCH AS STARCH, GLYCERINE, etc, in SUPPLEMENTS and ROUTINE PRESCRIPTION pills/CAPSULES Interfere with intermittent fasting? Will the ADDITIVES PREVENT AUTOPHAGY FROM FASTING? I have not found this matter addressed.
From 69 RN in Texas, on keto in second year. I need effective fasting and daily keto for CVD, possible PD and early breast cancer!!
