    • @tomatodamashi
      @tomatodamashi 2 роки тому +1

      It's not as simple as that. Let's say you oust Assad, then what? Either the country becomes a puppet/client state of america i.e Iraq. If the citizens elect a person the US doesn't like, America steps in to change it aka al-Maliki. That or the country descends into chaos aka Libya. Not to mention the loss of innocent lives that are caused by the invasion required to remove said government. You cannot leave a power vacuum unfilled, and the worst sorts will be the first to step in to fill it.

    • @ehabs07
      @ehabs07 2 роки тому

      @@tomatodamashi I agree. It’s not as simple as that. I wish it were. But it just sucks when, as a Syrian, I am gaslit about the origins of my conflict, by someone who hasn’t probably even left the US, as if they know more about Syria than Syrians do.
      Most disturbingly, I hate it when some, particularly among the out of touch regressive left and far right, portray the Assad’s as this civilized family that Syria doesn’t deserve better. They can govern by decree, because they market themselves as this secular entity that is the only safety valve against theocracy, and the protectors of minorities.
      The truth is that ever since they took power (Assad took power through a coup within a coup), they consolidated their grip on Syria through a circle of bureaucrats and thugs, mostly aligned by blood (from the same part of Syria), sectarianism (mostly Alawites), and naked selfish interests. To the outside world, they say they’re pro minorities (since they’re a minority themselves), unless you happen to disagree with them, in which case you can be a communist Christian and they’ll call you an Islamist (like this activist who they keep throwing in prison).
      And their poison doesn’t respect borders. Lebanon’s woes right now can be traced to the Assad regime and its alliance to Iran, which wants Lebanon to become a colony of it in its Cold War against Saudi Arabia. Lebanon right now is quickly becoming a Yemen. Did Assad care about the multi sectarian nature of Lebanon (a country of minorities rather than one majority)? Of course not. The most punished by Hezbollah (i.e. those who are only accountable to Syria and Iran) are the Lebanese Christians, Sunnis, and Druze. Even Shia Lebanese who are having buyers’ remorse for buying what hezbollah and Assad were selling have to tow the line or else.

They've been doing it to Cuba for decades, and most recently on Venezuela as well. For all of Assad's faults, he HAS to be better than ISIS and al Qaeda (and its offshoots) - some of which are backed by America.
      In my opinion, and I say this as a laymen looking in at a situation of which I do not know all the details, Assad is a far sight better than the alternatives at the moment. Changes that comes from within the population are slow but sturdy ,and more importantly lasting. Change that is foisted upon a nation is no more then a deck of cards. Proof can be seen in the current state of Afghanistan after 20 years of occupation and western "influence". The West would just as well see the Assad dictatorship replaced by a pro-American dictatorship...and what would that serve? How would trading one dictator for another help the population in the slightest?
      I understand your grievances with Assad's leadership, you've explained them very well, but I don't see any solutions...if there are any

      @@tomatodamashi Yeah because Assad imprisoned, tortured, and killed everyone who would make a better leader than himself. I’m talking about Syrian intellectuals who have leadership skills, good connections to the Syrian and international community, and higher education. I guess that’s one way to stand above the rest. I can list you the names of people who could have led the Assad regime killed but it will be a long one. There are also many more Syrians who can lead Syria (it is a country of 20 million people) but many are too afraid of his and his regime’s terror tactics on them and their families.
      As for the embargo on Syria, none of that exists. The ports and airports in Syria are still working. It’s just that the governments the Assad regime have chosen as allies (namely Russia and Iran) are only interested in using Syria as an exclave colony. Iran in particular, has a particularly bizarre interest in colonizing Syria because they believe that since it was once part of a Persian empire, it should be in the sphere of influence of Iran. And Assad agreed to nationalize many Iran loyal Shiite Iraqis and even Iranians to change the demographics of Syria, where these colonizers actively take over villages and homes and never leave, often protected by the Syrian military. Our home in my hometown is now the residence of so called “Iranian savior comrades,” and we couldn’t even lay sight on it since 2012.
      If you are talking about sanctions, then that’s a different story. I should point out to you that sanctions are a legal way of punishing somebody. And the sanctions the US and Europe imposed on the Syrian regime have been debated in democratically elected parliaments and voted for then enacted into law. The US and Europe have the right to not do business in countries they feel the regimes of are horrid. And yes that will have a toll on the Syrian public, but oftentimes totalitarian regimes resort you this talking point so they can criticize the sanctions. Of course they can find alternative trading partners, but they don’t want that, and they know their allies in Iran and Russia don’t care about building inroads with the Syrian people as they do building an outpost for their regional power.
      A good example of that is the Syrian regime aligned Lebanese government. Lebanon tonight will plunge into darkness due to the country running out of fuel, causing long power outages. The government can take the offers of many European and Gulf state governments to provide the much needed relief for Lebanese people, but they don’t want to (not before they can secure their slice of the pie). Just to give you a small example about how corrupt third world country leaders manufacture and prolong crises for their political gains, often blaming the west when it’s they who are running their countries to the ground.

      As for Cuba and Venezuela, your argument repeats the same debunked talking points about their failed government policies. The Cuban embargo does not include essential supplies like food and medications. And the Cuban government enjoys a good relationship with many of the governments you call puppet states of the US. Justin Trudeau, for one, has a good relationship with the Castros and eulogized Fidel Castro. His father, also PM of Canada, used to visit Cuba on vacation. Cuba also has other countries that it can do trading with, including ones that would enhance businesses for Cubans. But they only want businesses for their buddies in the higher government of echelons, while keeping a population of Cubans poor and dependent on government welfare.

      Because the CCP (the big brother of the communist countries today) helped Cuban regime cut off Cubans communication to the world.

    If we “free” Cuba I’m concerned China will use it as precedent to “free” Taiwan….

    •  2 роки тому +1

      I like the plan to just provide Internet to the people and have the Cuban government calling that an act of terrorism or something
      Also, China isn't waiting for an excuse to invade Taiwan, they're waiting for an opportunity. They don't just invade that island right now because they lack the capacity to do so.

      That's literally the precedent the Globalist American Empire set though. How can you not notice this? The GAE invades other countries and kills thousands of innocent people, supports evil regimes in the Middle East while claiming to spread democracy by toppling regimes that don't support them. The rampant hypocrisy doesn't go unnoticed on the world stage, and of course with China getting stronger, it's inevitable. Taiwan inhabitants are literally ethnic Chinese, so annexation of Taiwan by the CCP has more justification than the US Iraq War.

      @@f-86zoomer37 I was unaware we were making the comparison. Seems to me Iraq originally invaded Kuwait… now just because I pointed that out, don’t paint me to approve of the whole weapons of mass destruction debacle.
      The Taiwanese people say different than you.
      The Cuban people are calling out for help.
      Taiwan would be invaded by a dictatorship.
      Cuba would be liberated from one…
      Your agenda is showing…
