I'm surprised it's not Hong Kong due to being a tech&trade and self sustaining region. 3 - Stockholme - Another good choice since it's the biggest in the region designated, at odds with St. Petersburg. However it's iconic role in the story does make it better suited as the capital. 4 - Calais or Brussels? I find it super bizzare that Mega City 4 seems to be Calais since it's the closest to where the point is, but I imagine that a megacity could encompass easily the whole region. 5 - Jerusalem of Tel Aviv - I assume that it's meant to be more of a megacity that encompasses the area as the dot does look closer to Cairo too. I imagine maybe it's a hive city in how big it is? 6 - Buenos Aires - Definately a Starship Troopers reference. 7 - New York - This one is to be expected from the tech&trade hub there. Not bad choices for world building.
I suspect Shanghai was chosen because it's *already* a vast, sprawling city, and that trend is only likely to continue in the future. Sometimes you go with the megacity you have, rather than the megacity you'd *like* to have.
i am confused, hong kong is a self sustain city? we are only a fking island that rely heavily on import, beijing or shanghai would make a better choice, the mainland are full of fertile land and theres already have mega cities on top of rivers/electric dams
Hong Kong gets all supplies imported - food, water, you name it, there is no possibility for self-sustainability. As for trade, Super Earth took care of everything. I would say the unification definitely got helped from some crucial members from both American and Chinese governments, so has to take care of their interest. Geographically, Shanghai is the hub to the 2 main rivers of China, while Hong Kong is not. IF the Super Earth is being a completely neutral governor, the best land of East Asia would be the Yangtze River Delta Shanghai is located in. The reason why Hong Kong is advanced than Shanghai is mainly caused by politics, not geography. The British didn't take Hong Kong as the best land of China - they merely took a harbor and made it great compared to communist mess.
Shanghai is many times denser in than Hong Kong. It is not only a tech hub, it is also an economic hub. Hong Kong is also too far south. Plus the twin cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen are Hong Kong but much much better.
Yeah, apparently my AI didn't vote for him, my predetermined vote was Robo Stalin, but upon reflection that's just a dumb choice, I mean the guy doesn't even live in Prosperity City, still voted for Senator Killjoy again this year, and General Brasch, but apparently I also voted for a Senator Armstrong for managing the Ministry of military industry.
I wasn't sent here for dissidence or thought crime. I volunteer every month alongside my gloriously free family. 5 of my sons and a daughter are already Helldivers like their father and their 6 older brothers and sisters already died in the front to defend our democracy. I'm sure they're watching this with us in our hearts.
A joke!? what do you mean? obviously it's the most logical backstory they could come up with. Who would have formed super-earth otherwise!? America!? Lol!!! xD that would'a been silly! ;)
In Starship Troopers it was a group of veterans in Scotland who created the federation so this is fitting. Enough of this China, US or Russia stuff thats boring as all hell
As an Irish person, I can confirm that judging by Ireland's past predicaments and horrendous luck, it's extremely fitting that Ireland would get caught in the crossfire (again, like the Great Irish Famine, both World Wars, etc) one last time as they accidentally get hit by a missile intended to hit another country. As a neutral country, it's likely that this happened in the Helldivers universe.
But you are a failure to Super Earth, for disrespecting a piece of Super Earth's past. Even though they weren't democratic. Please remember that they technically played a part in the formation of democracy due to the war. Due to your failure, your Super Destroyer's systems have been disabled and a Democracy Officer is rapidly approaching with SEAF soldiers to take you to a Freedom Camp. Resisting will result in death.
*terrible Go ahead, report me to your Democracy Officer. I have strong connections with Deep Rock Galactic. A place that Super Earth literally cannot access.
Imagine a system of managed democracy but it isn't sold as... satire. The computers know you so well they handle a lot of decisions for you... correctly. Sometimes dystopia's fail to happen.
It does make sense, as most ICBM would fly over the northpole and be intercepted there. UA/RUS border is self explanatory und UK probably blew it self up between sharia, scotland, ireland, welsh and english.

Living in Buenos Aires i always like to wake up and hear the sweet sounds of democratic gunfire. My house is in a close distance to a Helldiver training camp, and i always try to pass by and salute our fellow soldiers that fight for freedom!
Its weird because the first game really strongly implied that Super Earth was not Old Earth, so either they terraform each planet they turn into Super Earth a **LOT** to make it look like Old Earth, or they retconned that.
@@tarantolopictures481The implication in the first game was that they just found a new planet and named everything after Earth. It wasnt really the original solar system or Earth or anything. @@therandomcommenter6629The implication was always that the very first Super Earth from Helldivers 1 was already not Old Earth. @@tetraxis3011I just learned that France used to have a cultural practice of catching wild birds and stuffing them into jars filled with liquor, with said birds still being alive and completely unaltered, and these birds would die in these jars as they drowned in the liquor, then after a while they would take these birds out and cook them whole. Finally, they ate the entire bird by shoving it into their mouth whole using one hand and using another hand to pick the bird bones out of their mouth. Say what you want about UK food, but we didn’t have a lot of good stuff to actually make good food with. The French had plenty of ingredients to make good food and still choose to eat things like slugs and entire birds.

My (Un)educated guess is that they'll introduce the Illuminids with a surprise attack on earth. I've watched a video of a dataminer who apparently found a map titled super earth. I dunno if that's true since I take every info that doesn't come from arrowhead themselves with a grain of salt - or several tablespoons full of salt - I can imagine the occasion for a super earth battle has to be pretty damn special.
Unclear as to how it will happen just yet, but we can clearly see that 'Super Earth' can be highlighted and viewed as a sector with it's own liberation rating (currently at 100%). That suggests there is the possibility that the war can go so bad that human can be pushed back there! Even better, as you point out, the devs could advance the story and content by showing us get slowly pushed back towards Super Earth with major updates or each new year and efforts to maintain managed democracy becoming increasingly desperate, and that would be how they open up new areas (specifically, the systems between our current fronts in the automaton and Terminid home systems and Super Earth), which is a way more interesting approach to advancing the story than just expanding outwards 😄
Not to be a little critical, but from the map that was shown. Romania and Moldova don't seem to be in the Wasteland Zones. More likely there seems to be parts of Ukraine, Russia in that Zone. That large body of water is the Black Sea and both Romania and Moldova are on the western and north-western side of the sea.
Relegating entire continents as "sectors" makes sense when you consider the faster than light travel and orbital thrusters on your warship. The speed of travel would essentially shrink the scale of an entire planet to something akin to commuting and navigating around a city.

The whole Sweden thing sounded unrealistic, then I remembered that Arrowhead is a Swedish company.

Its weird because the first game really strongly implied that Super Earth was not Old Earth, so either they terraform each planet they turn into Super Earth a **LOT** to make it look like Old Earth, or they retconned that.
I mean it’s still in the solar system so I’d assume it’s the old earth
@@tarantolopictures481The implication in the first game was that they just found a new planet and named everything after Earth. It wasnt really the original solar system or Earth or anything. Yeah! We should have lost France as well.

Finally, they ate the entire bird by shoving it into their mouth whole using one hand and using another hand to pick the bird bones out of their mouth.

It would be cool if eventually we could fight on super earth cities. And based on the map it might have its own sectors.

It's clear 90% of people here have never played the original game lmao. There were plenty of wars we lost there, fighting on Super Earth at the end
Im guessing the wasteland zone are glowing seas ( a sea of radiation that is 100x more radioactive than Chernobyl).
I didn't like how the sectors are divided. But after undergoing re-education, I know much better than to question our glorious unified divisions
Not to be a little critical, but from the map that was shown. Romania and Moldova don't seem to be in the Wasteland Zones. More likely there seems to be parts of Ukraine, Russia in that Zone. Yeah I agree in hindsight, I think the line runs with the border of Ukraine
