    Nice to see a used bike an not a show pony. I'm thinking of buying one, but nearly all the reviews are a year or more old, some i checked out have already sold them on. I'm hoping to get some feedback of long termers. Hope you're still as happy as when you first got the bike. Many thanks for the vid. 👍

      Hi and I am as happy now as when I first run the bike in and made some changes mostly to get the sound I wanted and run a bit better - removed the cat and fitted a free er flow stubby silencer and a DNA filter, I raised the gearing a tooth to 16t gearbox and if you can live with a 70mph top speed which I can then you will love this wee bike which is full of character and makes me smile every ride, I got loads more films planned so feel free to subscribe and follow and leave comments 👍😁

      @@Coastriderscotland thanks for reply buddy... Actually I have been searching for the chrome grill which is installed on rear mudguard ( after removing seat) but seeing the one you have on tank made me ask the dealers and they have seen nothing like this. Probably get one custom made. Love the idea of using those suction pads btw. Loved ur video👍.

    I have watched a couple of other videos about changing to the 16-tooth front sprocket and they said that the difference was not worth the effort, so now I am not sure whether it is worth doing. It will be interesting to see how you get on with it, long term. I am sure you will mention it again in future videos 👍

      Hi Dave I’m finding I now ride the bike like a 4 speed around country roads and don’t select 5th until 50mph, if on big hills or strong headwinds I just leave it in 4th/change down to 4th, the bike will easily do 60 mph in 4th with out dressing the engine or hitting the rev limiter

      @@Coastriderscotland thanks for the update. I bought the 16t last year but for a variety of reasons didn’t get to install it on my meteor. Sounds like it is worth the effort. I’ll be tackling it as soon as the weather breaks.

      After 1200miles to the Rockies and back with luggage, I’m putting the 15 back. It puts the classic to the limit speed and keeps it there, whereas the 16t have to change gears unless you have wind behind you. It did seem the top speed was higher with 16t

    Hi there ! I am really enjoying your videos about this bike and the roads around your part of Scotland. I am from St.Andrews myself although have lived in Sicily for the past thirty years.
    I am curious to know if you tested the Himalayan or Scram before deciding on the Classic, as I am tying to decide which one would be best for me.
    Thanks 👍🙂

    • @Coastriderscotland
      @Coastriderscotland  Рік тому +5

      Hi David, i hankered after a Bullet for years but hesitated as some reliability horror stories etc, so when the Meteor was launched I thought if they do a classic bullet style with the same engine so I had not tested any other bikes and went on the hunch and opinions of early owners this bike would be ideal for myself, that would be for me!, and they did! I wanted a bike that looks old but starts on the button every time, no leaks etc and the new Classic is a dream engine, and now there is a choice of 3 bike styles with that gem of a wee engine, loads more films planned on the bike coming up! 👍😁

      Hi David,
      I tried the full Royal Enfield range, some of them more than once, and I really liked the Scram. I genuinely struggled to make my mind up, but because I'd always wanted a Bullet I went with the Classic 350.
      Maybe in the future I'll get a second hand Scram, because I honestly can't see me trading on the Classic because I love owning and riding it too much.
      If I hadn't promised myself a traditional Royal Enfield I would've went with the Scram in a heartbeat. It really is a brilliant bike. 👍

    Interesting video, very straight forward! Question, does this mod interfere with the speedo accuracy and I assume that this mod invalidates your warranty?

    • @Coastriderscotland
      @Coastriderscotland  Рік тому +2

      The raised gearing does not make the top speed any higher as that is restricted electronically by the ECU, what it does do is increase the speed to lower revs in each gear, now at 50mph it is lower revs and even more relaxing!

    • @BlueRidgeRider
      @BlueRidgeRider Рік тому +2

      Warranty issues change from one country to another. Not an issue in the US. The speedometer gets its input from the front wheel ABS sensor so it won’t impact your speedometer at all.

      Hi my Classic 350 averages 100 mpg with lowest mpg of 89 mpg, top speed is ECU limited to approx 73 mph, it feels good mid range acceleration and keeps with traffic on A roads ok
      It has an aftermarket free flowing air filter now which makes a big difference, along with a free er flowing exhaust, see my previous films in bike playlist for changes I have made,

    Top speed with 15-tooth sprocket is 74 m.p.h. Top speed with 16-tooth sprocket is 74 m.p.h. Local dealer indicated ECM limits speed to 74 m.p.h. Dealer indicates limit is on m.p.h., not r.p.m. This explains why I experienced no increase in top end speed. Lower r.p.m. at top end only makes for slightly better m.p.g., but not much due to staying in lower gears longer. Speed loss on an uphill grade more evident with 16-tooth. Unless there is a way to disable the speed limiter, this mod is not worth the money or the effort to do it.
