You could use those 4 inch grinding and polishing discs on an angle grinder to take out previous cut or grind marks. Use the 110 and 220 grit discs, Japanese made. I use them a lot for polishing old knife blades and old tools. Have fun!

Nice job. On the unmaked one ,you have the nut-bolt assembly backwards.
