- The fan trip was a "Farewell to the CNJ" trip put on with the cooperation of the tri-state area chapter of the NRHS, NJ Transit, and Conrail, and operated between Newark, NJ and Easton, PA after NJ Transit cut back commuter service from Phillipsburg to the current-day terminus of High Bridge on the Raritan Valley Line.

38 years later, it will never be the same.
My dad and grandfather saw those SD60 demonstrators at Jeff Junction where the D&H met Conrail in Susquehanna, PA. This line was used until 1986 for a tunnel clearance project at Tunnel, NY. Subsequently abandoned, but the fact that they saw these units probably a few days before this video on now abandoned track is mind blowing.
Holy crap. Unreal footage of that NJT trip. Man, I've only seen photos of the trip. But seeing actual video, plus seeing the train at spots like Greens Bridge, Bloomsbury, and Ludlow-Asbury just makes this video even more amazing! Thank you for sharing this!
Back when the SD60 demos were shining new with silver trucks.
Nice Video
Some of New Jersey Transit's E8s were old Southern Railway System units, sold after the road ended it's own passenger operations in the late 70s. Read that in Trains Magazine long back.
I loved the sound of those Uboats
We lived in the train tracks hopping them riding them walking the tracks my friend miguel lost his leg hopping one and i all most lost my life jumping from top of train into another one going on opposite direction , mi friend joel got his head mangled putting pennies on the track we would literally go under train as it was moving the craziest thing was making the train hop it shook the whole ground around thats what you do when you are young and dumb i crossed all them bridges
