A few of you have mentioned the music is a tad loud. Thanks for the feedback. Not making excuses but it happened this time as the kids were home earlier due to a half snow day. It was pretty loud here 😂 Next time I’ll make sure to mix audio when things have quieted down 😊

Thank you for addressing this. I hate to admit it but, the music did trigger a slight sensory response, Not really overload, but more a distraction (wanting to hear what the music was) than anything. That said, I am happy to say I think you have great content here. I might stick around and watch a few more of your videos. Very enlightening.
BTW, I am older, but recently found out that I was diagnosed on the Spectrum many years ago as a child, but was never told about it. (I recently found out when doing some research on an autobio project.) Many of my experiences in life are finally starting to make more sense to me now. It is kind of strange to find out that I have lived with this all my life and never knew about it. I keep saying, "If I had only known..."
Sorry for the long reply. Must be the writer in me coming out, LOL. Take care, and God bless you and the Family.

This is a great list! My mom actually got me a fidget spinner a few years ago to help with my autism, and while I don’t use it much, it does help sometimes when I do use it. My favorite toys growing up have always been stuffed animals and it’s probably due to that huge imagination some autistic people have and also due to a lot of tactile stimming I do. I’m glad you pointed out the need for sensory input because there’s a lot of autistic people out there that have days that they want that and a toy that lights up and stuff helps. I can’t wait for the next video!

I love, love, love sensory toys. I have a collection of them, including sensory brushes, my squeaky toys, my koosh balls, fidget cube, certain stones. I also love my sensory canoe, it also helps with my complex trauma. Swings are also a good thing for autistics. Another recommendation I would give is music. I absolutely love music. It helps me in so many ways.

I love how you said that sometimes those on the spectrum crave sensory input.
A few days ago I was craving to go to the store with my mom because it is a very sensory place. There are some days I can't handle a place like that but that particular day I was really needing something sensory so we went together and we smelled a lot of laundry detergent (One of my favorite things to do at the store.)

My son is 7, nonverbal and he cannot be quiet at all so that is awesome yall can all go to church, we tried going to baptists churches and it was always a disaster and not able to focus on the sermon when all eyes were on us so I don't think we will ever be able to go to a traditional church setting ever again but these are all cool toys liked this video for sure ❤️

You are not alone this is every church we've attended. We recently joined a mega church that has a special needs Sunday school room. The women running it are really fantastic and skilled at maintaining the room and teaching during the service.

My son likes the pop it toys but I would suggest, if you are buying for a friend or family member, that you confer with the parents/caregiver. Ethan loves to "mouth" various objects and we will find missing pop it sections where he's chewed them out. I particularly worry about that stretchy noodle as he will chew pieces off of those if we aren't careful. When he was younger he liked the spinning LED toys/wands RE: light up toys. His favorite ipad (on android too) game is Sandbox. User gets to color by number so it also allows for a learning opportunity identify names of colors. He particularly loves drawing his own pictures on sandbox freehand.

One of my favorites are sensory towers, often known by the brand name SensoryMoon. They come in a variety of sizes and prices. The main thing they do is run water in different forms. I have one that creates bubbles and one that is a water tornado. They also light up, and most come with remotes to change the color of the light.

Something I haven't seen in years and is a nice quiet-ish item for sensory light things is a kalidoscope. I'm on the spectrum and anything shiny gets my attention. Especially things like light shining though water droplets, shiney sparkly car paint some cars are covered with (the more expensive kind) . Even loved my View master for the same reason. My favourite was of a kingfisher hitting water, when you hare the light hit it just right.. I could stare at it for ages as a kid.

A note on the doodle board idea: there's a similar toy, not sure if this is the brand name or the general name, called a Boogie Board. It's a very similar concept (a portable pad and pen that can be erased with the click of a button) but even smaller and quieter! Most of the time it has a dark screen that colors green/white, so the colors are inverted (not sure if thats an issue or not, just mentioning it.)
I and my cousin are both on the spectrum, both of us love drawing, and the Boogie Board is a perfect thing for us to take with us to church to doodle on without carrying too much or making too much noise.

Here's one for you. My 6y old kid is very good at any video game, he can play or wander in 2D and 3D environments without any problem, I see his hands, his fingers move so fast and coordinated on controls and on the screen of the tablet/smartphones yet he still is so clumsy at writing and putting his shoes (among other things). This baffles me because, you know experts say, that he lacks coordination, and I would say, no, not at all but then I wonder how can I improve his other "basic" skills. I Hope you can make a video on the subject. Great informative video as always. Thanks for the recommendations.

i can't handle fidget spinners even though i love spinning things. but the stretchy noodle is in all of my backpacks and jackets. love them!
the pop pencilcase is cool i got a 1 pop thing that can be put on top of a pencil (just like a ruler) as an adult its a little more subtile then a whole pencil case :p
instead of a noisy toy with lights i have a projector and has different speeds and colors so i can adapt to what i need. (it has a music function but can be muted) maybe more suitible for most people?
instead of magnetic sand you can try to find a putty thats not slimy or very sticky. (playdough can sometimes give there color of on surfaces) you can create lot of figures just like clay or just squeeze and stretch it.

My 10 yr old Granddaughter in the Regular size Class room in the 4th r told my Granddaughter no mater what it is No Toys of any kind are allowed in . She had been at this school since Kindergarten, as each year went by it was getting worse with the students in her reg class figuring out what her Triggers are. because they'd mess with her in a way that the Teacher doesn't hear or see. The teach er ends up dealing with her Reactions. Social, she want's to have Friends so badly that she'll do what these sadly untaught in this manner . She'll have 1 maybe 2 girls that are "friends", then at recess her Friend will sometimes end up on the Bullies side. About 3 mths ago, those children and Sophie were going to play TAG. Well, they all ended up running after Sophie. She told the Principle about it [who is a watcher for Recess] and the Principle told her, 'Well, just don't play with them". When recess what over, Sophie was refusing to go back inside the school. This has been going on at least since 1st gr. They either deal with Sophie like she's a problem child & Down plays many many things. So the important things that need to be addressed for Sophie's needs are barely being met. I have stated that because of her Sensory overload and the kids in the reg class pulling her triggers and the teachers treating her like you better sit or your going to sit in a spot they've got in the class. 1 teacher told her that if your good for 1 week you can move closer to the front.

I personally don't find fight spinners helpful. I instead use a rubiks cube because it can be more active, or it can be a completely absent-minded fidget. If anyone draws inspiration off of this comment, try to do research on quieter cubes because people sometimes get annoyed when I use it too much

Not sure if this counts but my wife and I both have chewies. For me, I would bite down on them rather than biting my shirt collar. My wife uses her chewies, not for chewing but she'll suck on them like a pacifier
