The Vienna Morphing Trio is part of the larger Vienna Morphing Orchestra (VMO), which was founded in 2006 by its artistic director, Tomasz Wabnic. VMO’s philosophy is based on constant evolution-metamorphoses and modifications that lead to the search for new musical interpretations and the pursuit of performance perfection. The ensemble challenges itself with diverse projects and a wide range of repertoire, from classical to film, jazz to contemporary, chamber to symphonic and operatic - a realm in which they feel most at home, with the recent release of a CD, "Desire", together with international opera star Aleksandra Kurzak for Sony, having been widely acclaimed. A performance in summer 2020 with her and husband Roberto Alagna, livestreamed through the New York MET Opera, from the picturesque hills of the French Mediterranean coast, was a particular highlight of their endeavours thus far. On New Year's Eve, they are scheduled to perform through the MET once again, this time giving a gala concert with Angel Blue, Pretty Yende, Matthew Polenzani and Javier Camarena, four other notable and respected figures in the world of voice and opera.
_It is midnight, and I am halfway around the world from where this music was recorded, two years ago. Those who performed it will never know me, nor will those who transcribed it, reinterpreted it, recorded it, edited it, and posted it. Certainly Mr. J. S. Bach does not know me, but, due to grace and the wonder of technology (which can indeed be used for good), my living room is filled with beautiful sounds that stir my soul and warm my heart. And my wish is that they may they do the same for you, wherever you are._

This is one of the "gems" and masterpieces from the Trios. Bach really leaves you no superficiality or oversight here. Careful phrasing and yes bel canto, you should be singing each part. As a Violin, Oboe or Flute and Violincello would work as well for this masterwork. You really have to dissect each voice, the structure, dynamics and put them back together phrasing with the utmost care. Each voice counts.

Que buena adaptación. Amo a Bach y esta interpretación es relevante. El man del cello se parece a Dwayne Johnson. "The Rock", "La Roca". Anyway, it is really good the way they perform a piece which was not intended for a chamber orchestra or a trio. Love it so much

can't get enough of small ensemble performances of solo organ/piano arrangements of the masters.
Group playing with a small, manageable number of musical interlocutors. This is a magical space. And having played in saxophone quartets I can begin to understand it.
This group knows it can't perfectly emulate an organ, but there is a serious effort to preserve the organ "sound" from the strings that strive to some extent to emulate it.
Yet something new and beautiful is nevertheless brought to life and life is breathed into it by this trio.
I wonder if the transcriptionist thought of quartets, quintets or more instruments, and possibly to include one or more bass parts to really sock it to the listener with that earth quavering power of a first class organ?

I did not know that Michel Foucault was capable of appreciating beauty, let alone play Bach on the Cello by himself. I am sure that glasses are no coincidence.
wenn man sich Orgel Aufführungen aus den 60ger Jahren anhört, fällt auf, wie sehr sich die Einstellung zu dem Werk und Bach geändert hat. Früher ohne Emotionen wird das Werk heute eher "aufgeladen" gespielt. Nun verstehe ich Bach als einen Komponisten, der sehr vorsichtig mit dem äusseren Ausdruck ist und eher den Blick nach innen richtet - der uns einlädt nach innen zu schauen. ABER das braucht Zeit und Muße - das fällt uns oft schwer und da ist ein solcher musikalischer Gruß aus einer anderen Welt Gold wert.
