Hello people of Earth! I just found this channel. Amazing videos and pleasant voice of narrator. I hit the subscribe button) Holy cow! I hope there are no more black holes closer((( singularity scares
It's a 1,000 light years away. This distance is close in terms of space but it is unimaginably far away. Being only 5 times the mass of our sun, it is very little for black holes. The supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy is 4 million solar masses! Even at that mass, it would easily fit within the orbit of Mercury. If you replaced our sun with a 1 solar mass black hole, it would exert no more gravitational force than our sun. It would be weird though.
You can find it in Telescopium constellation, in the southern sky at about 19 hours right ascension and 50° south in declination. Here's a chart showing the exact location: www.eso.org/public/images/eso2007b/
The fact that it doesn't interact much and therefore appear 'truly black' makes it sound like a perfect villain. Mysterious, appearance unknown, hiding in plain sight.
The nearest black hole I can see is at 6.2085586e-17 light-year away, while one orb is at 5.6716022e-17 ly away and the other orb is at 5.705162e-17 ly away. Can you guess what I am looking at?
@@jimlongasa9132 let me embellish on that...a light year is the distance light travels in the vacuum of space in a Julian calendar year which is 365 days and in that time light will have traveled the distance of 5.8 trillion miles.
@@ferrisbueller5613 take a deep breath, look into your butt hole, it's impossible right? Because a black hole is very dark, you can't see it. You could probably see it because it looks like a mirror that is swirling. But light can't pass through it, so you can't see it.
@@Dubdsy that's stupid. We already have picture of blackhole, we cant see blackhole directly bit we can see it affect on the nearby object. I dont expect them to have another picture of blackhole so soon, but im saying that u are wrong and that butthole analogy is also wrong and disgusting
I think this is not right..!!! According to the data given 60 km/s, that's mean the distance between the centre of black hole and the centre of the star is only 33 Mkm...!!! That is very small space measurements, it is equal to less than 1/5 of the distance between the earth and the sun 🤔🤔🤔
It's impossible to take an optical image of this black hole because it's a stellar black hole without an accreting disk. It's just black and nothing is orbiting around it.

The black hole in the middle of our galaxy is 25,000 light years away in comparison to the new-found black hole which is only 1,000 light-years distant. Wormholes are currently only theoretical. They act as tunnels between a blackhole and a white hole.

@Floppy Orphan why are you getting pissy at this small comment

A thousand light years from Earth... whoah.. that's pretty close. Kinda scared me.
In astronomical terms it is close. But still, there's nothing to worry about!
But were dead because of old age before it hits
Its about 9 quad trillion years away so meh
Even moving at the speed of light this black hole won't reach Earth for 1,000 years so not in our lifetimes lol

I find it amazing we can even notice the 40 day orbit of the one star at 1,000 light years away. Great video and great discovery.

Yet, no detailed photos from the Moon. We see stars billions of light years away but not the american flag on the Moon.

One light-year is equal to 9,500,000,000,000 kilometers.
