Brilliant. I remember sometime ago about a study that showed men suffering back pain because they were sitting unevenly with one back pocket filled with an often overstuffed wallet. I have finally understood and conquered the sewing of the men's fly on pants and I am graduating from mock up to my first pair of pants for my husband. He's gonna have a surprise pocket! Thank you!

Reminded me of a documentary about a company that designs and produces clothes for people who rely on wheelchairs. Having pockets that are accessible while sitting was also a big part of the design.
Personally, I really love having pockets, even if I don't always use all of them. Just having the option to use them when needed is nice.
    Stop fake pockets!

Have you already made a patch pocket video? Yours looks much nicer than what I’ve managed to do. About front pockets, I’ve lengthened the pockets on the right side of all my pants and the left side for all my husband’s pants for exactly the same reason - phone. We keep on pocket short because it’s annoying to have keys on your thigh 😂But I love the idea of adding patch pockets. I’ll do this next! Although it might be too bulky for jeans.

Hello thank you for your videos but now back to topic : There is a Reason for using "detached" or "patch" pockets ( cargopockets) on garments. "Patchpocktes" do not only offer more space - they also seperate the pocket and its "cargo" from the underlying clothpattern which fits your bodyshape. So you can tell if somebody has any type of "cargo" in his pockets , a tumor or just a bad pattern. Hope you kow what i mean . regards Patrick

I’ll let the experts answer, but I think it’s just a matter of opening up the seams along the side of the pants and adding the pockets. Good luck on your nobel quest for pockets! 👍

Yes, it would be possible to do this on a finished pair of pants. As @marcydrake9159 says, you'll need to open the inside leg seam so you have a flat surface to work with.

Finding myself going the other way. The front pocket definitely is an uncomfortable (yet often the best available) way to store things, so thats one aspect I don't like. Additionally, if i sweat at all, that means my phone, which is in my pocket right next to my sweaty body, is getting wet. So i have been yearning for us to go medieval, wear high waisted pocketless pants, and hang a pouch on a belt around the natural waist. Then, my hips are holding the weight, but it's separated from my disgusting self a little bit. But people do look at me funny when im running around in medieval garb

So... pockets for women went from: something that was conveniently held in place by the hips (hands-free), but easy to steal; to something conveniently held in place by the hips and hidden to be less easy to steal; to something that was conveniently held in place by a seam and hidden; to something that is easy to grab while running and oh, by the way, it's gonna slip off your forking shoulder constantly! 😡
