  • In the second episode of The Power of Myth, Bill Moyers and mythologist Joseph Campbell compare creation myths from the Bible and elsewhere, and talk about how religions and mythologies need to change with time in order to maintain their relevance in peoples’ lives.
In this clip, Campbell talks about the great mystical realization of mythology...all of the gods, all of the worlds, are within us.

I'm reminded of this passage by William Blake:
"The ancient poets animated all sensible objects with Gods or Geniuses, calling them by the names and adorning them with properties of woods, rivers, mountains, lakes, cities, nations, and whatever their enlarged and numerous senses could perceive. And particularly they studied the Genius of each city and country, placing it under its mental deity. Till a system was formed, which some took advantage of and enslaved the vulgar by attempting to realize or abstract the mental deities from their objects. Thus began Priesthood. Choosing forms of worship from poetic tales. And at length they pronounced that the Gods had ordered such things. Thus men forgot that all deities reside in the human breast."

Well, Jesus said the same thing. The kingdom of heaven is within. Look to no one, but me. Man being the crown of creation is the son of God. So, he has all the attributes of his father. I'm using man and he, him, his, to keep it simple. Women are mankind, too.

"All the gods, all the hells, all the heavens are within you". This is one of the core concepts in Buddhism, emphasizing the exploration of one's inner self as the path to enlightenment and understanding the nature of existence.

Joseph Campbell was a right-wing racist and anti-Semite
And you think he defines a “hero”?
And did all that ‘hero’ talk seem a bit…white? Not unexpected from a man who was a notorious racist.
In an infamous 1989 article at the New York Review of Books, the media fixture Brendan Gill recalled knowing Campbell through their membership at the Century Club in New York City.
      As he reported:
“The bigotry that Campbell displayed toward blacks, Hispanics, and other minorities was so irrational that one hesitated to believe he was in dead earnest.”
For decades, Campbell had been a literature professor at Sarah Lawrence College. By several reports, he’d protested the admission of Black students, saying they were “unable to retain information.”
A woman who worked at his publisher recalled: “It was amazing to me that this man of cosmic vision could harbor such meanspirited and seemingly unexamined biases against much of humankind.”
      His anti-Semitism was particularly startling.
Campbell was given to spouting off about Jews, saying things like “I can always spot a Jew” or “not all of the Nazis’ ideas had been so bad.”
After Brendan Gill’s report, a Jewish student of Campbell’s recalled him saying “Jews had ruined 20th century culture” and that he’d spent his life trying to avoid Jewish company.
Campbell was recalled giving a lecture once and speaking of humans as predators who ought to behave like it. A woman in the audience asked: “What about the six million who were gassed during World War II?”
Campbell, she said, shrugged and replied: “That’s your problem.”
In 1992, Robert A. Segal published a paper, “Joseph Campbell on Jews and Judaism,” that quoted these moments, and he finds Campbell “never says anything positive about Judaism…”
And what about the Nazi links?

Upanishads are books of Hinduism. Hinduism isn’t a religion, it’s a philosophy and way of living life. You can believe in Hinduism and be an atheist.
In Hinduism , gods are there to guide.
Hinduism is the oldest religion, it’s so old that there’s no scientific evidence to who wrote the “scriptures”.
We have assumed from the scriptures that Hinduism dates back to 12,000 years.

Basically it's Luciferian doctrine he's pushing. It has a sprinkling of Jesuitical, Loyolan flavoring too, with the dreams and imaginings. What a load of nonsense. Lucifer said he would rise above above the stars and above the throne of God (Isaiah 14:13). He told Eve that if she ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that she would be "like gods, knowing both good and evil" (Genesis 3).
    But in the Scriptures we have a more sure testimony;
"To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Isaiah 8:20
Thus we can discern the falsity in the New Age hogwash that Campbell was peddling. He points to the age of his adopted foolishness, as though the age of an idea gives it more validity. Hello; Lucifer's pride and fall came before the creation of the earth. Does that make it more valid that God's own precepts which are eternal? Hell no!

God of Love and Light of many teachers ❤️ including Joseph.
Not stuck in Old Testament Sin and Judgement.
      EVIL is only LIVE backwards
Just as Cold is the Absence of HEAT
And Darkness and Absence of LIGHT.
If you follow the lessons of Jesus in the New Testament there is only one essential lesson... GOD is LOVE.
Joseph Campbell is the essence of this message, therefore he has fulfilled the teaching of Jesus...
      GOD as Gift Of Divinity
      And LOVE as
      Live Our Vital Essence...
      And SOUL as
      Source Of Unconditional Love 💕😘

Christianity (and the bible) is just one small blip of history and religion. There is so much more to The world and reality as studying world history and other cultures shows. Sadly too many Christians and other fundamentalists are blinded by small minded superstitious narratives and remain stuck in a very very limited understanding.
