  • SmplTrek Sample Chopping!
Today I'm showing just how easy it is to chop samples using the SmplTrek! Please make sure you have updated to the latest firmware, as the functionality showcased in this video is not present in the older versions. Also shoutout to the auto slice feature, it's been one of the more accurate ones I've used so far! Enjoy the video :)

My most important lesson of SmplTrek so far has been that, despite all tutorial videos and advice of the manual, the first thing to do when sitting down to make music is **NOT** to assign a track type to a track 🤦‍♂️.... After much experimentation, i realized that assigning a track type first thing will severely limit your options when IT comes to how you can manipulate whatever sample you want to use in a track - for example, chopping a sample like in this video! You **HAVE TO** chop a sample first thing, before loading IT to a track and assigning track type, or the unit will not let you actually chop or manipulate the sample at all! 🤦‍♂️
This seems so simple, and yet IT has taken me this long to figure out, because everyone (including the manual) has been saying to assign a track type first 🙄.... In my world, IT would make great sense to choose track type, choose sample for that track, and manipulate the sample however you want thereafter; but this is not the way the unit functions 🤷‍♂️🌌

The SmplTrek does have some quirks to it. It seems editing is possible coming from a blank track, and coming from all the track types except for LOOP and SHOT, where it seems to presume you've done the editing already, or something. Also of note, pressing FUNC + POOL initially goes to loading from the MIDI Pool. Pressing these two a second time leads to the SELECT FILE TYPE from the general Pool, with the SAMPLE - MIDI - KIT options.

If you just want a one shot or instrument, or if your kit is already made, you can select the track type first :)

Great demo, looks like a very capable device, does it have time stretching and pitch shifting of samples?

Have you had any luck with the Live Looper? I've been having issues and I'm wondering if it's my setup or some lingering firmware bugs.

It seems to have a glitch in the firmware where it plays the first time through a new loop out of sync and then fixes it. Hopefully they nab it in the next update!

Hi I try a sampling for free, Garageband free software and Audacity for chopping, Well im not very good at this, you need imagine how it will sound in your head sometimes thing happen by just jamming. But sampling is 21st centry music I guess.
