New Smith show: Lizards and LARP
Guys, Sparky Dave from the site crew here - If ever you find you rock up and you're short of a critical tent part, come and have a chat. We might not have exactly the thing you need, but in the example of a marquee centre pole, chances are we've either got a spare, or a length of wood you can use in a pinch. Can't promise anything, but it's always worth an ask.
Just remembered a story from E2, I got woken up I think Friday night by my friend stumbling back into her tent and talking to a guy called Chris who helped her and I thought oh nice, shes pulled someone lol as i think anyones reaction probably would of been in a half asleep and still kinda drunk state (Obviously that wasn't the case, he was just being very helpful), I found out in the morning that her boots her literally fallen apart and this guy carried her back to the tent and helped her out and that Chris was actually Chris Trott haha
I was very surprised coz obviously I hear Chris and I don't think of him lol but I gave him a decent magical item as thanks for what he did as I couldn't think of the right words to thank him at the time but I wanna say now that he is such a great guy and thank you so much for helping her out when she was basically walking through the mud in her bare feet coz of her boots.

Shout out to my brass coasters letting those orcs on Saturday know that it was indeed "OUR FORT, IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR FIELD"
I have never done LARP and probably never will. I am so grateful to these three that i get to almost live the LARP life through them though.
I wish I could listen to their stories everyday tbh
I appreciate you guys discussing the basic beginner stuff (like ripping the card to find the effect), because I don't LARP but find this stuff SUPER interesting to watch.
Hey Mark I'm that lovely chap that gave you the free coffees, didn't realize that got other stuff wrong for you lol otherwise would have made sure it was all good for you guys lol. It was awesome seeing you guys and I've loved watching the podcast, love all your guys content.
I always love it when you three recount your LARP experiences! It blows my mind how intricate all the plotting is, and makes me a little envious that I don't live anywhere near England or anywhere with a LARP experience. I'll just live vicariously through these retellings.
The consistency and quality of these has just gripped me entirely. Such good stuff. Love the channel, and Mark has inspired me to start writing my own fantasy novel!
if you ever need to do a high rollers one shot should get chris and smith to play as their empire characters remade in D&D. wont be the same but could be really funny and cool
It was epic getting to meet you all at E1, and I'm immensely grateful to you for involving me in some of your game (inviting me along to watch the Dawnish election with you). Great podcast Mark, excellent stuff to paint miniatures to!
Hey guys - met Smith and Trott at Insomnia in Birmingham, said I was going to my first event, was joining League, and how I also knew someone you've mentioned in another recap.
The moment time in came about, was offered work in the Imperial Office as an aide. Met pretty much all the senators. Got to discuss national security with the Empress. The Master of the Imperial Mint bought me a wayleaf to use as a backup plan if the Senate didn't go well. Got to address Senate at my first event. Made the wiki because of that.
Was such an amazing weekend. I expected to fall through the cracks and muddle around, and that didn't happen at all. Just say yes when something is offered!
Way to live the life I want to when/if I get to go to Empire - that sounds like a helluva first event!

As of E1 I finally managed to get into military council as a General's adjutant. Can confirm that it's mind destoyingly boring!
How did you become a Adjutant?
@@dwindebabk one of the Marcher generals mentioned at muster that he was in need of an adjutant, so I spoke to him about my experience with note taking and admin.

I listened to this last week when it was on Patreon but wanna listen to it again with the visuals, I too was feeling like maybe stopping Empire as I wasn't having that great a time really, however I realised after talking to my friends there, that it was just the group and nation I was in wasn't what I wanted, now i've retired that character (Audax) and made a new one in Wintermark in a Hall with alot of friends i've made in, the same Hall you spoke about in here, Wyverns Watch, i've been friends with them since their creation and always said i'd join them on my next character and now here I am, as per usual i'm very grateful to you showing everyone what Empire LARP is and getting me involved in something amazing and life changing.
why not plant the party potato, and get a full harvest of party potatoes?

I saw mark in the Saturday battle looking a bit lost wandering through the brass coast lines, tried to get you to join us but you weren't having it.
Please don't worry about it being too long. I'd watch 3 hours of this! Never enough stories about Empire

Went to E1 as my first event and got so caught up in everything, I was also helping house Devro finding information and was the Navarr physick (Lith or Shiny) who was there when the yeomen died. Thank you Mark for getting me into LARP!
Why am I not surprised that Bite came in through the League, represent! XD
I just binged all your larp videos over the course of a couple days and you guys got me so enamoured with Empire LARP. Can't wait for more updates on your characters!
I know it isn't even the shortest one of these videos, but it just feels short. I love listening to these stories.

These are some of my favourite videos on UA-cam at the moment. Just loving the mixture of stories and descriptions of how things are organised practically.
I actually went around with Aliana (probably spelled wrong) to help her find out about that killing and she took me to your camp where I met the empress in disguise. That was an amazing first larp experience for me so thank you everyone I met.
So I have been looking at different empire larp recaps and it is funny seeing the connections between the different video creators. For example Achilles also perchased a bourse seat for joan (neon magpie) and I believe Rick the Vanman was also at the banquet and saw you feeding crabclaws.
Aww I feel you, Drachenfest 2017(another larp) was so wet and muddy it got nicknamed Mudfest or Slammagedon. It was almost cancelled, but cooperation made it possible :)
You guys telling us your LARP adventures entertains me to no end, love you guys.

Mark. Please. After you hadn't posted a new larp video for a while, I re-watched all the empire larp recaps. Then I re-watched it again. And again. And again. I think this is the sixth time? Maybe? At least there's a lot of re-watch value right... Right?
I would say its not your fault, but then again, the reason I am completely addicted to larping is because of these videos. I go to a few events a fortnight, and there's still an empty void of longing to just smash people with foam swords and yell things.
I wish i could go to this LARP event. I live in the States, and I don't fancy running around with pool noodles.

i love these videos about larp i dont have time to do that kind of thing and it is great to hear about your experiences.
im never going to bloody do larp cos i would not ever live it down but these videos are brilliant the bloody stories you lot end up with by the end of each event is immense seeing as how its just a weekend a pop thing keep it up lads i love watching these

My first ever larp( when I was 8 ) had so much worse weather than what you described, it was just mud half way up to my then shins. It was horrible...but to an 8 year old, it was so much fun.🤓
what ever happened to the rest of 2018 larp vids?
Every time I listen to your LARP round-ups I desperately want to go to Empire and I read over the wiki and come up with character ideas. It's just without a group to start with or an idea of how to affordably get some starting gear it becomes quite daunting and I never end up actually going. The world and the roleplaying sounds like amazing fun but the thought of travelling to the festival as a total beginner without knowing anyone there really puts me off. Experiencing Empire vicariously through your tales helps me satisfy that urge somewhat though so thanks lads.

Admittedly I was going to stop larping recently but watching this vlog and hearing fun stories in the vlogs have helped push me to attend a couple more events before taking a hiatus. So a big thank you! As a side note, mark you once said you got to watch an act involving a maiden and the dreaded cocktopus....yeah if its who I think it is..I larp with them (the maiden and the cocktopus) outside of empire and they only get worse :P

I absolutely loved this event, it was my first event and I plan to attend the other 3 this year! It was a lot of fun selling cookies and pendants XD I did run into you at one point Mark looking for the "Captains Tent" (the Millitary Council tent) dont worry I found it a few minutes after asking you and your friends XD
I ran into a very drunk trott on Thursday night as he nearly fell into me at the main tavern 😂

Hi I don’t mean to nag and such, because I imagine organising these videos is stressful . However I wanted to know if you are all ok and because I know there’s been e2 /e3 if you are still planning on doing this series because I very much enjoy it?
Im Australian and these videos have made me want to do larp unfortunately for me there aren't many groups in Australia.
Had a great time as Guldsmeden (Poet of Plenty, Bearer of the Horn of Heroes), Herald of Eleonaris!
The food at the banquet was out of this world, the food was amazing, the entertainment was great, everyone involved really went above and beyond to make a really memorable experience. Sadly I had to bug out early on Saturday so I didn't get a chance to spend as long as I wanted in Wintermark, but who knows maybe Guldsmeden will return.
Guldsmeden was fantastic! Great job my dude!

I'm watching this ready for the next event and hearing them talking about Achilles hurts so much! I know for sure I'll end up teary at his wake, but at least we won't have to differentiate between "Rich Achilles" and "War Crimes/Poor Achilles".

Forgive me if something was posted on twitter as i don't have it but any update on when the Spring 2018 event video will be posted? gonna be attending E3 and want to watch more to sate the hype but ive already rewatched all your empire videos 5+ times and anymore will cause me to learn them word for word!

Can you do a tutorial on creating a character like going through each of the bits. probably will be very lengthy but you could split it up?

I always get so jealous when I hear talk of Empire. I wish I lived near you guys so I could participate in something so immersive and grand:/ I've seen a couple of LARPs an hour or two from where I live in the US but they don't seem large nor immersive. Also, they're frequently not whole weekend things and adult themes are out of bounds for their rules. I want a pint of mead with my foam swords.
My highlight was defo getting a skin transplant with a Naga, first traumatic wound since I'm non com 😂
If you want some more info on the dawnish drama then yoularp put up a video about there characters one is Jocelyn core Draco senator for dawn and remember it's oc.
These are so fun to watch. I really wanna participate myself, but
a) I live in germany
b) The Land and character creationand nations, and traditions and religion and magic and crafting etc. is a very daunting amount of lore to understand and know, which I tried (!) but failed xD
c) I probably can't afford it :D
