Before the video started I was like "Please be good, please be good, please be good!". After it ended, I was like "Please do more, please do more, please do more!".
Oh my god. Oh my god. This exceeds, by leaps and bounds, all expectations I had, and I had very high expectations. Wonderful introduction, gorgeous cinematography, beautiful set, exciting cuts to things; I can say with confidence that this is the most well-executed educational show on UA-cam. I'm so very proud of you guys. I honestly cannot wait for more episodes. P.S. the "Made In Montana" stamp at the end makes me very happy.
A fellow geologist here, totally excited for this series. I did my college summer field camp in Montana, it has amazing geology and this is a great fit for the SciShow crew involved. Also, I noticed The Rock is calling. Nice pun.
Soo many great details. 'Kate Tectonics' on the pencil, OK but also very shortly visible on the glasses. Dwayne ('the Rock') Johnson calling, while the rock on the table is called Dwayne. The geology bumper sticker, obviously, but also the gameboy says 'Geology is incredible!'. So nice to see the attention to detail. This must be going to be a great series.
Love Todd's glasses cameo, the funny "Right, Dwayne? Right" and oh, just the general awesomeness of this episode! Well Done guys and I am definitely looking forward to more! :)
How did I find out about this channel right now? And why doesn't it have millions of subs? This is some quality content right here. Edit: And why did I just find out it's no longer producing videos? :'(
Please, everyone, share. UA-cam (and the world) needs more thoughtful content. If it's going to take hold, it needs to find its audience. The more people are exposed, the more likely it will do so. Share it, share it, share it.
Found myself on impromptu homeschool ad hoc curriculum design duty due to the Omicron surge and was so pleased to find this channel. One of the best productions on all of UA-cam (and after approximately two years of pandemic life, I am close to having viewed all of it). Anyway, after realizing that three episodes was all the world got of this awesomeness, I am crushed. This should have become a full blown series on Netflix or something by now. Montana should have kept funding this, as it made me almost want to visit there. Another few episodes and maybe I'd want to move there... Anyway, I searched out Katelyn Salem and found that she's not even working in media, geology, or education -- I'm sure whatever she does, she does well, but I will forever miss her intelligence, wit, and affable presence.
This is awesome. My dad is an engineering, we would visit mines in Peru..and we lived there in the 90s. He use to bring me rocks and gem stones....Now here I am...falling in love with geology ...again.
So, so, SO good! I am very impressed with everything in this video: the cinematography, the set, the script, Katelyn's performance, the animations and nature footage... everything is high quality, the attention to detail is incredible, and I can't wait to see the rest of the videos!
I have been following the process of making this 4 minute and 33 second film for the better part of this year and i have such a huge appreciation for the work that goes into making videos like these. The set, the script, the freaking B-roll! It came out great. Better than great. It's rocktacular.
Wow, this was truly worth the wait! So many breathtaking shots and little details that made me chuckle. Congratulations on this successful launch, now let's share the shit out of this thing!! :D
I was going to get mad and be like HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS WAS OUT but then I saw it was uploaded today so now I'm like, DID I JUST HAPPEN TO STUMBLE UPON THE FIRST KATE TECHTONICS EPISODE THE DAY IT WENT LIVE WHAAAAAT HOW. Anyway it looks friggen' beautiful, guys, and it has a very Firefly-esque feel which I'm 100% in favor of and I'm very excited for more!
I've been sharing this with elementary school teachers and science teachers and they all love it! They are all asking when the next video will come out and how often they will see new stuff! You hit the mark!
A science show about geology... *Goes back and looks at collection of fossils, rocks, minerals, and others scattered throughout the apartment* I'm ready! I can't wait for more.
Wow it's been 3 months since this was uploaded and still no second video. I really hope this project didn't collapse because the first one was so good.
Great first video! It's was cool seeing parts of this project get made on WIDRN, and then seeing the final product on this channel. Can't wait for future episodes!
This was attack on the senses. The visuals were stunning! The sound chilling as the music grew louder. And then Katelyn is just so beautiful! And it was great to hear her talk for so long and to get excited! Ahh! I just love it, more than I even thought I would.
Very well done in all aspects. I am looking forward to the next one, and I hope educators will find this series and be able to use it with their students. With the emphasis on blended science these days, this video is right on target pointing out the relationship of geology with other sciences (biology, chemistry, physics...).
Who knew Katelyn would make such a great host! I understand there's a lot in the editing too but it makes me wanna learn! From the shots to the graphics this is perfect. Can't wait for more
Nothing compares to witnessing the first episode /in real life/ with all the components put together in such an unfathomably fantastic way after seeing you guys start having this concept and working on it for so long! I was always going to watch this regardless of how interested I was in the subject, but after viewing it, it's safe to say I'll be sticking around for the amazing material as well as everyone involved.
I hope that you haven’t given up on these amazing videos. You have an amazing talent and persona and I think you did an amazing job on the videos that you released!
Dang! Beautiful! Katelyn's voice is sooo nice to listen too. Very impressed with it all - thankyou for all the hard work leading up to this. You didn't FTBA
This first episode turned out amazing. It's so cool to see the final product of the idea that you guys built from the ground up. Can't wait to see more!
Some points 1. The Synema studio reel entry is cool 2. The logo for Synema studios looks like the Sony Television network (India) 3. Nice timelapse, very National Geographic music 3. The constantly moving text must have been a bitch to edit 4. Nice pencil sequence who does the animation for it? What was the camera + lens combo for that sweet macro focus shift? 5. The 3D logo is awesome and the camera pan into the logo is A+ 6. The end credit music has a texas ranger vibe 7.I get the Dwayne Johnson joke, though why is someone playing pokemon?
As soon as I saw the name of your channel on SciShow Quiz Show, I immediately paused the video and came here. I'm so excited now! Just subscribed. Now I'll go back and finish watching the quiz show. Cheers :D
Katelyn and Michael u guys killed it! You really exceeded my expectations, this is so professional. Also katelyn u have a super pleasant voice to listen to. Can't wait to see more
The production value on this is _amazing_! After watching you guys start having this idea and working on it so long, nothing compares to seeing the first episode /in real life/ with all the parts put together in such an unfathomably cool way! I was always going to watch this regardless of how interested I was in the topic, but after seeing this it's safe to say I'm sticking around for the awesome content as much as I am for everyone who's behind it. I'm so proud and excited for you, and am eagerly awaiting more episodes!! :D
Having watched Michael's vlogs it's so fascinating to finally see this project go live. You can see the amount of work you guys put into it, and I'm very curious for the rest! (Also loved the "Right, cat? Right." reference)
Always a sucker for geology, so got super excited when I heard about this courtesy of SciShow Game Show. Subbed & shared, can't wait to explore the geological wonders of Montana here in the future (fingers crossed for an episode or two on Glacial Lake Missoula)!
It is great seeing it all come together so nicely! Kate you did a great job as host! I was wondering if this is your thing, you seem so quiet in some of the Vlogs. But i have no doubts anymore. The set is great. The Animations are so good and of course the editing is spot on! I am jealous, but happy that this team will do such a great show! :-)
Holy moley! how did i miss this come up in my feed??? just watched Michael's vlogs about the screening at Buffer and so I figured this had to be up! Wow guys! This was awesome. I love the style. Can't wait to watch the next episodes to come :D
Yay! This has been such a long time in the making, but was worth the wait. I cracked up at the 'Right, Dwayne? Right!' and again at during the titles when there was an incoming call from Dwayne Johnson. Can't wait to see more of it!
I'm excited for this channel; beautifully made video and I especially like Kate. Her voice sounds very soothing and matches really well with the video. Subscribed :)
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh - I've been waiting for this series for so long and it's AMAZING!!! As an environmental science student I'm so happy that there's new, quality geoscience content arriving on youtube! 🌋
Very well done guys. It looks very well polished and dare I say professional ;) But seriously, congratulations on what looks like it's going to be a very good series.
I have love feelings for this show. I want to introduce it to all my friends, compliment it gushingly, go on hikes with it, get twitterpated when I see something that reminds me of it (like pencils!?), and giggle at it's clever jokes. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE!
Before the video started I was like "Please be good, please be good, please be good!". After it ended, I was like "Please do more, please do more, please do more!".
Totally me too.
This is SUCH good quality content especially for a first episode.
I read especially as except and laughed then reread >_>
Oh my god. Oh my god. This exceeds, by leaps and bounds, all expectations I had, and I had very high expectations. Wonderful introduction, gorgeous cinematography, beautiful set, exciting cuts to things; I can say with confidence that this is the most well-executed educational show on UA-cam.

P.S. the "Made In Montana" stamp at the end makes me very happy.
I couldn't agree more! I'm blown away by the all-around high quality of this video.
yukimaru Everything was just amazing. Can't wait for more.
Danielle and Victor; I wholeheartedly agree.

Michel Fugers the gameboy really got me ;)
This is amazing! And also so happy that it was properly captioned!! :D
Love Todd's glasses cameo, the funny "Right, Dwayne? Right" and oh, just the general awesomeness of this episode! Well Done guys and I am definitely looking forward to more! :)

Edit: And why did I just find out it's no longer producing videos? :'(
SO EXCITED. Everything is so pretty and the cut and pacing was fantastic
First question: Are tectonic plates dishwasher safe? Because I just had an AMAZING continental breakfast.
Apologies for my faulty humor.
Andrew Noble lawl
Anyone who expects me to NOT use this joke everytime anyone brings up the tectonic plates is a fool
Peter Rabbit ha
Ha ha Fun E ha ha
This is gorgeous! So worth the wait!
(Also the addition of Dwayne is brilliant.)
Please, everyone, share. UA-cam (and the world) needs more thoughtful content. If it's going to take hold, it needs to find its audience. The more people are exposed, the more likely it will do so. Share it, share it, share it.
I shared it with everyone I know. Literally.

That little pickaxe guy at the end is such a cute touch. I love this.
So, so, SO good! I am very impressed with everything in this video: the cinematography, the set, the script, Katelyn's performance, the animations and nature footage... everything is high quality, the attention to detail is incredible, and I can't wait to see the rest of the videos!

Why did you stop doing these videos? They are great.

I burst out laughing at the incoming phone call. Dwayne Johnson was calling.
The rock was calling.
THE ROCK.
I'm in literal awe of how good this all looks!!
