Your channel is proving to be quite an expensive subscription as I'm sitting here downloading Abbey Road ONE, but totally worth it! Keep the vids coming!
"I'm a bit annoyed that people who haven't dialed in their templates are going to get better mixes" - Blakus, I spent months dialing in my template and this library revealed balance changes I have to make, that's how good it is...
I was about 80% sure I was going to get it... You've just completely sold me on it. Great explanation of the library!

Really enjoyed this walkthrough! Preordered myself as well in the beginning. I sensed that this will become an amazing library over time, and it looks like it will.
I've hit the subscribe button several times, but for some reason UA-cam keeps unsubscribing me... Thank you so much for this walkthrough - the library sounds amazing! And great to see you're back!
Amazing video, I definitely need more of these to learn the intricacies of mics, how scores are mixed to get the same sounds that you after. The audio mixing side of mock ups and tempering samples to sound more realistic is something I need to learn more about!
Great walkthrough. And 15:30 - no worries mate, others may get instant great mixes, but they still have to write music. And intuitively understand the whole MIDI composition concept. You still reign there. 👍🏼
Rarely impressed by any new orchestral libraries, but this one did, hoping they won't just stop there leaving no legatos. Thank you very much much Blake for doing this video !
I was in two minds about this library just cause the stuff I saw didn’t really impress me.... then I watch this video and then I slipped on an oboe and now I have it 😂😂
Thanks for the review. I was a bit on the fence especially with how wet and bright it sounded... but you make a good point. Just haven't given it a chance. How would you compare this with let's say the BBC SO?
I've had some limited success imitating the "tone" of Abbey Road One with older libraries, but the bloom is what I've had trouble with. Significant trouble. If anyone has tips (EWHO, CineBrass, JXL, Synchron stage libraries), I'd love to hear them.
We haven't the same level so far (haha), but I know exactly what you mean by not getting the 4D sound with a 'regular' library. It often blocks me while jamming... Getting back and forth between different blends of mics/room/hall.. I can't stand that 2D wall of non-sense either. Make sure to tell us one day if you felt any need to tweak those samples anyway (i'm not planning to buy for the moment but really interested in having your thoughts). Really cool to see you man btw. Take care.
So you have to create an instance of the library for each instrument? No need for A Kontakt player type multitimbral set up for your template ? How is it on DSP with multiple instruments?
Made a comment yesterday on a new library, that I wished sample developers started to focus more on an actual good / more production-ready sound out of the box. This looks/sounds promising, to be honest!
What the heck! I just came from work, dead tired, its 3 am, but I cannot go to sleep without watching this! Because if Blakus is blowned away by a library, that means that's something really phenomenal !!! edit: I fell asleep,, I'm sorry. Btw I had a dream that i was in Blake's room and he was printing receipts to some companies for some music he wrote! Also he build a new computer that was as big as a comercial printer. It was an IBM with an external videocard that had 8 double stacked 120mm fans on both sides! Also he had 2 blue backpacks in a rattlesnake rattle form. And I thought "now I will learn some mixing tips from the master! :D" then I woke up.......... what a disappointment.......
Hey, guys! Could you suggest, what NI Kontakt libraries for epic drums & percussion does Blakus use? Because I can't "catch" them during stream. I really want to find powerful epic drums, maybe, you use some kind of them. I will be grateful if you write me names of these libraries. Or, Blakus, will be grateful for your answer :)
It’s in the horns that I make my judgment (I am a horn player). These horns still have a way to go, but they certainly sound very good compared to other libraries.
Nice video. I'd like to ask an unreleased question: What screen capture do you use that allows the clean mic signal, then audio from the computer? Do you mute your speakers when you play back the audio?
Hey Jake. I'm just using OBS for capture. I generally tend to run my speakers at a low level, and by combing the use of close proximity to the mic, and a gate in my RME Totalmix software, it's usually enough to prevent any annoying bleed from the speakers.
@@Blakus Hey thanks for the reply...cool. And as a side note, I too try and find libraries that "sound" like my favorite scores, or a particular string sound...it's a great way to minimize buyer's remorse...LOL
I'm wondering have you tried Berlin Strings or other Orchestra Tools libraries to try to come close to that "Abbey Road" sound? If yes and you did not succeed in it, then what was the reason? From what was able to hear from public playthroughs Berlin String sound much less muddy than strings that were recorded in Air Studio.

Hello! I know that with so many microphones it gives some problems, it is okay for me to use only one microphone because it already seems very good to me; I have an i mac 27 processor 3.2 Ghz intel core I5, memory 32GB of ram at 1867 Mhz DDR3; I am used to working very well with kontakt but I know that these libraries are heavier anyway.. do you think that it could be usable with my computer?
Was thinking of cinematic studio brass but now I’m considering getting this for that and percussions.. for strings was considering SSS or SCS, any advice on that?
3 years too late but SCS is the better library, however it's chamber-sized and sounds weird without the outrigger mics, so you'll need to get the Pro version to get the most out of it. Still sort of janky because it's old Spitfire, I highly recommend getting Pacific Ensemble Strings and Vista 2 instead. Cheers!
It's me? Or with all long patches in strings section, when you stop pressing the keys to hear their natural tail, do you get a very unnatural rebound?? Very dissapointed about this.
20:01 "...everyone's gonna be able to do this!" Uh, no--everyone will have the samples, but there's still the composing ability and sequencing skills of yours that we are still missing. I think you're safe Mate. And this is two years later, I don't recall 700-800 people in the last two years cranking out incredible Abbey Road-driven compositions on here, lol. 😉
Great video! I'll end up buying this awesome library, I loved how it sounds since thier anouncement. But first I must use the Air libraries to deserve getting this :P You've convinced me to try harder!
I’m almost certain it has not been available for sampling bar Native Instruments and maybe private libraries until now. Having said that - there were an ongoing and crowdfunded string library to be recorded in Abbey Road entitled “1930s strings” .. but that were never completed, only a demo was put out online.

I was so confused when Windows made that sound at 18:13.

It's definitely ok to only use one mic position. The Mix 1 / Mix 2 positions are very well done and are great for saving on system resources too.

When did Blakus start using Studio One?
I notice you've switched to a set of ATC monitors. How do you like them? How do they compare to the Adams?
I'm super happy with them! The A77x are still great, but they can't compare to the ATC. But the price is also significantly higher :D
How would you compare this to the BBC Symphony Pro?

Yes, I’ve noticed this on a few patches too, I’ve submitted some feedback on a couple things which will likely be fixed in the future anyway.
