The Chosen is a groundbreaking Bible show based on the life of Jesus Christ (Jonathan Roumie), seen through the eyes of those who knew him. Set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first-century Israel, the seven-season show shares an authentic and intimate look at Jesus’ revolutionary life and teachings.
Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving Him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus’ growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable-ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus’ message turns violent, He’s left with no alternative but demand his followers RISE UP.

The King Herod dance scene in Episode One wasn't cinematic? :)
Thanks for the thoughtful analysis, I'm enjoying these.
“Cinematic” like “the MOST cinematic, even when compared with the King Herod dance scene”. Zing
And while we have you, Dallas - when can Australia and New Zealand see Episode 3? Oh, and while we are at it… how about Episodes 4-10?
I have been taught that Jesus didn't mean He would build His church on Peter, the rock. But that His church would be built on the words spoken by Peter. " You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God".
You are exactly right@
@@dheller777 You are absolutely right, but unfortunately some people interpret this as they understand it.
The rock is definitely not Peter, but I believe that Jesus was referring to himself. Jesus is my rock. Jesus is the rock I believe the church is built on. No sinning Human could ever be worthy.
Hi there. Thanks for watching and taking the time to give us your thoughts. Awesome. Were you taught about "upon this rock" by your parents, friends, or at church? What gave you confidence that they were correct? For the record, I agree with their assessment that Christ will build his church on the rock of follower(s) whose foundation is Christ
@@JohnWallace74 How good is The Rock, Jesus? Amen to that. And thanks for stopping by Following the Chosen. Anything else stand out to you about Episode 2 of Season 4?
The 70x7 scene was so great to weave in the major theme of forgiveness. I kept wondering why they left this linger between the two characters through the first three seasons. But just like The Chosen, you got to wait to see it play out and get to conclusion. The writing is so planned out!
I just loved your analysis of season 2.. This is the first time I have listened to/ seen your podcast. Be certain that I will continue to search you out. And, on a trivial thought, it was interesting to hear your thoughts in an Aussie accent! Here I am, praying for you,in New Jersey, USA.
I loved this episode!!
First time seeing your podcast! I really enjoyed it . Thank you ! ( I joined )
Glad you enjoyed it!! Unfortunately we've had to take a break but there's a few episodes already out to catch up on in the meantime...
I love this shot as well ❤
I LOVE this shot also. Christ is the best shot. He is the 1st thing I will see.
Amen to that. Love that reference to Jesus right there. Yes, he certainly is the best shot. Nicely depicted on-screen in the opening moments of Episode 2
Saw 1-3 episodes yesterday, very moving and such a cliffhanger
Tittally the best fun tak on here about THE CHOSEN..... we are all bouncing ideas back and forth and you two do it so well. Ignore naysayers who might criticize things. Forget that as you both do a fun thoughtful talk .. and you give us much food to think over . plus we can see how mnuch you love what you do That makes you so special your joy in your lving lvoe for what you do so wellov . Blessings and joy ... Merri
Oh, Merri. We are blushing now. Thanks for your kind words
Great conversation. 😃
I think the traditional Protestant interpretation is pretty weak when you pay close attention to the actual words of the passage: “And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.”
No reference to a declaration as the foundation, but very specific language about PETER. The word “Peter” lies within about 4 or 5 words we find the words “rock” and just a little further along in the sentence we find the word “church.” I’m Protestant, but I think the Catholic interpretation is very likely to fit with what Jesus was saying.
Now that doesn’t mean Jesus was establishing a continuing papacy, but there’s little doubt Jesus identifying Peter as the foundation.
This episode of The Chosen helps to keep Jesus as THE foundation of his church, though. His selecting and commissioning of Peter still stands upon Jesus himself as the cornerstone (Ephesians) and solid foundation (Sermon on the Mount).
Simon - the rock - the firm foundation in Christ was left to GO build the church; he was laying the foundation - aka rock that can't be shaken, after Christ left to ascend to heaven.
Great comments
Thanks a lot for checking out Following The Chosen. Stay tuned: we have a "shout outs: episode coming soon, so Laura and I can interact with your feedback and insights into The Chosen. Coming real soon!
The name “Peter” in the Greek means a small rock/stone in a pathway. When Jesus said He will build His Church on this “Rock, the word Rock used by Jesus means a large boulder/cornerstone in the Greek. Jesus was talking about the truth and revelation that Simon spoke about who He was! Jesus is that cornerstone and Rock upon who the Church would be built, not Simon Peter.
That girl talks so fast we couldn't understand her
You brush over the whole multi-level ideas in Matt 16:13-19. Shame on you.
You don't even know why Jesus had the disciples walk for two days to Caesarea Philippi.
Your ignorance is astounding.
Hi. What is it about Matthew 18:13-19 and the walk to Caesarea Philippi that you would like us to see? Thanks
