I love JuJube. I did not know how tough they are. I lost all my new trees this year except the Jujube even though I was watering. I love the fruit. And if you pick them and set them on the counter, they stay good for months.
@@tracybruring8440 Thank you for responding! I live in the Phoenix area in Arizona. The info in yr comment encourages me to try planting Jujube trees in my backyard. Thanks again & blessings. 😀
Grows vigorously and produces fruit abundantly in the desert of SW Utah. Fruit delicious green but really interesting when it shrivels red like a caramel. Hard to find one to buy though.
I’ve had the tree for three years this year I finally got one, it was delicious. It’s at least 12 feet tall. I’m growing mine in Corpus Christi Texas. So I’m pretty far south. It’s a pretty tree
My mom just shipped some from El Paso to Austin. Can’t find them here. These are my favorite! I grew up eating them in Juarez my grandma had a lot of trees and towards the end of the season a Chinese group of people used to buy them from my grandma when they were in their ripest stage. 🤎
Esos arboles son mexicanos siempre an estado en el estado de coahuila donde quiera hay asta parece plaga hay demaciados prep muy rica su fruta una de mis preferidas
Have u ever considered selling your home grown goodness at farmers markets? I don't have a backyard so I enjoy & 💖💖💖 getting my fresh, some organic fruits & veggies at farmers market. Just watching your videos makes me want to harvest also lol 😁
Just saw a friend from Cali and he mentioned the Jujube Tree, gonna do more research, its a dry heat, wet summer and a mild winter up here on the central plateau, it would be COOL to have these miniature "crunchy apples" or when ripe, these sweet imitation dates! lol...thanks buddy for sharing the information on this wonderful tree, greetings from Querétaro! :)
These are delicious, they are a crunchy apple even when red & ripe but become ‘Chinese dates’ when they are aged and dry out naturally on the tree or off tree.
I have never tasted jujube but yet I purchased a Honey Jar jujube tree. and looking for a Sherwood jujube tree. My tree is doing well looking forward to it fruiting.
Hi there.just saw your video 👍I'm still learning about these trees and fruit...its so tasty..... I saw underneath my grandfather's jujube tree that there small baby trees.......and was wondering if I can remove one and plant it elsewhere......🤔🤔🤔🤔is that possible and when should it be done.
Well I found these hanging in my tree and had to search days tonfigure out what they were before I just ate it.. tho it smelled like an apple and was green ...I'm going to get one off the tree now I know it is edible;)
Do you have any fertilizing suggestions for the jujube trees? all the videos show how to stick it in the ground but no advice on fertilizing. Also where is the best place online to buy them, It appears everyone is out for this year, have to preorder for spring of 2021? I live here in Louisiana so if they like hot and humid then they should be right at home. Also what is your suggestion on plant spacing between trees?
Will Jujube trees grow in Santa Fe, NM............... I think that they will. thank you........... are there any species that are more cold resistant. We rarely get below zero, but it can happen.
I just bought a home this year that had one of these and it was about 8 ft tall but had fruit on it. It resembled more of a bush than anything but the apples that did grow on it never matured even after the fall. They remained large and green and hard like they needed another month or so. What can somebody do about that? Is there any way to encourage a sooner maturity date for your fruit?
Hi there. I bought a Lang jujube tree from Lowe’s around 4 years ago. It has yet to fruit. It will grow buds like the image you have at 1:09 but never any flowers. Any advice for me to get my plant to fruit?
can i plant sir the old jujube dates that I bought in Chinese store. how can I know if these is roasted or being cook.. I wanted to grow them maybe I can luckyly grow them
I have a wild grove of Jujubes growing down the road. Think the original parent plant was planted in the early 1900's when the Agriculture commission was promoting the planting of the Jujube. I picked mine last year green and they turned red on their own. May be the variety I have that is why. I picked a half bucket of them the other day in hope to sprout in spring and plant across my orchard. The stand down the road seems quite prolific and adapted to this region quite well. Uncertain if I can get some small sprouts but may try. Uncertain when best time is to try and transplant?
If I were you,😀 I'd try to get cuttings, or propagate, by seed or root sprout, & sell them in pairs. I've never seen one in a catalog! I'd love to grow 2 (for cross-pollination) as the host suggests.
Will these grow good in a area that gets a decent amount of rain? I live in south florida and wanna grow a date tree pretty bad. Recently learned that some palm trees that grow here are called date palms that grow dates on them but because we get so much rain they end up rotting on the plants and falling before ever having a chance to mature.
Does anyone have any advice on how far apart should I plant the trees. I just got 3 new bare root trees. Thanks and if anyone has advice on fertilization and when?
It is suggested you do not plant it near your home. It is known to destroy foundations and pipes which maybe underground. It also shoots out suckers some say they have found suckers in their neighbors yard.
Maybe you need to attract pollinators to your yard. Try asking the local garden center for pollinator friendly plants. Jujube blossoms are not very bright, but once you get bees etc in your yard they should find them!
Place it far away from your home as possible. It is known to destroy the pipes and foundation of your home. If you live in a HOA make sure they allow this invasive tree in the neighborhood. I have one in a pot. I have a gas line, phone line , cable and electricity all underground. I called 811 and they came out to mark where I can dig. I have several fruit trees in pots and Im in the process of designing my backyard orchard. I found out its illegal to dig with out getting 811 to come out to survey your yard to prevent damage to any type of utilities which maybe underground. If I gig and hit a line it could cause outages to my home and my neighbors home. Needless to say this has delayed planting many of my trees.
You talked me into it...I went and bought a Li jujube tree yesterday. It is already over 6 ft tall. Now I need to decide where to plant it. I read that it needs protection from wind. Have you found that to be true?
I had never heard of this tree, Jujubee(sp) was a candy when I was a kid! They sound delicious, but, as usual, I'm too far north. Trying to figure out a tree for my front yard. Zone 4a. Needs to be resistant to sun, sandy soil, and straight line winds. My oaks and maple tree do well.
@@verawol3111 Not as of yet. Everything was going wacky this year, I will start researching again. I have a real squirrel problem here, also. They even steal hibiscus buds and tomatoes! I thought of maybe something like a Black Walnut, perhaps.
I have 2 large jujube trees at a house I rented recently. The branches are hanging full of fruit. How do I harvest the fruit? These trees are so tall that I can only reach the bottom branches. Are fallen fruits still good to use? What can I do with the fruit? Can I make jelly or jams? Pies? Could I sell the fruit at a local farmers market? Thanks for any help anyone has to offer.

We have thousands of these plants in our village jungle. We dry them and make powder of it. Its very delicious.
What is the powder used for?
