I never understood why people are complaining about his endings. He writes supernatural, horror , psychological stories. You can't expect " fairy tales happy endings and clear" in such stories. A weird ending it's mandatory in this genre. That's why i like King more than Koontz. All Koontzie's books are happy ending, which makes the stories so....predictable
Apt Pupil was absolutely amazing! I literally couldn't go to the next page after reading the last sentence... I just kept re-reading that one sentence. It wasn't a twist, but it was so hard-hitting and emotionally scary!
Glad to see that you're back talking about books on a regular basis again. I missed seeing them for a while and thought you were done with book videos.
I used to own a first edition of The Running Man. Even had the name Richard Bachman on the cover. I got rid of it one day while moving and didn't realize until after I moved. I'm still kicking myself for it.
His endings are so hit and miss. I feel like his bad endings are rush jobs. I hated the ending of Under the Dome. I spent a good chunk of time reading it only to be let down. Endings are definitely his weakest aspect.
The Shining and the Dead Zone both had satisfying appropriate endings. The Long Walk had what I call the short-story-ending, it worked. The Gunslinger and Pet Semetary both had incredibly dark, even brave endings. The man is a brilliant writer, kind of amazing he had so many weak endings in his career. Thanks for the video
honestly, i've never read a stephen King book, so i'm just going to have to take your work for it lol. but out of all these best books, which one should i start with that'll just hook me on his books forever?
I often answer this same question with "Cujo" mostly because It is easy to understand the horror elements of it all when it is something that you can imagine actually happening... At the same time you can't freaking believe it! The book is usually better and the experience of it is so much more intense. What you start with however will depend on the kind of story lines you like... Because hes written so many different types.
To add my own 2 cents... It's hard to please everyone and that is why this was a top 10 list and not a top 20, So having everyone's favorite in this video would be a bit difficult. Not to forget we are talking about endings and not the best top 10 stories. If we did a video about the top 10 best story lines with satisfying endings we would have an entirely different list. I was surprised at your number one pick because when I experienced the ending I was a little let down. But at the same time it made sense for the time it was written and was a classic chilly ending to leave you guessing if Carrie might continue haunting and show up in another book. If King wrote something right now with that idea it would not surprise me.
do you know how to create good comics? especially a good beginning, ending, and overall storyline. I have an idea of what I want, but I don't know where to start
IDC what anyone says. Under The Dome was a great book and the ending was pretty much the only ending that could even come close to making sense. The journey was amazing
I didnt especially like Carrie that much. It wasnt a bad book, and its pretty impressive how that was his first book, but the writing felt different and it didnt feel like a king book overall. The ending seemed to stretch out a lot in the letters and stuff. The last like 4 pages are just letters amd articles. The one thing I did like though, was that it was very different story structure wise. His normal formula is normal person against supernatural, but in this, the roles were switched. Other tham that, I just didnt care for it that much
King repeats himself with endings: Carrie - burn everything down; Firestarter - burn everything down; The Stand - burn (nuke) everything down; Under the Dome - burn everything down.
@@doydivision3984 i'd say all his books are anti country people lol. But imean King is a boomer and his audience were boomers. He became famous at the height of Boomer dominance so y know. I havent read carrie but IT is a ode to boomer pop culture nostalgia

I genuinely agree with you. 👍💯
I like your cosy reading area behind you. (Love the bookcase lights.) It look like a nice place to sit back & read a good book. 📚👹🥛🍪
I think you're on to something Trav. He's nowhere near as bad at endings as people make out.
Apt Pupil was absolutely amazing! I literally couldn't go to the next page after reading the last sentence... I just kept re-reading that one sentence. It wasn't a twist, but it was so hard-hitting and emotionally scary!
The Dead Zone ending was great, I would have replaced Cell with The Dead Zone other than that a great list 👍
@@eyyubqafarov103 what does that have to do with the video or comment ?
@@eyyubqafarov103 I don't know
What about Doctor Sleep? That was a beautiful ending.
Ya of course. Both Shining and Doctor Sleep are epic. In fact, in the terms of both storyline and ending! #Stephenkingrocks
lame ass climax
Appreciate that this was spoiler free!

Pet Semetary? Thats one of my favourite endings.
Apt Pupil was something else. It was really good. He went there.
His endings are so hit and miss. I feel like his bad endings are rush jobs. I hated the ending of Under the Dome. I spent a good chunk of time reading it only to be let down. Endings are definitely his weakest aspect.
Could you please do a Dark Tower book review

fantastic!!! LOVE THIS VID
The music in videos is very good.
Can't say I was expecting an Osama bin Laden segue to appear in this video but there you go
Bahahaha, I thought it was interesting.
I wish he would do some reviews on Nelson Demille books. Like, Charm school, plum island, gold coast, they are awesome books.
I would love to know your thoughts on the ending of Sleeping Beauties.

Bag of Bones and Duma Key are his very best. I love them and cherish them.
thanks, i'll have to get them :) @DaBOi98

Are you related to Polly shore or something
I thought the ending to the movie Mist was better than the book's ending.
What about Pet Sematary???
Cemetery**
@@yahrielguerreromartinez4815 Yeah I know, I misspelled 'cemetery' on purpose, Pet Sematary is how the title of the book is spelled as.
Nathan Beer oh sorry for the correction, i thought you misspelled it lol I’ve only seen it and cujo so sorry

Hmmm... I never really thought about that. Ah well, I love about 70% of his books.
Sodom and Gomorrah - burn everything down.
Shining
Plz do some tom clancy
Cell is a boomer book
Isnt that ALL King books?
@@RobVanDelay_WholeFnContest no. not at all.
