Back To The Field Flail Shredding

Hey everyone I am a 4th generation farmer, grew up in south central Nebraska living the farm kids dream. As I got older I was able to turn that dream of one day being a farmer into reality! Soon enough into farming I realized that I needed a second source of income to keep on top of todays lifestyle and invested into livestock! We have a 30 series that squeaks also. Just pour a little bit of water between the light and the windshield and that should solve the problem until you get time to fix it right. It gets pretty annoying.

It might not be ther bearing, your flails may be worn unevenly. We put new ones on ours after 2500 acres and it ran like s sewing machine.

One side of the drum will usually hang closer to the ground if the bearing is out

When we flail the harvested fields, it gets taken down to the ground... Smooth as a putting green. Does that thing drop any lower?

It does we just found with our rootballer we dont need to shred as low so we can get more life out of our knifes

@JM Farm & Cattle OIC, I was wondering because all our flail mowers are custom made outta Canada for a specific crop I guess, as we’re big on blueberries here. They get taken down to the surface...knives be damed. These just look way more simple to maintain and service then our five head units. Thanks

glade to see you getting the stalks down. We lease a 1/2 section one hr to south and another 1/2 to north to our son...glade it is mostly not me as that is too far. Our irrigated can make up to 280 bu so we just leave the stalks standing. That helps catch snow and a cleaner strip till for the planter path. Cut stalks seem to blow around here!
