    Many thanks for your demo video, helps understand how easy it is to use. This is a top quality piece of garden equipment and I have been using it the last few days and it is doing a superb job. Cuts through the branches like knife through a butter. I can recommend it highly, worth the money ultimately.

    I was given two of the previous version of this tool by a professional arborist I used to work for on the basis that if I could fix them both, I could keep one. In one case the nylon rope within the head had snapped, so I replaced it with a length of small machine pull cord. In the other case, I replaced one of the bicycle chain links which had broken and the blade was bent so I emailed Fiskars to ask for a price on a replacement blade and one just turned up in the post a few days later. (which put Fiskars firmly in my good books!)
    8 years on, the nylon fabric piece is starting to fray and the tool is getting slightly awkward to use, so I'm considering getting this newer version of the tool as a replacement, especially since it appears to have a plastic guide for the nylon strip instead of just a bare slit through the aluminium. Bear in mind the tool has done well over a decade of use and abuse! This tool and Fiskars as a brand are both good things.

    Glad to see you posting again so soon , the Fiskars tree pruners are very good, I regret buying the Wolf garden tree pruner with its huge head that gets snagged frequently. I have Wolf's longest pole, so it's a pain to get in a small van. 😐

      I love my small van but it can be challenging to get everything in it. Stay cool this week.

    im keen to try it out but two things to note, the blades dont open as wide as the other traditional pruners. so i guess this limits the branch to exactly 32mm, with traditional pruners depending on wood hardness i could go above recommended thickness. second point, for my traditional pruner i could do diy extension both to the pole and add extra rope length. that does not seem to be possible with the pull down system. thanks for the review.

    Nice review mate. How well would this work being horizontal for hedging type jobs, is it light and stiff enough when extended for that application?

    • @MrGardener18
      @MrGardener18  Рік тому +1

      I should be fine for that. I cant say I've used it like that but its stiff and strong enough. the power gear should help cut the thicker branches as well. there is a bit of weight to it but that's me talk a self confessed weakling.

    Thanks great video just one concern, the whole thing is dependent on a fabric pulley type mechanic, what if that breaks? wouldn't it render the whole thing inoperable? I mean its only a fabric, perhaps something stronger for longevity could have been used, what do you think?

    • @MrGardener18
      @MrGardener18  2 роки тому +3

      I believe you can get spares for it if anything break but I wouldn't be to concerned the top element is a chain and then the fabric you mentioned is a tough nylon stripe which should last a long time.

    • @flamingfrancis
      @flamingfrancis 2 роки тому +4

      Note there is a listing of spare parts at manufacturer's website and there is also a tutorial video by Fiskars on YT

      I have the previous version of this tool, which I received second hand with a different part broken. It was easy and cheap to fix and only after over a decade of use and abuse is the nylon strip starting to fray a bit, and on this newer version of the tool there appears to be a plastic guide to stop this from happening.
      The amount of force one can apply to the nylon parts is immense, so I don't think there's much to worry about when it comes to it breaking.

    Hi. I've got one of these which is brilliant. However this year the angle of the movable jaw seems to have changed so that the jaws are too close together to fit anything but very narrow stuff in. I've tried oiling it among other things but can't get the jaws back to the right distance apart. The mechanism seems to be working as normal, but it's as if the chain that connects to the movable jaw is shorter than it was. How do I fix this ?

      @@markdavid6927 What it was with mine was that the nylon chord had got jammed somewhere in the mechanism and not visible. I fiddled with the chord and eventually it unjammed and the jaw opened up again.

    I find that wood sometimes gets jammed between the blades and is reallyl difficult to free. What causes this? Is it meant to have the moving blade slightly cambered at the top, or might this be the cause of the problem. If that wasnt a problem I would recommend the tool, but unless its sorted I have to give it a thumbs down.
