Bangla is no way derived from Sanskrit. Sanskrit has never been a vernacular rather is a language of some Brahmin Pundits. Not being a language of common people, Sanskrit had no chance to be a language of the "Soil" ( History of Bengali Language : B.C. Mazumder). Bangla is related to "Prakrit", the language of the common people. Hindi is a Delhi dialect and after Muslim eras with the incorporation of Arabic/Farsi ( more than 25% of present day Hindi), Hindi became modern Hindi ( which is very new). Bangla is a far older language. Of course there are Arabic, Farsi along with European words are eventually incorporated as a natural phenomena, no forceful entrance. Now due to political reality people of West Bengal has to show proficiency in Hindi and with passage of time Bangla as a language in West Bengal will lose it's prominence. SAD FUTURE OF BANGLA.
