I mostly agree although it definitely wasn't as easy when you had no choice but to dig in the crates and use samplers with 10 secs of sampling time and no waveform display.
I personally need it, I'm glad they dropped it. I work with disco type samples and have a lot of trouble, I've really needed some lessons on warping and editing, we will see if that's still the case, now I will have to redo tunes I started a long time ago that I wasn't able to get correct.

Of all music elements, vocalists are most prone to a degree of human 'unquantised' groove too. The acid test for warping will always be the extent of the range of material used to trial it. i.e. how much groove/swing and feeling gets removed when dealing with unquantised music or whether or not the autowarp algo struggles with more complex music. Even when warping manually; minor correction of drift and mere tempo mapping of quantised music was never much of an issue. Comparatively few DJs (or even producers) ever truly put these kinds of functions through their paces.
I've tested this was works a treat! I was more excited about Auto warping than the release of Drift, hoping Ablenton will introduced stem next will be a winner, maybe Serato will bring stems to Serato Sample!
Stems works great in Serato Studio. I’m afraid they may be holding it back from Sample so Studio (and DJ) have a special selling point. I could be overthinking it. But stem separation in Serato Sample would be amazing
Had a very interesting experience. New algorithm didn't work at all- didn't even put in warp markers. Two reboots fixed that. Then, it wouldn't work in 3/4 time or with songs where there are a lot of tempo changes. I just kept trying it and strangely it "got better." Now it works pretty much perfectly. I agree it is too easy - at least in the bad old days it made folks think about music and really - give their ears a workout. I've paid my dues, so I'm happy with it. Only 10 years late...as you said this was possible imho years ago.
Great comparison video! So glad you made this - The difference is like night and day. Definitely will be cool on standalone Push 3. I'm hopelessly trying to restrain myself from buying one, but it's only a matter of time haha. Do you see yourself getting a Push 3?
I’ve tried so many samplers and various daw based sampling techniques from mpc to reason/drrex/recycle to maschine and simpler. I want to like simpler so much but I have a hard time not using Serato Sample. It’s not perfect but imo has the best time stretching. And the ease of use just trumps everything. It has key detection and auto chopping that just works. Hopefully this update will help with my use of simpler. Ableton time stretch is damn good too. Serato Sample is so good I always used it when sampling in maschine.
Yeah, I'm sure Serato Sample is awesome, but I always prefer to use the built-in sampler in Maschine (where it integrates with the controller, I don't use mouse or keyboard there, nor do I look at the computer display) or Simpler in Ableton, as it integrates seamlessly with the UI.
I didn't know about this. Thanks for the heads up... You know, i think this is s precursor to audio stems like serato and other dj software now has. I'm hoping anyway🙏🏿
It was always going to be tricky warping that track against the drums because the track is shuffled and the drums aren't. Ableton did an okay job considering, though.
There’s still something weird going on with the update tho because I took a track and isolated the instrumental and vocals and dropped them into their own tracks and they didn’t match up at all
Why is it weird? As I said in the video it doesn’t work too well with acapellas. You can export the warped track, isolate the vocals from that and then import the vocals unwarped, that should work.
@@LowHeatBeats let me explain. I initially dropped both tracks separately into a project and they synced up perfectly, then for some reason I deleted then reapplied them but they haven’t been able to sync up since…
@@solprovidermusic Aahh, got it, Yeah it does that when you import them for the second time. Right-click on that one warp marker it has created in the beginning of the file and choose Warp From Here, this should re-apply the auto-warp algorithm.
I'm sure it will come some day, however Ableton are very conservative with introducing new features, so it may not be soon. I do like that approach though. It's the reason why they have the clean and fast workflow and not a bloated mess of options.

On some long samples autowarp didn't worked it left the samples unwarped when i dragged them out of the ableton browser maybe a bug but on most samples it did worked really great😊
Can you have varying tempo in Ableton? Usually one would set a tempo, maybe 120 bpm. But can it change the tempo within a track? So maybe go from 100 to 110 then to 120 then to 95? So also record a live song on myself, where i constantly change the tempo, and then i have many regions with different tempo?
I noticed some of the features on the Push 3 seem to make it go head to head with the Roland SP 404 Mk2. My question is why does Ableton feel threatened by the SP?
Thanks for this info! This seems amazing, I’m new to Ableton so I’ll definitely check it out. Could this new feature be used in reverse to warp a drum beat (like an exact digital 4/4 beat from software) and make it speed up and slow down to match and play along with a classic song/sample?
@@LowHeatBeats that’s amazing! I’ll now have to figure out how to get the project tempo to match the speed variations of some classic Burt Bacharach songs so that it’ll warp my ezdrummer loops to match! Thanks for your quick reply! Subbed!
