Number one tip is learn to not care, learn to make mistakes. Learn to not give a damn about making mistakes and know that you are good. Practice and so you know you can make shots etc imagine how many times kobe missed a shot

@@ryyxzz_-_-6328 It’s what happens man, just don’t make yourself feel bad. If you mess up practice until you can barely mess up. Then no one can tell you anything. And when your teammates mess up don’t bring them down just worry about yourself

I agree on this one now when I think. I was once going 1v1 against someone I knew had at least 3-5 years more experience than me and he was also way taller and basically he had all advantages I could think of. But then when I was under with 8 points and and I still hadn’t gotten a single point I though to my self there is no way I’ll lose this bad to anyone. That was a big motivator for me to keep on going and then I scored 1 point and then it kept going I didn’t miss a single shot and then we were tied with 8-8. I still lost after that but that just motivated me to get even better at the game.

Cj _ I gotcha man. I’ve been there. Trust me I know the frustration. Here’s what I’d say to the younger me: In addition to everything in this video, make sure you are in the gym outworking everybody. You have to. You have to LOVE the grind.
You should love the grind so much that you aren’t even affected by the outcomes. If you have a great game, you go back and work harder. If you play terrible, you go back and work harder. Process process process. When you’re in the game the only thing you’re worried about is doing your best. The process. Don’t worry about makes or misses or any of the outcomes. The makes will come will you commit to the process.
Keep working hard and doing the right things and eventually the right things will happen to you. I promise. Results aren’t linear but in the end it’ll work out if you do the right things.
Also, don’t be afraid to take L’s. Go find the best players in your area and play against them as much as you can. Play people who are better than you. Don’t be afraid if you get crossed up and lose to someone. You’ll get better and eventually you’ll be good enough to be on their level and your confidence will steadily increase. Again it’s all about getting better.
Ultimately, be addicted to the game. Live it and breathe it. Seek out people who will make you raise your game. That will get you the confidence you need.

Needed to re watch this. I'm in 8th grade and a couple days ago was my first high school level basketball practice, and i wasn't hitting shots, wasn't filling in spots, couldn't gaurd anyone. Caught myself hitting myself in the head after mess ups then realized i needed to re watch this. Tmr is my 2nd and ima treat it like its my last, gotta show these future coaches and teammates what i got.

One time I broke a high school kid’s ankles after he smack talked me, but I didn’t let him get into my head and then I broke his ankles. Another time I won a three point contest at my school by not missing a single chit the entire contest of 3 rounds

this is kind of long but here i go..
so, i played travel for 2 seasons in 2018 and beginning of 2019 and was not that good, and got very burnt out and hated playing. so i decided quit and then play rec for one season, which ended february 2020 and was pretty good on my team and enjoyed not have so much stress put on me like i did during travel, and then covid happened so i haven't played for over 2 years. recently i've gone outside and just practiced shooting but i am kind of realizing i wanna start getting back into it. i am not very confident on defense and if was wondering if anyone has tips! but this video is definitely very helpful

I was cut my sophmore year and have since then worked harder and put just as much or more gym time as anyone else thats on the team. I have improved astronomically, and am now playing with the team in summer league. The only problem is that it tend to freeze when given oppurtunity to prove myself, and now i am going to be a junior and as of our first practice i was placed with the freshman and sophmores, barely even the JV team. I want this so bad and I know I can do it, but i just struggle to figure out how to become a consistant ballplayer. Somedays i am actually one of the best playing on the court, varsity included, while others I probably look like I have no clue what Im doing. Like i said I work hard and I know that my coaches know I do, but it feels like i just have to take a few more steps and all of a sudden i will be a completely different player, its like the feeling that im almost there, but not quite. Like im being teased. Can anyone relate?

Last time I played was March of 2020, now that I play again I lost all my confidence. Imma try this out for sure.

Confidence comes either from hard work (training at the gym) or Talent (born with natural skills)… so let’s be real here, confidence can’t be achieved just from thin air , it’s EARNED !!!

You can always do the old countdown where your hitting the game winning shot. Pretend you just came back from 18 in the 4th quarter and your family is on the sidelines watching. The dude your playing against has been doubting you the whole year up until this point .Almost like he's your nemesis and if you don't make it you lose the championship game against the guy and in front of the people you love. You envision all the hard work it took to get there .From late night hoop sessions on the basketball court. To shooting free throws at 3am. Your girlfriend blows you a kiss for confidence. People are booing cuz its an away game. The coach says the play is gona come to your side once the Point gard passes it to you.He gets stripped somehow before that can happen. However you get the ball back with a few seconds. You get pass a few defenders as you make your way to the hoop. 3 seconds left 2 seconds .The ball is in your hands with every eye in slow motion watching ..... now make the shot.

I’m so good at the game but always over think when I end up missing or want to do something like if there’s is a player on my teams hats better than me I always try to give them the ball even tho I can do almost everything they can
