    Clear useful explanation of slatted rack. Thank you. ("Met" you in Bruce/brucebees' video of Hive Alive).

    For the longest of time I wondered WTH those were used for... (And didn't bother looking it up heheheh) Thank you Jason for this, and I guess also accidentally proving that patience has its rewards 🤣

    I like my slatted racks and I love the ones I got for my nucs from you. Keeping the bees in the hive at night reduces the loses due to opossums and skunk visits at night too. I like to drill the hole for my OA treatments int he slatted rack to so I don't hit any frames. Thanks for sharing!

    Jason, good video! I’ve never tried a slotted rack and never looked into or studied the reasons for using one but because of your video I understand the logic for using one. Thanks!

    One more benefit! Can drill the vaporizer hole in the back of rack and less chance to get the hot pipe against low hanging comb (😬🔥)

    Great video Jason on slatted racks. I have them under all my colonies but I use solid bottom boards. I have never tried a colony without one so I can't say how well they work. I definitely get some fun drone comb built under there and once a queen cell I found emerged after they swarmed.

      James. Good to hear beeks that run solids find value also. The buffer space is one of the key benefits. It is a bit disruptive to the “bee space” and can see where the bees would build comb/cells in a solid bottom scenario. Again I think they are a great addition to a hive setup.

    Sounds like maybe a 16 foot trailer would work for hauling totes and boxes and supplies that way you don’t tie up your truck

    Great video I've seen these for sale but didn't understand completely what the point was. I like the way you explane things. I'm not that far from you. I'm on the eastern shore as well. Once we get into the season I'd like to come check out your setup. I'm in my 2nd year of beekeeping so im trying to soak up knowledge like a sponge. Free labor for a day?

    How about a deep box with 10 1" wide dummy frames, is bigger/deeper better?

    • @BohemiaBees
      @BohemiaBees  Рік тому +1

      I think I understand what you are suggesting but why dummy frames. That seems like a lot of wasted space and a deep with 10 frames costs $60-$75 whereas a slatted rack cost $30 on average.

      And a slatted rack the Dimensions of a deep would be heavy

    Hi Jason,
    Great video!!! Very good explanation of the slatted rack. I use them all the time!!!
    In your video, it looks like you have some sort of white entrance reducers, one on the left side and one on the right side of the entrance. I have looked on your web site, but could not find them. Can you tell me what they are and how they work and where can they be purchased?
    Thank you !!!
