Reconstruction and opening of an outpatient clinic in Izyum, Kharkiv region, Ukraine | Project HOPE

  • Izyum, Kharkiv region - The city of Izyum in Kharkiv region was liberated from the Russians on September 10, 2022. During the Russian troops' stay in the city, 80% of the infrastructure was destroyed.
    In total, according to the Ministry of Health, as a result of the Russian aggression in Ukraine, 177 medical facilities were completely destroyed and more than 1,500 were damaged.
    Among them was the main building of the Izyum Primary Health Care Center, which was badly damaged and currently cannot be rehabilitated. In coordination with the Kharkiv Regional State Administration and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, and also funding and support from Rolls-Royce PLC, Project HOPE decided to rebuild one of the clinic buildings, which was also damaged during the shelling, to serve as an outpatient clinic for nearly 38,000 people.
    The work took 5 months and the total cost of the restoration amounted to over USD 200,000. During this time, the following works were performed: replacement of windows, doors and roof; repair of the porch, including the installation of an elevator for people with disabilities; engineering and finishing works; improvement of the facade; and new furniture was purchased.
    On April 23, 2024, the rehabilitated clinic began a new chapter in its life.

Thank you" - Ivan Syrovatko, strategic director of Project HOPE in Ukraine, thanked the medical staff for their dedication.
    Yulia Vrodzinska, Director of the Izyum City Primary Health Care Center, said, "I am grateful to Project HOPE for the invaluable support you have provided since the liberation of our city from the Russians. You helped rebuild the building of our city clinic, provided new premises so that our city community could receive medical care in decent conditions: convenient, affordable, comfortable.
    After the opening remarks, the participants officially opened the clinic by cutting the ceremonial ribbon and taking a tour to see the updated rooms and see how the reconstruction process went.
    "I really want to thank you that despite the security situation, you are here with us today, that you are with us every day, and I hope that we will also have really powerful projects that we will implement together," - added the deputy head of the Kharkiv Regional Council . council - Valery Dzyuba.
    Currently, the clinic has two family doctors ready for appointments, as well as manipulation, procedure and laboratory offices.
    To date, Project HOPE has completed works in 17 buildings of 12 healthcare facilities across Ukraine in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv oblasts that serve over 400,000 patients a year.
    Currently, the construction team is focused on the renovation project of the rehabilitation department of the Mykolaiv Regional Clinical Hospital.
