I was thrown by: "Each person is wearing a mask of exactly one color" and then: "Logicians wearing at least 2 different colors gained entry at the fourth bell"
"Each person is wearing a mask of exactly one color" =/= "There is exactly one mask of each color". You've just demonstrated the Fallacy of the Converse, assuming the reverse relation is true. The purpose of the statement was to clarify that nobody was wearing mixed-color masks. Your basic logic is clearly flawed if you fell into that simple fallacy.
Let’s be very clear: the hardest part of this riddle is internalizing the idea that someone could base their own decisions on the presumption that other people act logically.
Solution: Step 1: Confirm you have green eyes Step 2: Ask the demon to enter the party also, this is really similar to the green eyes problem also, this used to be called the Logicians Rave riddle, idk why they changed the title name
This is logic. It’s the complete opposite of how people online engage. Everyone wants to justify or create the exception to the rule. That doesn’t solve general problems, nor is it logical.
I have to say, the whole "Logicians wearing at least two different colors" part was kind of confusing, since it was established that each mask only has one color. It probably could have been worded to be less ambiguous. But bravo, TED, this was a toughie!
"the masks are distributed in such a way that it will eventually be possible for everyone to figure out their mask color through logic alone, and everyone is aware of this" That's such a vague rule. And yet from that I'm supposed to deduce that there aren't any unique mask colors among the crowd. I understand that just giving away "there aren't any unique colored masks among them" would make things too obvious, but the way it's worded could mean anything. Maybe the remaining masks are arranged in such a way that you can you can safely guess your mask fits a pattern. Yeah that wouldn't ACTUALLY be logically sound, but it's not like riddles on this channel were immune to that kind of logic before.
@@alex2005z however there are two examples in the first round without a pair. If you choose the wrong one, the order is ruined as now someone else will reason they are the nonexistent 3rd for the pair

Hey, was this one written specifically for everyone who saw the Green Eyes riddle? Because you basically have to use the same logic as that one to determine how people are able to leave, then do a bunch of math based on that to determine how many people are left at various points.
The riddle isn't hard when you know there are pairs. I'm not convinced it is solvable unless you're given this fact. I was stuck questioning whether the premise of the riddle is possible. In the riddle, the logicians are able to "deduce" that there must be one other color of the same kind or it is impossible to determine what colors to choose from. Is this true? I assumed a simplified scenario with two logicians. Each only sees one color and it is "logically possible" to determine each other's color. I concluded that this is a paradox. The only conclusion each logician can make is that the colors has to be *related in some way*. They could be the same. They could be complimentary colors. They could be inverses. How are the logicians supposed to know that the way they are related is that they're the same? If they can't, the premise of the problem doesn't work. They need more information. This creates a paradox because we are told that it is "logically possible" when it isn't.
