I wished I had discovered your videos sooner, my puppy yorkie is now 1 yr and 3months and I had so much trouble with her pet food, as she is so so much a picky eater, and she had stomach issues including allergies to some pet foods, I finally found what works for her, I make her own food preferably chicken and a kibble mix from yum woof a tablespoon of that n mix with her food OMG she loves it up. Trial and error months of trying this and that “Whew” had I watched your videos it would’ve saved me frustration n sadness lol but she’s so healthy and happy now, keep up the blogs I look forward to them n your puppy n you are so cute together ❤️

Potty pads work great in the sense of training the dog that if they don’t have access to outside that they use the bathroom on the pad. However you have to keep that up through their life span for them to fully understand. My memes senior dogs use a potty pad that’s always in one spot so they understand when she’s not home they go to the potty pad and not on the floor

Thanks for this video, so helpful. I have been working on switching my toy poodle puppy from hills science diet to primal dog food (we like the raw kibble) & he is not having it. Still working with him on it. I’m hoping he catches on soon bc I’m ready to phase out the kibble

We are getting a puppy in two weeks we are very excited. I just came across your channel last night and we are soaking up all the information. Me and my mum have been trying to convince my dad to get a dog but now for Xmas we are getting a Shih Poo puppy! (Shih Tzu X Poodle) I am sooo excited!!! I've seen some pictures of the pups from the breeder we are getting him from and they are the cutest little babies I have EVER seen!!!

Since you're feeding Nova raw (adorable name btw I love it) make sure to either heat up or leave it in the cold for long enough so all the bacteria goes away so there's little to no chance of her getting sick from salmonella (which you could get from her) or ecoli, just want you and Nova to be safe!!

You do not need to heat up raw food to get rid of the bacteria. Do some research.

How much do you feed the raw diet and how many times a day. My girl is 8 weeks. Also I have been doing the potty like you said and she has not had one accident in the house. Thank you for sharing!
I just got my shipooh recently and am really debating switching to raw or home cooked. But how do you prevent salmonella or bacteria from the meat from spreading on you and around your house when u feed the raw diet?

Look for potty pads on EZwhelp! They are reusable and you can wash them! They also look better

I just got my puppy today and I am thinking of taking him out every 2 hours at midnight to potty in my backyard, however, in the morning and afternoon I want him to do potty in the front yard on real grass. Would this be too confusing? Or how can I alter this schedule?

Me and my sister got a shorkie but hers looks more like a shih tzu than a Yorkie and mine looks more like a Yorkie he looks just like your nova he’s just 3 months old and still looks small
You should put only one pad in a corner and her water and meals in the order corner and her little bed far from the pad. I did that with my puppy and it was a success for her training.

Emma Azure You can follow the instructions on the type of food you are going to feed them. It generally tells you how much based on their weight. I don’t think there’s a certain age to when you can give them a bath. Nova got a bath the day she came home because the lady wanted her to be nice and fresh for me! Just don’t bathe your puppy too often or that can dry out their fur and skin and make them itchy. I suggest every 2 weeks is a good time to bathe 😊

Congratulations on the new puppy! I’ve gotten a couple of questions about this and would love to answer in my next video! But I definitely recommend bringing a potty pad for the car ride and a blanket so they feel safe and in case they throw up from getting motion sickness. Also be sure to puppy proof before bringing them home and I highly recommend getting a crate 😊

Great video! I’m getting a puppy in a few weeks and I had a question about potty training at night. So if Nova is still sleeping you wake her up every 2 hours to go potty?
Hi Melissa! That is correct! I just pick her up and bring her to her designated potty area and generally she does go. But if she doesn’t within 5 minutes then I just put her back into her crate. I find this really helps with her discomfort when she wakes up for the day at 5:30. One time I didn’t do this through out the night and she woke up around 5 crying and whining because she had to go so badly and when I opened the door to her crate she jumped out and peed right there. Every dog is different though, but I just found this is something that’s very useful with Nova. I hope this helps! 😊
As puppies grow and get older they are more able to hold their bladder. But I believe it’s something like for every month they are that’s generally how long they can hold their bladder as puppies. Now she can hold her bladder longer throughout the night and I just let her pee right before bed and at 5:30 😊

I go to my local pet store and can find it in the freezer section. I just prefer shopping local pet stores because they make it and freeze it themselves and just want to support local businesses. We never fed my dog puppy food when he was a puppy. He ate adult food (kibble and wet) A dog trainer educated me on the fact that puppy formulated food is actually BAD for puppies as they lack a lot of nutrition where as adult food can be packed with much needed nutrients a puppy needs, plus a lot of the time once a puppy gets use to puppy formulated food, it’s hard to switch them to adult Bc they arnt use to it. My puppy was sickly when we got him he was in an abusive situation so we took him even tho he was like 6-7 weeks old. When we switched from puppy to adult his growth and health blossomed rapidly where as with puppy food he was showing no signs of getting better or getting weight on him. We’ve switched kibble with zero problems thankfully. And now he eats a very expensive kibble that is mixed with moist pieces of real beef and he LOVES it and looks so healthy so it’s worth the price. One day when I’m financially capable I would love to try a raw fed diet! He eats raw scraps here and there but we can’t afford to the diet rn.

Hi! I actually get her food from a local independent pet store in my city so it's actually their own brand. The 3 lbs bag is around $9 CAD and it lasts us about 2 weeks 😊

My vet and breeder are completely against raw feeding (it’s against my breeder’s health contract). Domesticated dogs evolved eating kibble, grains, etc. Although, they did eat raw meat before the domestication process, they aren’t wolves anymore. Not only is there a safety issue with handling raw meat, the pup also has a higher risk of nutritional deficiencies. The nutrition from vegetables are best absorbed by dogs when they are lightly cooked vs raw (proven by science). Raw feeding is still relatively new and there’s not many reliable studies that suggest that it’s significantly better. With that said, I believe people choose to feed their dogs what they think is best.
Yes, there’s always going to be debate about what’s best but ultimately in the end puppy parents will do what they think is best for their fur baby. I definitely take extra precaution when dealing with her raw food with sanitation and temperature and also make sure to switch proteins and supplement with extra if I feel the need. My puppy just turned 3 months and idk if its normal that she goes potty by herself at nights or if do i have to help her. I also Let her have her water in her playpen at nights too because she wakes to drink it
So does she sleep in a play pen or a crate at night? Or is it like attached together? Nova sleeps in a crate in my room separate from her play pen and I don't provide her with water in it. I cut off her water intake 2 hours before she goes to sleep and make sure that she goes potty before she goes to sleep in the crate. Before I would wake up multiple times throughout the night to take her potty but now that she's a little older she can hold her bladder throughout the whole night from 10pm to 5:30 am.

Try not to give them water or food before they lay for bed, it saves the trips! They won’t have to pee through the night.. goodluck!

Everyone please don’t mix kible with barf diet is not good for the dog, its a different type of digestion and it can be harmful, ( just my opinion based on research and vets opinions, do want you consider best for the puppy )

this is the only video i have ever really heard say that you need to take them out every 2-3 hours over night. cause seriously they cant hold it and i have literally heard somebody say they switched their puppys food like five different times because he was going potty in the crate over night. like really... DO YOUR RESEARCH
