Thanks for another great upload! As an old-school I-formation running game fan, I'm very happy to see that both USC and Auburn run the I-formation back in 2003. Today's spread offenses just don't have the same appeal to me.
Agreed, I hate 50 plus passes and stud RB's just being wasted running laterally outta the shotgun. No post up game in the NBA all shooting has done the same thing to me there too.
I remembered this game. Auburn was ranked as high as #2 in the coach's poll. And USC had a solid season the year prior only losing 2 games. Pete Carroll was able to truly implement an NFL-like system into the USC Trojans football program when he took over and this 1st game in the 2003 season demonstrated their dominance over a very good Auburn Football program. The nation at that time was surprised how USC not only won this game but how they shut down the Auburn offense. I don't even think Auburn entered the red zone once against a stout USC defense. All this domination in Auburn's house.
Hershel Dennis was a legit upcoming RB, I first seen him play at Long Beach Poly and was amazed. Red shirted his freshman year, so I couldn’t wait for him to get a shot. Messed up and had an incident at school. Lost the starting job to none other than Mr.Reggie Bush. Crazy story.
Really enjoying these classic games. I'm a few years passed since posting, but still great nonetheless. With being said this is when the SEC killers came about.
Lincoln Riley and his staff could use this tape to teach defense, tackling, and angles...were there mistakes, yes, but there were so many more good things imo
Alabama dodged SC...SC wanted to play all the best teams and tried to make it happen, but all didn't bite...SCs confidence and success may have ruffled a few feathers and led to being targeted ultimately leading to their downfall of and great run...Jealously, Jealously, Jealously!!!
Looks like the only other USC games I have from then are 05 Arizona State (from ESPN Classic condensed version) and 05 Fresno State, which I downloaded from I believe CFin30. I can probably repost it though and credit him for the edit if you hadn't seen it.
@@JWill-xc1cr They're already finished edits so they're going up now. Actually I see the 05 USC-Oregon game is also on yt so i'll work on that one as well when I get back to editing.
3 turnovers deep in your own territory led to 17 USC points is hardly a beatdown. More like USC capitalized on Auburns mistakes, which is whats supposed to happen. If Auburn had no turnovers, then its probably a 6-0 game.
I still think USC would have won that playoff. 03 was the season they really needed it. The whole LSU/USC thing never got resolved. LSU, Oklahoma, USC and Michigan would have been a great playoff and it actually ended up working out that way. LSU beat OU in the Sugar Bowl and USC beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Just needed LSU and USC to battle it out.
Would love to see the 2002 game between these two as well. Never seen a replay of this home and home. Not sure if i watched all of this one. Dont remember it being on CBS
I don't have the 02 game, although I see kind of a lower quality 240p version is on yt. I downloaded it and opened it in 480 and I think it looks okay so i'll likely go ahead and do it when I resume editing. I'm just always a bit nervous about editing a lower quality version of a game and with my luck, shortly after a crystal clear version shows up and i've already done the game.
This was actually a 5:00 start, as CBS, with a rare opportunity to showcase USC, sandwiched this game into the middle of US Open coverage. Usually they don't show games the first 2 weeks of the season.
Auburn is no match for the Mighty Trojans. EVER! The SEC teams can only beat USC in down years. OTHERWISE, IT’S ALWAYS A BLOOOOOOOOOOOWOOOOOOUUUUUUUTTTTTTTT! USC COLLECTS ANOTHER WIN! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was at this game, me and my girlfriend all dressed in USC gear sitting in a sea of Auburn fans. And everyone was awesome to us, great fans at Auburn
Love all these classic USC games!
Mike Williams was the best true freshman WR I ever watched in 2002. Moss and Crabtree were both red shirt freshman and so was Fitzgerald.
Fitz went to Prep School, no redshirt
Thanks for uploading this one! It was going to be SC's year.
No one has represented the Pac 12 in the national spotlight like SC has .

David K, I agree as well. I'm a Bama fan, but really admired these Auburn teams from the early 2000's. That 2004 team was amazing!
Every team runs similar philosophies due to rules favoring offense so much. It's watered down the product
now that saban retired are u bama fans going back to being auburn fans?@@tmarsh0307
I miss that DEFENSE! We need a Wild Bunch 3!
Those were the good ole days!! Glory of Troy!! FIGHT ON!✌🏽

His mom lived in the same apartment complex in Bellflower that I did back in 2007. Really nice family. Fight On, “Patch” Dennis!
I went to Poly with USC tailback Herschell Dennis. Down to earth dude and one of the best tailbacks to ever come out the west. Deserves flowers
It's going to be great hearing Big 10 football with the CBS Sports College football music in 2023.
BugTen Football can suck it XXX

they coming back
What a first start! Win against auburn.

Dominated a great Auburn team in Alabama. I wish USC would have played LSU or maybe Georgia in the Pete Carroll era.
Nick Saban was Scared of Pete Carroll when he was at LSU. Pete Carroll said he would call SEC coaches to set up matches and they'd hang up on him lol.
@@SportZFan4L1fe Now that is funny. 😂

Nice upload. If you have the games it would be awesome if you did either the 04 or 05 seasons of SC

My bad, turns out i'd already uploaded the Fresno game.
I am watching this 20 year old game just to enjoy Tommy Tuberville getting outcoached and his ass kicked!
Just a complete and utter beat down on the road against an sec team. Carroll owned the sec during his sec tenure

The sec wasn't talking that wolf shit when USC was at top they were crying sheep 💀 fight on ✌🏾✌🏾
Ppl may not now this but Hershel Dennis beat out Reggie for the starting spot at RB that year at USC.
Dennis was a top 5 recruit anf had earned the spot. As the season went on White and Bush carried the load
Matt Leinart was choking on those pass plays. His completions percentage might’ve been under 50%
Dominant defensive effort !! This is what we need in 2023!!
I-Formation is back on the Plains since 2000
That Trojan defense was fast!
Man it would have been bad ass if there was a playoffs in 2004. USC, OKLAHOMA, AUBURN and UTAH/TEXAS for the 4th spot.

2002 game was a classic. USC pulled it out in final minute
Tommy Tubervill looks like Lane Kiffin
You know me. Everything okay?
This is what happens when your offensive coordinator is an offensive line coach.

Auburn defense was legit that year. Just didnt put it together until 2004
Are you kidding? Legit to who? Pop Warner teams? Lolololol😂😂😂😂
@@Diegocurt73 how many teams kept USC under 24 points during that run from 2002 to 2005? I know Auburn did it twice.
Not only was this defense fast. They rocked you with fury.
