Hey Shell honestly 👻👻it's so hard I literally reflect light I am like a mirror! 🤣 🤣 you can still watch the live it's on live tab on my channel page, I will do another one around the 1st week of May! I'll be sure to give more notice on the next one 🤭 so glad you like the shed 🥰💖
BRAVO Laura! The plot looks marvelous. You have been working so hard. The pallet potting bench was genius! I'm glad that you will still be sharing the tiny home garden. Congratulations on 1 year. Well done.
Hey Debbie 👋 thank you so much! So pleased you like the plot! I can use all the cubby holes on the pallet as shelves! Lots to get on with in the home garden this weekend 💪 the year has flown can't believe it, see you next week in the home garden, take care xx
So excited by the raised beds! It's amazing how much a crisp border on even a short raised bed makes everything look. It's worth every bit of the cost to put a smile on your face every time you see your garden beds 😁
Definitely a French drain to help drain the mud after a heavy rain is worth a go! Mud is my least favourite part of gardening 😅 I've got clay 'soil' and when it's wet, it sticks to everything. I end up with about 2 inches of mud all around the bottom of my shoes 😣
It's so worth it and the soil will stay nice at the edges rather than tapering off. Roo also kept stepping in the beds and trying to have a 💩 in them!! With the wood edges she sort of knows that they are a no go zone!! Haha I have the same problem, when my boots are like that and full of mud, squelching around the place, I call them my space boots 👨🚀🚀
Oh Laura. What a brilliant update! You have made sooooo much progress. Impressive! So much space as soon as all of the junk from previous tenants has been removed. A bench is a fantastic idea! Even down temporarily, those slabs looks ok Love the plans for the plot. The polycube makes perfect sense now I can visualise it. Was thinking it to the side of the shed before. I was very mindful to place my potting table with the sun behind, totally understand not wanting the sun in your face when potting on.. irrespective of filming issues. Great idea! The raised beds make so much difference. It just looks such clean lines and helpful when the ground is wet. Loving the girl maths giggle. €75 a bed is pretty good, given the size of them. I’ve just pulled up some carrots from my polytunnel centre bed. I didn’t expect them to work, for all the reasons you thought. Surprised me! They were ok and cleared grew through the cardboard too. Don’t rule them out. What a lovely giveaway. Hard to believe your channel is only come up to 12 months old x
Hey Clare!! It's finally taking shape and looks like a growing space!! 🤩 my quick maths is terrible 🤣🤣 it wasn't too bad cost wize and the wood will last a few seasons! I saw your lovely carrots 🤩 harvesting at this time of the year is just amazing 👏 Plants are so robust and just want to grow, food for thought, thank you!!! Looking forward to doing the giveaway, entries open next week 🍀
You've done great Laura things are looking great now. Beds look good & the slabs have been made to good use, you need a fold up chair to sit outside lol. Its a shame about all the water hope you can sort ut out somehow love. Keep up the good work, have a lovely weekend x
Hey Carol 👋 thank you so much! I have to get a lovely chair don't I and a small table and a camping stove to make tea 😁 the water sure is a pain but the drains will help and a robust hose/tap system. Hope you have a lovely evening and the sun is shining tomorrow!! 🌞🤞x
Wow Laura what a brilliant job you've done already 😯 the work you've done will pay dividends lm sooooo impressed.lm in the throughs of sorting my shed out as the potting bench takes up half the space so thankyou for this idea 👌 you should be very very proud of yourself 👏👏👏👏🌱🌱🌱
Thank you so much Joyce it's been so fun, lots of hours but it's paying off bit by bit 🤩 I am loving the extra space in the shed! I might make a collapsible shelf system to go along the window for any over flow plants, we'll see, so many ideas!!
Hi Laura WOW the plot is looking so good you have put in so much hard work - i think the keaking connection should be easily fixed by replacing it with a new fitting 👍 - the patio looks great where it is 👍 - i do feel that although the shed set up is great for filming i would have been tempted to use the old potting bench cut down and reised onstead of the pallets. There just seems to be alot of wasted space in not being able to use that floor space 🤔 - i would jave definitely kept the metal cabinets as there is obviously a rodent problem on your plot 👍 - as you are getting rid of the metal cabinet and in the spirit of repurposing it I would use it as a raised bed. Take off the doors, drill plenty of holes in the back and flip it over. This would provide a good depth for root crops or perhaps a taised backing for your seating nook or a bed behind the shed 😁 - if you ate concerned about planting vegetables with long tap roots this year perhaps try short carrot 'Parisian Market' or similar 🙂 - does the site as a whole have a drainage problem? It's worth investigating before starting putting drainage pipes as ther might not be anywhere for it to drain 🤔 - if the plot has a long term drainage problem then perhaps woodchip paths might be the way to go 🤔 Can't wait to see what comes next 👍
Hey Carol 👋 I can't believe I missed this message and I am only finding it now!! 😞 I am so sorry!! The shed set up is only temporary I will upgrade it and make under counter storage for sure!! I may even be moving the shed this week, I've discovered the pebbles and stones at the front of the plot is actually hard core and pretty useless for planting. I either dig it all out or move the shed there 🫣 your the first person to know this mighty plan!! When I got the plot I was told the soil is good in the upper end of the site where I have my plot. The plots further down the hill, I have been told are much more water logged. I was speaking my neighbour last week and they mentioned it can be very wet with the rain and in the summer it completely dries out and cracks 🤔 I really wanted grass paths, I think they look so nice and I could walk around with no shoes on in the summer and Roo would be more comfy when she lays down! Decisions decisions!! Xx
Your raised beds are fabulous! Thank you for sharing your journey. My ancestors are from Ireland and although I garden in South Western Ontario, it feels like home for some reason when I watch your videos. You've accomplished so much in a short time. Cheers and happy gardening Laura
Hey Paula 👋 so pleased you like the beds! Oh wow that's so cool you have irish heritage! Its a small world we really are connected closer than we realise! Thank you so much, that is such a lovely thing to say, happy gardening and looking forward to catching up with you in the next one! 🌧🇨🇦🇮🇪
Well done Laura on all the hard work that you have done, i remember when you first showed us this allotment and all the stuff that had to be done on it, and i even said that i wish i could come over and give you a hand shifting it all, but you did it all by yourself and i'm not surprised that you are so chuffed with what you have done, it looks brilliant. As for the leaky hose pipe, it looks to be just a replacement washer is needed on that hozelock fitting, they are cheap enough to buy and make sure you get the right size as there are loads of sizes, you need the one to go inside that fitting and fingers crossed it's not the fitting itself. Take Care and well done again on all your hard work 🎉🥳 Barry (the Wirral, ENG)
Hey Barry 👋 lovely to hear from you! Thank you so much and I remember you saying that! The plot is finally clear, such a good feeling and it's starting to feel like mine! Such a shame with those hose lock attachments, they were from my home garden, less than 12 months old and only went through 1 frost. I'll check the O ring and find a replacement 🤞the pressure is really strong...almost like a jet washer it's that powerful 🤣 appreciate the continued support and all the helpful tips along the way! 🙌
Only found your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching your videos ever since 😂 plots are like gold dust around here so living my allotment dreams through your videos! x
Thank you Bird 🥰 it really feels like a growing space now, all I need is a bit better weather and to start doing some planting! So glad you like all my plans they are forever evolving 😆
My dog would be so jealous of that lovely cosy space you made for Roo - my shed is full of junk! I’m building a poly tunnel soon so I can see her snoozing in there instead! ❤
They love to find a comfy spot don't they, she's settling well at the plot now! Oh wow a new poly tunnel build, how exciting, perfect opportunity to incorporate a snooze station for your furbaby 🥰❤️
What progress! I think the changes you've made are fab. Dealing with any excess water issues now is brilliant. So easy to lose crops to soggy conditions.
It looks unbelievable, fairplay!! Regarding cardboard and deep vegetables, I had read that by the time the root veg is big enough to reach that layer, the cardboard is usually soft enough for the roots to push through it. It also only takes 2 or 3 months to break down, apparently. So, rather optimistically, I've planted both carrots and parsnips. I you're worried about it, you might at least be able to plant a crop of carrots later in the season, like an early variety?
Hey Helican 👋 I read that too and then I read another article saying it takes up to a year! I love your optimism 🙌🥕 I could definitely do a late sowing that's a good idea 💡 thank you! 🤗
Shed looks brilliant 👏 Love the queens corner complete with bed and toy lol Polycube sounds brilliant 👏 Look at those beds 👏 amazing work 👏 🙌 i have a red pallet bosrd and thats my seat lol Its lookjng brilliant and its suprising how quickly thungs turn around. The slabs as well will help not have a muddy entrance into the shed as its suprising how quicky things get boggy even if a temp measure. Look fwd to the give away and just so you know if we dont get a live soon im starting a petition 😂😂😂😂
I should get her a sign Tracey...Queens Corner or Roo's Gaff 🤣🤣 Starting to feel at home now down at the plot with all the little touches! The flagstones at the front were so handy I went flying in there the other day because of how mucky it was, almost like I had roller skates on! 🛼 Hehe 🙈 I will do another live maybe first week in May when uni finishes up for the the holidays 🤭🫣
First year is the most expensive but it’s an investment for the future, get your compost bins sorted as quick as possible and then you won’t have many ongoing expenses really, as hobbies go, this is a cheaper one.. Looking at how muddy your plot i would agree on the drain, was just going to suggest it but you said it as I was typing (note to self watch all trh video before commenting 😆) Looking good so far ✌️
It certainly is a bit of an upfront cost in the beginning! I hope now with the extra space I can leave a few things go to seed and collect them! I have plans for compost, I'd love to try a hot composter and hot beds! It was very water logged 😵💫 my boots nearly slipped off it was so sludgy, so I definately need to price up the piping and the pea gravel the rest is time and lots of digging! Thank you so much for watching!! ✌️
Wow you have done loads,it looks great. I think you have done very well for the short time you have had the plot, considering all the rain we have had. If you have a Halford near you they give the big cardboard boxes that the bikes come in and they are massive. Well done .
Hey Linda 👋 it has been so rainy we had 29 days straight of rain here 😵💫I just pushed on through it. I was only in Halfords the other day getting wiper blades for the car, I cannot believe I didn't think to ask!! I'd love more big cardboard boxes, my smaller pieces have been a bit like a jigsaw puzzle 🤣
It's inspiring to view your videos. It's so nice to see you working on the plot, in such a nice mix of talking and also showing all work as you do it. You have planned out many goals, and have already are showing such great progress. I started way back at the start, and am looking forward to watching your newer videos in order.
Hey Rita 👋 thank you so much!! I am so glad you enjoy the videos even back at the start when I was really nervous 🙈 so many plans, always changing my mind but that's the joy of gardening and seeing how things work season to season! Thank you for taking the time to send me a lovely message!
Hey Laura. 🙋🏻♀️Love what you did to your shed & your raised beds look amazing. You should feel accomplished! You certainly inspire me Laura! Thank you for sharing & take care my friend!
Hey Cindy 👋 so pleased you like the shed changes! The beds made the space look like a real growing space! I must get seed sowing this week so that I have enough to plant in them!! Hope you have a lovely weekend pottering in the garden, take care until next week 🥰
It might seem like a lot of work now but i think the French drain is a great plan. Its very difficult to get rid of soggy sinky spots with Irish weather 😊. You have the plot looking great, looking forward to the next video x
Hey Sandra 👋 totally agree and with the home garden it's all concrete and I don't get this soggy water problem. It's going to take a bit of muscle and time but definitely going to put in a few drains I might wait for the rain to stop before I attempt it. So greatful I picked a plot at the top of the hill 😅 glad you enjoyed the video, lovely to chat to you 🥰🤗
It lloks great. You worked so hard to get those beds in Laura. We have rottedbeds to replace before June and I know how expensive and hard it is. We usually use 6" x 1" x 4 .5 meter planks. They are not cheap but last ages.
Oh wow Lynn those planks of wood are massive! If I could have got the wood a bit higher (mine are about 5" tall) I think it would help suppress the weeds a bit more! I don't know how long these ones will last, I am on year two with the same wood in the home garden but those beds are sitting on patio! Big hardwood sleepers would be the dream 🤩
Yay! So lovely to see an allotment update 🥰 You've done so much & your space looks sooo goood!! 🥲 Can't wait to see what you grow & how it'll look come summer! I bet it's going to be gorgeous 😍🌸🌻🌱
Thank you Seren! I am looking forward to it now, getting everything planted out and watching it all grow! 🥰🤭 so excited!! I feel like I need to do another mass seed sow!!
That's a cute idea Jackie 💡 there are lots of children on the site I'd worry a little with a pond, even if it was the size of a wash basin I'd still worry 🙈😟 there are swings and climbing frames opposite my plot too, so I am waiting to see if thats a play zone for them!
Hi Laura, the beds look amazing, we'll done 🤛 you sure have been busy and it truly shows with the changes to your lot. I was wondering about your tools for your shed and where you would be storing them ? I bought a silver metal rubbish bin with a lid and I stand up all my tools like shovels, rakes, pitch forks etc... having them standing up in the bin gave me so much more room in my shed. I was also wondering about your pallets 🤔 Tanya on lovely greens has a video on how she turned one pallet into a raised strawberry bed. It looks so cool with all the strawberries 🍓 growing through the slats of the bed 😊. I am curious, will you be planting any fruit bushes on your lot or a fruit tree ? There's soooooo much you can do with your space, it's very exciting 😊 My husband is building me table barrel beds that I plan on growing potatoes in this year. I ,like yourself, love a good challenge with what ideas I can do in the garden . Thanks, Laura, for the plot tour. As always, it's nice to see what changes you've made. 😃 I'm looking forward to your next video. Oh, and your giveaway is probably only for UK / Ireland residents only, right ? Have a great week /weekend 👋😃
Hey Julie 🤗 lovely to hear from you!! I was thinking of stowing them down the side of the potting bench and maybe some hooks on the wall 😅 I've kicked them over so many times! My neighbour has a gorgeous fruit loganberry Berry espalier (I'd like to taste one and then plant one if i like it) and my other neighbour has gooseberries, and I will take a cutting! There's a red currant in the car park of my housing area I am going to take a cutting from that too! Your potato plans sound so brilliant!! 👏 so glad you enjoy seeing the changes! About the giveaway, absolutely its worldwide! I was thinking about how this would work in USA in particular and the electricity systems ⚡️🔌. I will cover shipping, and it's important to me that all susbscribers can enter to be in for a chance to win 🏆. Here we are 240v, are there attapters that could work for those on 120v electricity grids?
Yes there are transformers / Adapters you can get here. That's awesome that you can get cuttings from these bushes 😃 I have gooseberry and all the currant bushes in my orchard, not only are they tasty but they are nice-looking shrubs ☺️ Your neighbors Logan berry sounds delightful 😀 Have a good day 😀
Oh that's brilliant I hope the adapters aren't too expensive to get hold of. I checked Gardeners Supply but they only sell heat mats and really want to include the trays and lids as well and a set! Obviously, I'd love to send the brand of the one I've used because I know it works!! The leaves on the fruit bushes are lovely 😍
During the live I remember being a tad confused about what a polycube was 😂 the cogs have begun turning and now remember 😅. The new beds look great 😍. I'm tired just watching you working hard lugging those slabs about 💪. Have a great week and see you next time 🌱🌱
Hey Joe 👋 that's my biggest problem I think I am making sense, when really I just confuse myself and everyone around me! 🤣 love the news beds, sets off the space and will keep on the compost in place! The slabs are so heavy I think it took me an 1 or so to move them in front of the shed 🤣 I do feel a bit stronger each time I go to the plot though 💪 hope the rain stops and you get a decent time in the garden this week ☀️🤞
Amazing how busy your allotment site is! Ours is so quiet! Great that you are making your shed your own space that works for you. Lovely bed for Roo. Love how you have different camera holders. I cannot wait to see your future poly cube! Your beds look fab!!!👍 You budgeted very well! Making drains is a good plan, so important in the long term! 😘💕🌸
My Allotment site is the place to be!! 🎶🎸💃🎤 looking forward to my turn on the kareoke next year! 🤣 thrilled with the shed and Roo is so much happier that she has a nice big cushion to lay on. The mounts are so handy I only had 1 to start with and then I bought another two so handy to pop the camera on and off, no faff with the tripod! I tried my best to get the most out of my money for the beds 🙈 lots of digging to do for the drains but will wait for the ground to dry out a bit before I start that 🥵🛠xx
Congratulations on your one year anniversary! I must jokingly say I did miss the puppy/supervisor in this video. 😢. Thank you for the video. 😊. Looking forward to the next one.
Hey 👋 thank you so much 🎉 awh I was only telling her the other day she is the star of the show! She will be back next week no doubt! We will be filming in the garden together hopefully 🥰
I think what you've done to the shed is a huge improvement, especially for filming. It's a much better place for making videos. I'm surprised you can manage to sound so good from a shed. 😊
Nice update Laura, you could always de panel a few of your pallets and knock up a couple of small 2ft deep planters to bung in some carrots and parsnips, cultivate underneath so if they need to go further they can, until you get the area sorted. Just an idea if you want to grow some longer roots on the plot instead of the tiny garden?
I think I'm going to need a carrot box, I cannot for love nor money germinate carrots I need a box, so I can bring them inside and look after them for a bit 😆😅 both sowings have been eaten! I didn't realise how valuable these pallets would be!!
@@thetinygarden_ not meaning to tell you what to do, but we did a similar thing on my shed, and it compromised the side of the shed, ending in a bigger repair. If you put a length of wood from one upright to the other, just below the top, but above where you're going to cut out from, and screw it in good and tight, you should be ok. Can't show you mine as we no longer have that plot.
Hey Stella I have raided tescos of all the cardboard recently 🤭 I am going to move onto the big stores that sell bikes and electrical goods, apparently they have loads of big boxes! So pleased with the beds 😍
Wow !! Amazing progress ! So impressed with those beds and all the hardwork you've put in 🥇Its going to be a lovely plot due to your hardwork .Happy first anniversary 🎉
Hey Laura, havent been on your channel for awhile and now i see you have an allotment!! Wow im 2 years into a waiting list in Newcastle :) Looks great and much moire space for you!
Hey Lee, great to hear from you! Yes all go at the allotment to get it some way ready for this season 🤞 hope those gutters worked out for you last season and those blue/purple potatoes were good too! Take care!
Hey Laura, the plot is looking great now, so is the shed. You have been a busy little bee havent you. I love the idea of the mounts in different places, now thats something i wouldnt have thought about. Love the beds, you have done a great job of them. All in all you have done a fantastic job Laura, you should be so proud of yourself 👍
Busy busy! It's all go, hopefully I have enough seeds sown to fill the space! You know as well with those mounts Jimmy your not faffing with the tripod then you can just pop the camera on and off and takes up zero floor space! Thank you so much 🤗 thrilled with them now, roll on warmer weather ☀️🤞
Everything is looking good laura looking forward to see what yr growing though love seeing yr allotment and acomplishments I have missed seeing yr garden too take care
On Easter Sunday I decided to finally paint the decking as we had such a nice day and Monday was dry too. But it looks like I'll have to paint again because some paint has rubbed off already :/ The plot gets more presentable with each video, you've put a lot of effort into sorting it out. If light in the shed bothers you, maybe you could put a cool panel to diffuse the light a bit? :-)
Hey Laitae 👋 you're garden so so beautiful right now 😍 shame about the paint though, take it the weather played a roll in it not going to plan? 😣 That's a good idea, I was thinking blinds but I also want to dismantle the windows and put them on a hinge system so I can open it like a large window and to air out the shed 🔨🪟
congratulations on your upcoming first anniversary. Your plot is looking amazing. You have worked so hard, and it has paid off. Greta little bed for your beautiful dog. Happy gardening 🙂
Hey Bewoodford 👋 thank you 🥳 it's flown by! I can finally plant a few things and feel more like a gardener than a demolition operative 🤣 Roo loved her new perch and the flagstones mean I can bring out her cushion to the front and she can look over the plot while she snoozes in comfort 🥰
😂 I think Easter being a good weekend weather wise people just couldn’t help themselves. But it is definitely looking amazing Laura and what a wonderful place to spend time growing. Have a marvellous week I hope the storms are done 🙏, Ali 🥶🌦️🇨🇦
The Easter weekend was bliss wasn't it 🤩 Shame it did a 180 and started raining and blowing a gale! I am really starting to get attached to my new grow space 🤭 fingers crossed some better weather to come 🤞xx
Looking amazing. Plan for attached polytunnel sounds brilliant! I would definitely do that. Re filing cabinet, could you repurpose it as a raised bed? Holes in the bottom, lined all round inside, and use as a hooped carrot and/ or seed bed. Just a thought. Looking forward seeing to your progress. 😊
Hey Val 👋 thank you so much! Cant wait to get the supplies for the polycube/tunnel idea! I did think about turning the cabinet into a planter, I follow a girl in Australia and she used one and each draw area worked as a square foot planter!
Wow you've worked well on the plot, Laura, can't wait to see how it progresses during the year! You say you've got pale Irish skin but you haven't got a pale Irish accent lol😄so where you brought up? Looks a bit waterlogged today, good luck with all the wet stuff, whether from the leaky tap or the sky!!
Hey Sue 👋 thank you so much! I have no idea what it will look like in the peak of the season but hopefully beautiful not full of nettles and creaping butter cup! 🙈 🤣🤣 your ears do not discieve you! I was born and reared in England but both my Parents are Irish as is the rest of my extended family! When I was in school and my friend came over they always said my father had a strong irish accent, it never rubbed off on me though!! Haha leaky tap and the sky to deal with it's certainly a double whammy on the water front! 💧🌧
Hey Greta 👋 the only setting I lock is the shutterspeed to keep my shutter speed at 1/60, the rest I let bounce around, I know I should probably film in PAL but NTSC makes my footage smoother when using the gimble! It's always been a pain, I feel if I control my lighting better there will be less variables...maybe I need a curtain or a suntan 😂😂 thanks so much for your suggestion 🫶 lighting has always been an issue for me, maybe one day I'll get there 😅👻x
@@thetinygarden_ I see where you come from. I'd say explore other auto modes, shutter or aperture priority if your camera allows. If not, then as you say, a shower curtain might be helpful! But to be honest I don't think your fans mind over exposed footage much haha so wouldn't worry too much!
Hi Laura ,hope ur well ,lovely lady , U certainly looking well , U really have been busy ,and ur right ,u have put ur own stamp on things and it looking great , Wow ,so u shoulr be pleazed with the bede U have done a fantastic job on them Well done u It will all pay off ,for u I ztill havent done much outside Weather and bad .lungs stopped me with all the strong winds ,took my breath away But my grape plants are coming back good so are the strawberrye Alls i have started orange and red bell peppers Got 5 trays of them And toms again 3rd try Al my lemon plants are looking good And i have apple trees in blossen and plum tree , And planted my pumkins in doors for now Take care lovely ,
Hey Janet 🤗so lovely to hear from you! Thank you so much, it has been a busy few weeks! Hard work is paying off 💪 The weather has been awful here to, we had 29 days straight of rain! I remember you telling me about the day you bought those grape plants so happy for you that they are coming back! I love fruit tree blossom it's so beautiful, and all those seeds and plants on the go sounds like you have been busy too! Mind yourself 💖
@@thetinygarden_ hi sweet , Sounds like u haven't stopped an looking at all the lovely beds ,your work has payed off Yes I have some bits growing, I lost my first two lots of tomatoes 🍅 but the 3rd pack are doing OK Fingers crossed Yes things are coming to life , Hopefully they keep coming , I have been trying to get out in the garden ,too get my beds going ,but done nothing but rain or blow a gayle , I'm thinking of just putting another big greenhouse up Only a cover one but enough for my Tom's, strawberry ect And maybe cut down on what I grow ,its getting to much now but I'm not ready to stop altogether Keep up doing what u do best and making all the lovely vide for me At least I have them to watch and cheer me up , I will work on what I want to grow I be happy with Tom's, strawberry, peppers chillies ect Take care Laura, looking forward yo the next vid x
@janetsandham7058 it's very cold out there still! Scale it back to what is manageable and thay way you still get to do a bit of a what you love ❤️ so glad you still enjoy my videos after all this time, and that they cheer you up! Looking forward to hearing about how your peppers chilli's strawbs and toms do this season 🥰xx
@@thetinygarden_ thank u so much Yes I will do just that , I'm going to be planning what and where I want things What I want ,and the most useful , Deffinatly another greenhouse I think I did have one before ,a couple of year ago We had very high winds one week and one night really strong I got up to no greenhouse , I looked and looked Went to the back bedroom window Looked out and there it was ,2 doors away In there back garden ,good job no damage lol It was one of the bigger green houses ,plastic cover , I was so annoyed ,I'd tier it down at a few points but not enough apparently lol Any way ,try try again as they say Taken me some time To convince myself it won't happen again Hopefully, Take care sweet , I will allways be a follower & friend x
Oh my god 😳 waking up and no greenhouse!!! I am in the market for a green house! I saw a galvanised steel one, it's a bit pricey but I think it will be worth it, they install it for you as well, finally one job I won't need to do! 🤣 xx
Hey Richard 👋 they are hose lock! I bought them up from my home garden to the allotment for the third repair attempt 🙄🤣 I will check the O ring, the connections are less that 12 months old and only been through 1 frost which is a shame! One thing I didn't mention was the pressure is so strong, not like a normal tap its like a jet washer 🤣
@@thetinygarden_ if the water pressure is that high it could well be the problem if the o ring is ok the only thing to try would be expensive bras fittings and just use the hose lock ones were it won't matter if it leaks a bit
I was thinking along the same lines I am going to need to install a more robust system, my plot neighbours seem to have proper outdoor taps fixed to a wooden block or pole and plumbers piping with various hose clips and brass fittings. The water mains comes in my side and services me and the plot behind so I don't want to keep turning it off with the blue mains switch because the neighbour will have no water and need to keep walking around the site to my plot to turn it on, I imagine that would get a tad annoying after a while! 🙈
@@thetinygarden_we have suffered with every hoselock system here Laura and have had to move away from it. Being a farm, our water pressure is higher to ensure the cattle don’t run out of water in the troughs. I don’t think they cope with that pressure.
@TheFarmyardGarden that's the same for me here Clare! Literally it's the farmer near the site who gives us access to the water so I think that's why the pressure is crazy strong! 🚜👩🌾
I take most things home apart from the shovels and the mounts are screwed to the shed as a permanent fixture but my tool bag, drill, and cameras come home with me!! I forgot some of my filming equipment once, I was so relieved it was still there 🫣
Yeah good idea,if not you could see if anyone else has scrap metal and make a pile,we get them round our way nearly every day, shouting any ol' iron 😂😂
Thank you 😊 Sure no problem! I have added them to the description! I also added the mount I use to fix the camera to the wall mount, you don't need it but it makes taking it on and off sooo much easier than twisting it on to the 1/4 inch thread!
You continue to be impressive in terms of work ethics and resourcefulness. Those beds look really good, it is worth doing things properly. I hope Roo appreciates his comfort zone.
Thank you Brenda! I am so glad I spent the time making sure they were as straight as possible, it's so nice to look at them from either end of the plot! Roo is a total creature of comfort 🤣 she loves her new zone, I also pulled out her bed cushion onto the flag stones at the front of the shed for the afternoon and she was absolutely over the moon looking over the plot!
hehe that shot of the lighting on your skin you looked like casper you was luminous
Even down temporarily, those slabs looks ok
Love the plans for the plot.
🤩 absolutely fantastic changes. Hard work rewards showing and will pay off!!!
Thank you Susie! It's been some long days but so worth it, thrilled and can't wait for the weather to brighten upna bit and dry out! 😍
Hi Laura
WOW the plot is looking so good you have put in so much hard work
- i think the keaking connection should be easily fixed by replacing it with a new fitting 👍
- the patio looks great where it is 👍
- i do feel that although the shed set up is great for filming i would have been tempted to use the old potting bench cut down and reised onstead of the pallets. There just seems to be alot of wasted space in not being able to use that floor space 🤔
- i would jave definitely kept the metal cabinets as there is obviously a rodent problem on your plot 👍
- as you are getting rid of the metal cabinet and in the spirit of repurposing it I would use it as a raised bed. Take off the doors, drill plenty of holes in the back and flip it over. This would provide a good depth for root crops or perhaps a taised backing for your seating nook or a bed behind the shed 😁
- if you ate concerned about planting vegetables with long tap roots this year perhaps try short carrot 'Parisian Market' or similar 🙂
- does the site as a whole have a drainage problem? It's worth investigating before starting putting drainage pipes as ther might not be anywhere for it to drain 🤔
- if the plot has a long term drainage problem then perhaps woodchip paths might be the way to go 🤔
Can't wait to see what comes next 👍
Take Care and well done again on all your hard work 🎉🥳
Barry (the Wirral, ENG)
Hey Barry 👋 lovely to hear from you! Thank you so much and I remember you saying that! The plot is finally clear, such a good feeling and it's starting to feel like mine!
Such a shame with those hose lock attachments, they were from my home garden, less than 12 months old and only went through 1 frost. I'll check the O ring and find a replacement 🤞the pressure is really strong...almost like a jet washer it's that powerful 🤣 appreciate the continued support and all the helpful tips along the way! 🙌
@@thetinygarden_ That's the trouble with Hozelock great stuff but don't last as long as they should, good luck with that o ring/washer.
Barry x
Only found your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching your videos ever since 😂 plots are like gold dust around here so living my allotment dreams through your videos! x
Thank you Polly 🤗 they are few and far between, fingers crossed you get one soon!! 🤞🤞x
Omg! You are doing a GREAT job, everything is really coming together beautifully. I love every plan you've had so far, especially the potting shed.
Thank you Robin, it's feels like a garden more and more 🤩 lots of digging on the horizon for me 😬
Things taking shape there Laura. It looks brilliant. Well done on everything so far. Can't wait to see it bloom
Thank you Trish 🥰 really looking forward to it now!
Shed looks brilliant 👏
Love the queens corner complete with bed and toy lol
Polycube sounds brilliant 👏
Look at those beds 👏 amazing work 👏 🙌 i have a red pallet bosrd and thats my seat lol
Its lookjng brilliant and its suprising how quickly thungs turn around.
The slabs as well will help not have a muddy entrance into the shed as its suprising how quicky things get boggy even if a temp measure.
Look fwd to the give away and just so you know if we dont get a live soon im starting a petition 😂😂😂😂
I should get her a sign Tracey...Queens Corner or Roo's Gaff 🤣🤣
Starting to feel at home now down at the plot with all the little touches! The flagstones at the front were so handy I went flying in there the other day because of how mucky it was, almost like I had roller skates on! 🛼
Hehe 🙈 I will do another live maybe first week in May when uni finishes up for the the holidays 🤭🫣
First year is the most expensive but it’s an investment for the future, get your compost bins sorted as quick as possible and then you won’t have many ongoing expenses really, as hobbies go, this is a cheaper one..
Looking at how muddy your plot i would agree on the drain, was just going to suggest it but you said it as I was typing (note to self watch all trh video before commenting 😆)
Looking good so far ✌️
It’s looking really ready for a good growing season. Your hard work is paying off.
Hey Michelle so lovely to hear from you! I hope so, I have so many plants I don't have any room left to sow new ones so it's time they move out! 🤭
Everything looks so nice and you have worked so hard on this area. Anxious to see your plants grow in their new beds.
It has been some long days but so worth it Rebecca! I am too, I hope I have enough plants to fill the space! I feel a marathon seed sow coming up! 🙈
@@thetinygarden_ aww yes, I would love to be able to afford sleepers...okay for one small bed but not for trying to be self sufficient.
@@thetinygarden_ I think the boards are those used for the base of fencing....fencing boards? Base boards?
Yay! So lovely to see an allotment update 🥰 You've done so much & your space looks sooo goood!! 🥲 Can't wait to see what you grow & how it'll look come summer! I bet it's going to be gorgeous 😍🌸🌻🌱
Are you able to drain the water of the allotment to a wildlife pond by the entrance to plot, maybe.
You have done so well. I love your raised beds. Another great video x
Plots looking great in such a short time ❤
Thank you so much 🥰💖
Hi Laura, the beds look amazing, we'll done 🤛 you sure have been busy and it truly shows with the changes to your lot.
It’s looking really great. You’ve done a great job with it all. Good progress. You definitely should be proud of what you’ve achieved.
Thank you so much! Worth all the hard work! 🙌😊
Wow, you’re making such good progress with the plot - putting in a lot of work there! 😊
Thank you Dora, still a bit to go but happy so far!! 🙈🥰
You could flip the filing cabinet on it's back and use it as a raised planter box and discard or reuse the drawers somewhere else.
Hey Amanda 👋 such a good idea I saw someone do that before! Food for thought thank you!!
@@thetinygarden_ You’re welcome!
Great video your plots looking amazing I can’t believe the transformation 👍xxx
Thank you so much Lorraine!😊 I can't wait now a few more weekends working away there and I will look different again! 🤗xxx
Wow your plot looks fantastic love your raised beds and the inside of your shed looks great especially your fur babies area. Take care Louise X
Hey Louise 👋 thank you so much so pleased you like it too!! Roo loves her new bed, we both fit on there for a snuggle 🤗🥰x
Thank you so much! Thrilled with the overall layout, there is so much more room! Sheds can be a bit echo-y!! 😆
If you cut out the section of wall, don't forget to screw in a 3x2 inch top frame for stability and strength.
I never would have thought of that Jean 🫣 thank youu!! 🥰
Wow,your shed looks amazing now Laura.
Thanks so much Lynn, it finally feels like it has my little touch on it now, I just need to add a few bits to kit it out over time! 😊
lovely changes to the allotment Laura. i love how the beds look. get cardboard from grocery shops
Hey Stella I have raided tescos of all the cardboard recently 🤭 I am going to move onto the big stores that sell bikes and electrical goods, apparently they have loads of big boxes! So pleased with the beds 😍
@@thetinygarden_ yes they do also try petroleum station shops - it’s amazing how much cardboard you can go through whilst making up no dig beds.
Wow !! Amazing progress ! So impressed with those beds and all the hardwork you've put in 🥇Its going to be a lovely plot due to your hardwork .Happy first anniversary 🎉
Thank you so much Susie! 🥳 thrilled with the beds so lovely to hear you like them too!! ❤️Looking forward to the season and how things shape up!

Thank you Tina for all your lovely comments and support 🥰❤️ Dream big and I will fall somewhere near the plan 🤣xx
On Easter Sunday I decided to finally paint the decking as we had such a nice day and Monday was dry too. But it looks like I'll have to paint again because some paint has rubbed off already :/
The plot gets more presentable with each video, you've put a lot of effort into sorting it out.
Love the update, you’ve achieved so much in a short space of time. Congrats on all your hard work.
Thank you Kaz, so nice to see it take shape and look a bit neater 😅!
congratulations on your upcoming first anniversary.

Hey Mags 🤗 thank you, it's been a few long days to get it to this stage but I am thrilled! So pleased you Like it too 🥰
Looking amazing.

Set your camera on Auto ISO and it should do the trick with the over exposure!

Hey Janet 🤗so lovely to hear from you! Thank you so much, it has been a busy few weeks! Hard work is paying off 💪
The weather has been awful here to, we had 29 days straight of rain! I remember you telling me about the day you bought those grape plants so happy for you that they are coming back! I love fruit tree blossom it's so beautiful, and all those seeds and plants on the go sounds like you have been busy too! Mind yourself 💖

Looking forward to hearing about how your peppers chilli's strawbs and toms do this season 🥰xx
@@thetinygarden_ thank u so much
Yes I will do just that ,
I'm going to be planning what and where I want things
What I want ,and the most useful ,
Deffinatly another greenhouse I think
I did have one before ,a couple of year ago
We had very high winds one week and one night really strong
I got up to no greenhouse ,
I looked and looked
Went to the back bedroom window
Looked out and there it was ,2 doors away
In there back garden ,good job no damage lol
It was one of the bigger green houses ,plastic cover ,
I was so annoyed ,I'd tier it down at a few points but not enough apparently lol
Any way ,try try again as they say
Taken me some time
To convince myself it won't happen again
Hopefully,
Take care sweet ,
I will allways be a follower & friend x
Oh my god 😳 waking up and no greenhouse!!! I am in the market for a green house! I saw a galvanised steel one, it's a bit pricey but I think it will be worth it, they install it for you as well, finally one job I won't need to do! 🤣 xx
Hey lovely ☺️. Can you ring a scrap metal man to come get that filing cabinet??
Hey hey! Oh I didnt think of that!!
@@thetinygarden_ our site has an area where we can put scrap metal and the guy comes every so often to take it all away 😀
The hose connector looks to be a hose lock one have you tried replacing the rubber o ring in it they can get hard and brittle over time then leak
I’d love to see how how make your videos please x
I want sure if anyone was interested in the mounts seems people were! Maybe one day I could shoot a behind the scenes 😊x
Laura dont forget to take anything valuable home with you..?..lots of allotment brake in going on at the moment 🤔
I take most things home apart from the shovels and the mounts are screwed to the shed as a permanent fixture but my tool bag, drill, and cameras come home with me!! I forgot some of my filming equipment once, I was so relieved it was still there 🫣
👍👍👍
🙌🙌🙌
Don't you have a local scrap man you could call to take filing cabinet away 😊
That thought never crossed my mind 🤣 I'll see does anyone on the site want it first and go from there!
Yeah good idea,if not you could see if anyone else has scrap metal and make a pile,we get them round our way nearly every day, shouting any ol' iron 😂😂
Its all looking great and youve made such progress. Can you link the camera mounts please?
Thank you 😊 Sure no problem! I have added them to the description! I also added the mount I use to fix the camera to the wall mount, you don't need it but it makes taking it on and off sooo much easier than twisting it on to the 1/4 inch thread!
@@thetinygarden_ thanks so much, I am just renovating and extending my shed so will take a look at the mounts 😊
You are so relatable and funny!
🤭🤭 thank you Katy!! That is so lovely of you to say!
Cây 🌱 giống của bạn ươm thật tốt 👍.
Thank you!! Can't wait to watch them grow!
