- UBOAT has announced some significant updates that are in the works and will be released hopefully by years end or early next year. These updates will completely change UBOAT for the better. New and revised missions, new ports, new U-boats to command, new voice actors. The developers of the game have listened to their audience and are letting it be known through the upcoming updates. Can't wait!!!
UBOAT is a WW2 submarine simulator game where you are a captain of a UBOAT. As the captain it will be up to you to ensure that you have all the necessary supplies for your UBOAT and be able to manage your crew. You will be faced with very tough challenges and even tougher decisions that you will have to make on the fly.
The UBOAT campaign takes place between 1939 - 1945 and will see you patrolling all over the Atlantic in hunt for lone ships and large convoys. After spotting your target you will have the challenge on manually imputing all the proper information before finally firing your torpedo and watching as you send thousands of tons worth of shipping to the bottom of the ocean. Did I mention that should you not want to use a torpedo to sink a ship, you have the mighty 88 mm deck gun!
Accept mission and be rewarded through a leveling system in game that allows you to upgrade your officers and give them special abilities that will help you in your future campaigns. Completing missions will also reward you with currency that you can use to upgrade your UBOAT and make it even more difficult for the enemy to discover you and better yet...sink you.
Buy equipment for you crew, gather information to acquire new specialized torpedo's, and send your officers on missions to discover new and special tasks through the world map.
This is your boat and you get to command it however you like. Happy hunting!

I love this game, but I'm begging the devs to make the "center periscope" button put the thing to 000 on the horizon instead of just orienting it to bearing 000 with whatever elevation the AI was looking. AI crewmembers are always using the periscope to stare deep into the water or admire the sun. I can almost complete a full torpedo firing solution in the time I waste just orienting the periscope.
I believe there's 2 keybinds to center the periscope- one for each axis. Mine are set to C+V.

Wanted to add to my earlier commet. There are so many great missions to be made available if the devs pursue the development of a pacicfic war theater for this game. Great missions like delivering German Military technology via uboat to the Japanese. Great missions like the sinking of the Indianapolis "Before" not after they deliver the bomb that ended the war... As being fleet support or forward scout for the surprise attack on peal harbor. Or the lesser known .. Prventing the attack on Truk island which was considered the pearl harbor of the japanese. DEVS should highly consider these as DLC for continued Revenue going forward

Cant wait for the full release. I do hope they make the Type IX before the XXI though, you can go across the pit, which introduces a new "playground", Happy Times 2, and enjoy advantage over the Type VII of greater torpedo load and range too, though larger, less maneuverable and all that.
i'm with you on the type IX and XX! ... heck if they make it DLC I wouldn't even mind.
The xxi never saw action though. That would break immersion to me.

@@skooistra1766 2 to 3 what? From what I know the only thing they did is evacuate Nazis VIP the last days of the war but they didn't launch a single torpedo against the alliés.

I’d like to see some tweaking to the convoy damage, like flaming oil on the surface on occasion when a tanker is hit just right, and an occasional munitions ship nestled in the center of a larger convoy that has a chance of going up in a huge fireball
Oh this would be really awesome and really add to the immersion
Someone might have already said this, but I think it would be cool to start off as a sailor like a torpedo man and climb the ranks to a captain.
Yeah this would be epic. Really learn everything about the boat and finally taking command

type 2 has a 2cm aa :) with at ammo you can pen tankers and freighters. did this already in early access =)
Just bought this game last week and clocked 60+hrs already. To say I'm excited I bought this game at such a critical moment in its development is a major understatement.
The greatest SP game I've played in a looooong, long time. Co-op would be an amazing feature, either in a Wolfpack with others or a sub crew where everyone plays their part. However, the game will remain great if it stays the same.
EDIT: One thing I thought while playing the other day was it would be neat if there was a dynamic world, with a "Kriegsmarine leaderboard" of sorts, where you see the other u-boats GRT that they've sunk. Maybe some "articles" of propaganda by Mr. Goebbels congratulating the aces of the succesful crews upon their return. It would be minor aesthetic tweaks but I think it would make the world feel more alive.

One of my alltime fav game. I know this suggestion could be a couple years out but how great would it be to have the option of sailing the pacific war theater with the Japanese. Given they were allies with the germans. Not 100% sure of this but wasnt there a mission that the german delivered technology to the japanese using a Uboat? I know they shared their uboat technology so yeah, I can see this game having the option of sailing Japanese subs at some point in the future. Opening the door to So many great missions. Even if it is DL content that cost. Continued revenue for the Devs!
Please drop a few links to forms, i have got an idea. ( Not sure if they are already implementing it, but any crew would die without drinking water! To add to realism the boat should have drink water tanks! Lots of missions would be limited by food or water instead of fuel
Super excited for the full release. With the full release Uboat Expanded is planned to be in a final stage too. Looking forward to having long patrols like I can in SH3. One thing I wish they would add is visual damage on the Uboat and weathering on the Uboat. For example, surface rust, frozen ice, torn up conning towers, broken deck guns, blown off flak guns etc.
That might be a thing. They did mention they want to add more details to ships being struck by torps and the way the water crashes against the uboat. Very possibly that they might had also added this other things you mentioned and maybe just didn't tell us. Love your idea though!
I'd like to see a Type XX1. How about a late war final mission to South America with "VIP's" (Adolf and Eva)?

Nice update to the full release. Should the devs include watchmen then I hope you can get them off and lower the observation periscope should a snoopy sailor get on it. As is, its a hassle when a sailor gets on the periscope and gives away your position...(even using crew management and not allowing them to do so)...and you cannot get him off.
Yeah that can be a bit annoying. I really do hope there is a more in depth crew management system. Similar the the SH games.

Yeah we have subsim to thank for keeping most submarine sims alive, I've actually thanked Neal on Discord when playing Wolfpack with him and many others there.
It's a great community.
A mission that would be cool was to rescue downed pilots that has been able to swim to those habitable bouys that was out there.

they should add a dynamic campaign where you arent limited to sinking merchant shipping, but rather the more escorts you sink, the bigger the impact is for having less heavily defended convoys appear to attack. sort of the holy grail of convoys to attack right now is one that has no escorts but has several liberty and c3 ships with some empire class vessels mixed in. i find these fun to attack because i can sink the whole convoy without having to worry about depth charge attacks. i'd also like to see better map controls for attacking in low visibility conditions, as well as tdc controls that dont require me to still input the info into the default torpedo controls. i had to quit using the tdc mod because it seemed pointless to me to use the tdc when i still had to enter the data into the default controls to be able to fire.
Dynamic campaign map would be awesome! I didn't know you had to still manually input the solutions into the default controls. That is a waste of time and double the work. I never used the TDC mod, but looking forward to how they integrate it into the full release
@@crazedjester another thing they should add for ships is destructible weapons emplacements. If you hit the stern gun emplacement on a liberty ship with your deck gun, it should kill the crew on it and render the gun inoperable instead of it being able to continue throwing shells at you after you’ve pumped six of your own into it. They aren’t armored emplacements so there’s no real reason for them to not be destructible. To balance the difficulty you could code in a chance of deflecting the shell if it hits the shrapnel tub at an angle

Whats so complicated about alt map mode? Right now if you zoom in on the map you see a drone like view of your sub. Not very sim like. In alt map mode you still see the world and can navigate like you would with a paper map, but you dont have a DJI Mavic flying above your boat giving you a live feed. A few mods addressed it by removing the drone view but then you couldnt see ports. This addresses that.

AS much as I like "DasBoot" and SH3 and all ... and U-Boat game .. i am kinda done wiht German setting already ... give me U-Boat looking USA submarine game in early COLD WAR era.

I Have mentioned this before but merchant ships that are baiting boarding crews .Think about it merchant ships with a deck gun and or armed crew making boarding and surface attacks risky.

The new map mode disables the "satellite" view, where you can see everything from up top. Instead it's just drawn like the map in silent hunter 3 for example.

I thought that the devs were working with the modder who created the TDC mod. Is there no news that this has been included in the update?

You're absolutely right. That is a mistake on my end. March April deadline. Well lets hope for a May and or June release haha

I loved SH3, SH4 and 5 was meh.......to the point I literally played 5 for an 1hr or so before giving up..........will keep an eye on this.

Who says the C/30 isn't enough to sink a ship? So many times I've been out of torpedoes and low on deck gun ammo and just wrecked a small merchantman with the flak gun.

@@crazedjester except for the tinny sound effect of the firing and lack of any vibration or feedback from the mount. Rate of fire is wrong too.

Not as of yet, but that might possibly change at full release

I dont think they did now that you mention it. I know the SH series had an extensive chain of command list which I liked
@@crazedjesterWith the Expanded Crew Mod you could have almost the correct number of crew, but the bunking is messed up because there are no Petty Officers.
SH3 had the best crew management I think.
The physics of the boat still look unrealistic. If they fix this, I will buy and play it.

I enjoyed quite a few hours with the game but I won't come back for awhile it just lacks depth (pun intended).

@@crazedjester UBoat. So I don't currently play sub games. I just feel like once you've made the progression a bit and learned how to land torps / evade, it's a bit hollow. For me it would need a dynamic war or some sort of RPG layer or strategy layer that could vary game to game to keep me interested.

Yeah the ability to play with others would have been awesome
I think time compression would be the biggest issue with multiple subs having their own respective schedule. I can't imagine only playing on 1x speed as it'll take forever to travel anywhere and probably reserved only for dedicated full-time realism players who don't have a day job or streamers.
Maybe multiplayer on a single submarine might work with each player taking on the role of an officer. However, the developer would have to expand the crew's task/complexity beyond the current scope, or else it'll get really boring quickly.
