What I love about this generation's audience is that they don't wait until the end of the note to burst into applause. They're so aware of the tour de force that's about to happen that they can't hold back their enthusiasm a few seconds longer. It makes feel a kind of absolute communion between singer and audience that no longer exists at all today. (The only modern example I've heard of this was at the end of Smetana's "Libuse", with Gabriela Benackova, in 1983 for the reopening gala of the Prague Opera. The orchestra concludes at the same time as the applause. But in this case it's also due to the patriotic sense of the lyrics that lifts the Czech public).

Not only are the high notes amazing, but also the exquisite embellishments with no aspiration make you smile, experiencing the excellence and beauty!

King of the High B's.....
A great artist. He delivers the goods in beautiful style. Surely this is what Verdi had in mind.
Bergonzi was always wonderful. Definitely an underrated Manrico as well.
As always, Bergonzi is a class act. One of my favorite tenors by far.
The professor, always a guarantee of good singing, here also makes fantastic high notes
¡Qué generación de cantantes, aquélla!
It's a B natural. Still, great.
Grandissimi artisti!
Grazie Theo❤Bergonzi un artista poco appariscente, ma bravissimo lo stesso
That's not a C. It's a B, but still excellent.
Куда делось поколение этих певцов
That's a high B at the end not a C
not true
@@thomasstumpf8756 It is. I just check with the piano.
100 percent correct doesn’t even sound high but still a very good B

That doesn’t sound like Bergonzi to me, and I love Bergonzi. The voice sounds bigger and darker here.
