Chris Robinson always gave a me an old school rock front man vibe. Throwback to the days of Jagger and Robert Plant. Even down to the style of clothes they wear.
Great band - could have been from any era. Sometimes Salvation is a powerful song about addiction. They also did a tour with Jimmy Page playing Led Zeppelin songs, that should tell you all you need about their cred.
A fun rabbit hole to go down. "Jealous Again" is probably their most known "rock" song. "Hard to Handle" is a remake of a classic that they just took to another level. "She Talks to Angels" is their biggest and maybe most well-known ballad, and "Twice As Hard" was on the charts as well. But they have a ton of other songs as well, including my favorite "Good Friday". Also, Chris Robinson was married to the famous actress Kate Hudson for six years (Hudson is the daughter of Goldie Hawn and step-daughter of Kurt Russell).
I saw them live three times during the 90s and they were amazing. Awesome energy on stage and Chris' presence and voice live is fantastic. A real rock n roll band for sure!!! They have many singles you'll like if you enjoyed this song. Also some really cool slower songs. His voice is beautiful and you get a bit more of his range in a song like 'Seeing Things'. 'Hard to Handle' (which is a cover but a very welld one one' is really fun too. Their second album is probably the most acclaimed and any song from there is wonderful, even if it didn't come out as a single. A favorite of mine from this album is 'Black Moon Creeping'. 'Kickin' My Heart Around' from one of their later albums is a very good rocking single too. Anyway, see what teh other viewers say and try some more of their soul-fuelled blues rock, you won't be disappointed.
Definitely do a deeper dive into the Black Crowes- tons of great Blues Rock songs. In addition to their hits, be sure to check out Amorica, especially Descending and Conspiracy, two of their finest.
This is actually one of my all time favorite rock songs...it's just so amazing. They've got a bunch of other songs, Hard to Handle, Jealous Again, Twice as Hard & She Talks to Agels (ballad).
It's so COOL to see you 'discover' music! Your excitement and appreciation is Awesome!! Always love the free spirit of Jam Bands. And you are right, they are just loving making music! It's his passion that brings you in!
On March 17, 2023, the band released a double live album on CD and Vinyl called Shake Your Money Maker Live, a live album with the first disc being their first album played in its entirety in concert and a second disk consisting of live Black Crowe's classics and a cover of the Rolling Stones', 'It's Only Rock n Roll.'
So happy you love it! This is a fantastic album, it is my favorite by this band and please do Thorn in my pride next. The organ at the beginning, oh my god! I rewind it many times and listen to it before I let the whole song play through, I absolutely love it. And Rich and Chris Robinson her brothers. In this video the singer is Chris and the guitarist is Rich with the red suit.
Love Black Crowes ❤ love the way Chris just lets go with his moves. For me Talks to Angels is my most cherished BC song it holds a very special meaning mostly sad but love it❤
Saw them (plenty high) with Arlo Guthrie and Mickey Hart's Planet Drum. One of the Black Crowes backup singers sang "White Rabblt" and SLAUGHTERED the crowd.
Three other great songs from This album in particular, Thorn in my Pride, Sometimes Salvation(he must’ve lost his voice on this one), and Bad Luck Blue Eyes.
They did (do) some of the best blues/southern rock heartbreak songs in the world. (She Talks To Angels, Seeing Things, Sister Luck) Shake Your Moneymaker is an essential album in any rock fan's collection. And Chris Robinson is a hoot, quite a character to this day!
oMG!!!!!!!!!!! I love this band! Back in the very early 90s I heard their first single "Hard to Handle" I am a sucker for blues and this band was the best thing I heard in awhile. Got their CD and wow. She Talks To Angels is an amazing song. Anyway, I was so excited and told some friends and family about them and they never heard of them and did not care. Eventually they were breaking through but, I felt being an early fan that I just discovered something special and was one of the first around my town to turn on to them. They are simply amazing. You must do more Black Crowes. Also, I saw a bunch of your Led Zeppelin videos when you were discovering them. I think you did one of Since I've Been Loving You. Well, I just found out they did a version of it on Celebration Day 2007 and you MUST check it out. You want something to send you to space? With Page and Plant being older and having lived life and feeling pain in it they do this song like seasoned bluesmen. This will have you pounding the desk Plant and page sound so amazing and this is something that is pure gold. If anything check it out just for yourself or do a reaction. But, just listen to it!
Great choice. Black Crowes were a pure rock band, as you say. one of the best of the 80s/90s. Rock was enjoying a little renaissance at this time. Didn't last sadly, but what we had was so good. Looks like the band's lawyer is on the drums, lol. The knock on these guys at the time was that they were too imitative of the Rolling Stones, but my response, at least, to that was: "So?" Worse things a band can sound like!
You should check out Humble Pie. They were around 20 years earlier. The singer, Steve Marriott, who tragically died in a fire, was the blueprint for vocalists like Chris Robinson. Try 30 Days in the Hole. Earlier Humble Pie featured Peter Frampton. Humble Pie Live at the Fillmore is one of the greatest live albums ever recorded. I’m Ready, is maybe the greatest start to a live rock album…ever!
His voice is awesome and his physicality is off the chain. Let me put it in terms pretty much everyone can relate to. My first high school dance was to Sweet Home Alabama, Skynyrd. Try to imagine trying to dance to that. I was like 14 ? Can you imagine, if you're a girl , trying to keep up with him, or putting that much effort in and looking at your date ? Lol... He's smoking with charisma. Think you might be surprised at how good his voice is. Not suggesting you don't appreciate what you just saw, but I can rattle off a few Zeppelin, or Floyd , songs I don't particularly care for, and I saw them both in 73 in Tampa. I loved the Black Crows back then and I love em still.
Inre Chris's voice, your opinion: Perfectly stated, G!! 😅😅 If you get it, you get it. 😉 PS. I ❤️❤️❤️ your reactions! PPS. "THORN IN MY PRIDE". You're very welcome. 🤗
It was very sharp and daring, in my opinion it’s a mystery why The Black Crowes achieved the same success that rock monsters such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and others achieved; they clearly should be in the top 10 best rock bands of our time.
Bruh, they’re great but those first two albums are especially 🔥🔥🔥🔥. Amorica (3rd album) is also stellar but some ppl lost their minds about the cover. They are STILL sounding phenomenal.
They’ve got some good stuff - I believe they even released an album with Jimmy Page, some Zeppelin covers maybe? I just remember the lead guy getting in trouble a couple times being a real asshole. He had a hissy fit once over being able to buy alcohol on a Sunday or something (which wasn’t allowed in some places) and I think there was an episode on a plane too. Both cases of him thinking he was above the law and “don’t you know who I am?!” syndrome.
The Black Crowes were a great band and had a good run. But, I think they could have been huge, but kept having issues of in-fighting within the band (mainly between Chris Robinson, the vocalist, and his brother, Rich, who’s relationship was VERY volatile) and they kept shooting themselves in the foot. Jimmy Page loved them, and after his project with Robert Plant wound down in 1999, Jimmy toured with the Crowes. He appreciated the blues rock feel of the band and Chris’ vocals. The setlist was a mix of Crowes and Zeppelin songs, and Chris did a pretty fine job of covering Plant’s vocals. The collab was cut short when Jimmy suffered a back injury and had to back out of the tour. He later offered to write some songs with The Crowes, but Rich turned him down, saying they had enough songs already. Yeah, like I said…shooting themselves in the foot. Steve Gorman, the drummer, has interviews on UA-cam talking about the brothers’ toxic relationship, and how he wanted to kill Rich for dissing Jimmy the way he did.
These guys were fantastic. Their kiss of death? Some idiot critic called them the "new Rolling Stones". Like when The Knack got labelled as the next Beatles. No way a band is living up to those expectations, and honestly it's not fair for any group to be compared to those legends.
So it's to me like Mick Jagger's or Bob Dylan's voice, or a number of others. They're not especially great quality but very effective regardless. They're also great showmen, great songwriters, etc. so there's more than just voice quality.
Back when they first came out, I didn't appreciate them much. Back then I thought they tried too hard to be kind of like the Stones or something. I liked their songs, but I didn't really get into them. Hearing them now that I'm older, I enjoy and appreciate them more. It happens.
The Band The Black Crowes are the 90's version of The Rolling Stones.....the Frontman moves and expresses himself like Mick Jagger....even though no one on Earth is like Mick Jagger or will ever be like Nick Jagger....but yeah the band is in influenced by The Rolling Stones!!!!
Does anybody else see the obvious (to me anyway) influence of Mick Jagger on lead singer Chris Robinson? Mick doesn’t have a superb voice either, but it’s perfect for The Stones…ditto for Chris.
They’ve got an awesome sound. “Hard to Handle” and “She Talks to Angels” are probably their other biggest hits and are definitely worth checking out.
I really dig the Black Crowes my favorite is Jealous Again
I saw them this summer, 2023, and they can still rock with the best of them. I’m an 80’s girl and grew up with great music!
Such a totally underrated band!
"she talks to angels" is an amazing song with a beautiful acoustic guitar part. If you want to rock out then do their 1st big hit... "Hard to Handle".
Hard to handle is their worst song by far, sting me may be the best. And whatever your argument is ,your wrong.
You like Chris because he is being 100% Free and Authentic and is giving Zero F's which = Rock'n Roll :-D
Thanks for another great reaction video! I love The Black Crowes! Their music is so amazing :)
Bad Luck Blue Eyes and Sister Luck are 2 of my absolute favorites.
Chris Robinson always gave a me an old school rock front man vibe. Throwback to the days of Jagger and Robert Plant. Even down to the style of clothes they wear.
Their first three albums are nothing but great songs. Everything on them is amazing.
“She Talks To Angels” is in my top 10 list of songs in my 62 year long life. 🥰
She Talks to Angels is a masterpiece
Great band - could have been from any era. Sometimes Salvation is a powerful song about addiction. They also did a tour with Jimmy Page playing Led Zeppelin songs, that should tell you all you need about their cred.
Crowes and Page live at the Greek grat album;ua-cam.com/video/bcaEE-aIxlQ/v-deo.html
It's all about his performance
i love the black crows please do hard to handle by them
He always reminded me of a mix of Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler, and Jim Morrison from the doors all rolled into one body
Agreed. Similar to Ian Astbury as well.
I believe the two lady backup singers are from "The Staple Singers"
This is a Song which after you heard it, you wanna hear it again..and again..and again... It`s a feel-good-song.. Soul+Rock in a perfect Mix !!
Can't go wrong with the Black Crowes! Love em!
✌❤

Their tiny desk concert was amazing worth checking in
You’re gonna love some Black Crowes on the journey. Chris has some singing chops you’ll hear in other songs.
It's pure soul through and through which makes this band so unique for the era.
Seen them live in 1992 at the Fox Theater in Detroit. Great show. One of the best concerts I've ever had the pleasure of being at.
This album is in my top 5 albums of all time.
The Black Crowes are playing with Aerosmith at the Boston Garden on NYE this year. This is for Aerosmith's Farewell Tour.

About his voice, he has soul.
The Crowes are a never-miss for me. Absolutely check out "She Talks To Angels" for a totally different vibe from them.

Great reaction and I felt the same way when I first heard this song. It’s a perfect mix of everything rock ‘n roll!

Danced at the Palms this year like I did the first time I saw them in 1996 !!!
Loved this guys from day one, here is some of my favorites
Sometimes Salvation
Evil Eye
Gone
Tornado
Give this a listen and enjoy!!
These guys are great. They have a bunch of songs equally as good to this.
Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin toured with the Black Crowes 🐦⬛
Kind of reminds me of Rod Stewart in his early days
Three other great songs from This album in particular, Thorn in my Pride, Sometimes Salvation(he must’ve lost his voice on this one), and Bad Luck Blue Eyes.

They are a very 70s type band. Just rock and roll.
oMG!!!!!!!!!!! I love this band!

If anything check it out just for yourself or do a reaction. But, just listen to it!
Also, did you know that Chris the lead singer of Black Crowes was married to Kate Hudson?
Doesnt get any better than their first 4 album's especially 2,3 and 4 my favorite band of all time

🙌💯 My sentiments exactly!!
First time I saw them live, was with Jimmy Page and they played alot of Zeppelin. And Chris was perfect on vocals
Saw them when they opened for Robert Plant on his Manic Nirvana tour. Speaking of which - Robert Plant "Hurting Kind" is a banger.
Tip of the iceberg man.......These guys are exceptional......
Best song....."Hard to Handle"... will knock you socks off!
No way is that their best song
@@harrytrent13 So I am not entitled to an opinion?
@RobinT-treehugger you are and my opinion is that it's nowhere near their best for me people say it is because it's one of their biggest hits
You should check out Humble Pie. They were around 20 years earlier. The singer, Steve Marriott, who tragically died in a fire, was the blueprint for vocalists like Chris Robinson. They rock
One of those songs I ended up listening to 18 times in a row every time.
The whole record is great

Peak Crowes. They borrowed a lot of styles but that’s a perfect distillation of their homages.
I love The Black Crowes! Check out She Talks to Angels & Seeing Things for a different side of them. 🔥
Seeing Things is such an amazing tune!
Rocks from note one.
Chris Robinson was Kate Hudson's first husband
Inre Chris's voice, your opinion:
Perfectly stated, G!! 😅😅
If you get it, you get it. 😉

PPS. "THORN IN MY PRIDE". You're very welcome. 🤗
Check out Jealous again. 100% rock'n roll

Thats how you move :-)
Do some more Crowes! 😃
If you think "Remedy" left you "dumbfounded" try any song off of Shake Your Moneymaker. The entire album rocks.
Have to check out cursed diamond or my morning song by them
They are great when they aren't fucked up on drugs and alcohol
They’ve got some good stuff - I believe they even released an album with Jimmy Page, some Zeppelin covers maybe? I just remember the lead guy getting in trouble a couple times being a real asshole. if mick jagger and stephen tyler had a love child it would be chris robinson

Try hard rock live show, they do Hard to Handle into a cover a Deep Purple song HUSH. Total jam
That guy wants to be Mick Jagger so bad it hurts.

listen to soul singing
