Never, ever use a sponge on plastic. It gets scratches and dirt goes there at once and it gets difficult to clean for ever after. It gets actually ruined by sponges. The same goes for glass and porcelain, but especially for plastic. The best is to use a brush with natural bristle. It cleans all the corners and it don't splash the water around and it cleans so well. When you get used to it, you will see how good it is.
