How about pumping some electricity through an egg slicer? The wires will stay red hot due to the electricity keeping the wire at a constantly high temperature (although it might cost a little more for an egg slicer with a body that won't conduct the electricity/melt from the heat)

A_Pufferfish how so? hot wire cutters work in this manor, you can easily heat a wire to red hot temperatures, I've worked with pieces of kit in my trade that work due to the principle that pushing high current through a small surface area such as a wire will produce heat due to resistance.

ginjatom an egg slicer isn't wire cutters, the wires would also be constantly cooling down due to them being so small, and he even shows they break if too much heat is put in, if we get thicker wires though, that could work.

A_Pufferfish obviously the wires snap eventually due to them becoming brittle, however you're wrong about them constantly cooling, cooling down is a result of loss of energy, giving them constant energy will keep them hot, an example is the old halogen light bulbs - they produce light and heat due to a high current being put through a small surface area, the bulbs will cool down after being turned off due to loss of energy but when on, they remain hot due to the fact the energy is being replaced as the heat is being lost
