5 common mistakes. 1. You can start anywhere not just at zero. 2. You cannot back up if you went much past your target number. GenerLly speaking if the comb was properly set you should have at least a 1/2 number plus or minus tolerance on all the comb numbers. 3. Spinning the dial fast and whipping back and forth are by far the leading causes of problems with dial comb locks. 4. When the bolt work is retracted (unlocked) the dial will not turn except for a few numbers. 5. Never force the dial to lock it. Something is likely binding preventing it from locking. Unless you want the safe drilled open. And 6. On many combination locks there is a so called forbidden zone. It encompasses where the unlocking /locking action happens. Do not put the last number of your comb in this location. A couple different problems can occur. Usually the zone is 20 numbers long. In this case with a dial stopping at 85 it would likely be the span of 90 up through to 10.
HI , i have a old Sargent & Greenleaf big safety box , with Door Opened , so i have access to the inside of the door ,,,, but i have not the code and have not the key , but i can Open the rear and heve access to the mechanical part ... HOW to reset a new code ??? thanks .
