8 years later and I am still coming back to hear this beautiful rendition of this song. I don’t understand how this woman is not a major recording artist.

comes on stage to remind every one with true talent is and how it should touch your soul/ talent like this changes people and makes the world just a little bit better/Thank You Sally Barker for making the world a little better with this performance/
Its 2023 and I still keep coming back to this version and Sally's performance of Walk on By....it gives me goosebumps..such a talent.

Exactly. If you really listen to the lyrics, she brought to it a feeling that the uptempo versions do not, sadness, heartbreak and loss. It's breathtaking.

@@shoelover4007 Amen to that. Just listened to it again and wished the song could just go on and on. How she did not become winner of the Voice UK that season I'll never understand. She combines that lovely haunting voice with such emotion and nuance. She's one of the best performers I've ever heard. I just can't get enough of hearing her sing!
This lady is just incredible. I'm a 27 year old guy and this just made me cry so much, I wasn't expecting that.

This woman should never had been a background singer. What the world missed all these years is tragic. She is utterly amazing.
She's never been a background singer.She supported Bob Dylan and Robert Plant,wayyyy back.She'd been gigging for years and had albums out long before this show.She's been on the UK Folk circuit as a solo artist for years.
Your not kidding , She need to find a good writer and she's a star and a household name .Her voice is that good
It's just a shame how things turned out. She and her husband start a family, but then he passes away from cancer. I'm sure she has no regrets about focusing on her children, but she was pulled away from her performing in the prime of her life. She could have broken out into fame, but instead had to wait until the fall of her life.

Sally took this song and transformed it into what it always should have been. Previous renditions I'd heard had an upbeat tempo that took away from the message. Sally forced me to not only listen to the lyrics, but feel them as well. She is just so, so good.

Her voice is beautiful. It's so...haunting, yet, lovely. Her voice captivates the audience. She doesn't dance, she doesn't have an instrument, and yet, her voice alone can capture all of the audience's attention. Even the audience at home.

Of all the performances on The Voice UK, this one stands out a country mile.
I just happened on this lady, OMG nobody sing like this anymore. What a voice!
My favourite by far in this year's competition. Every note hit. Power and restraint exactly when needed. Tone and range absolutely spot on. She sells the emotion of the song better than anyone else.
She did the thing okay with such a sweet voice. Bravo
She has the class and aura of a diva of foregone eras, such wisdom and fragility in her voice. She deserves to be succesful

It's quite a joy when listening to coaches' comments on Sally's performances. Their use of adjectives completely changed.
We had the wonderful chance to meet her on a folk music holiday a few weeks back where she played to 40 people - 40 very stunned and amazed people, and personally she was so lovely and chatty- Can't wait to meet her again - she even said she would like to play in our little record shop in Birmingham, how warm hearted is that. Just knockout

In 2020, Sally Barker remains for me the greatest singer they have ever had on the show. This raw heart felt performance in particular should serve as a standard, and required listening for young professional musicians.

I'm in Mexico, I was at work, then I heard Sally I let my co-workers to listen and there was a complete silence, a minute full of emotion for everybody, better than this performance impossible!. She must win..
Every time I watch this, the tears start to flow! She sings as if she's telling us the history of her life.
+jan flig Without realizing it Jan you just explained as to why soul singers have great voices . It's because they're singing about their troubled past. Yes? I'm not ashamed to say I shed a few tears too when she first auditioned, the battles, then her Dionne Warwick classic. What a woman!

Speaking for myself, when I think of 'Walk On', I immediately think of you and not Ms Warwick. Odd, since I grew up listening to Ms Warwick. Also, once the show is over, please oh please don't disappear but post to your channel here if you're able to. You clearly have an international fan-base and I'm in Australia, so it's not like I/we come and see you at a gig somewhere in the UK. I suspect your singing future is guaranteed whether or not you win. So then please, do what you were born to do: sing. Best wishes from Australia! :-)

Sally and Georgia are by far the best of this series but Sally has a beautiful knockout voice. This version of the song Walk on By was outstanding...pitch perfect and full of emotion.

This evening I watched Ruty win Voice 2018 she was fantastic, like Mo in 2017, I play Sallys work after every final. But again neither remotely comparable to Sally, this gentle force of nature.

She just came out with an EP you can download off Amazon with the whole song on it. I just got it, it's amazing. She also did other songs she sang on The Voice.
