Of all the Fusion stuff on UA-cam, your videos stand out as the most clear and informative. I think the difference is that you tell us not just what to do, but why it's done that way. Nice work.
I watched a previous video on doing 3D. I really enjoyed yours a bit more, for a few reasons. 1. You spoke slower. (Very helpful) 2. You explained what you were doing, why you were doing it, and how it works. (I learn by knowing why something does what it does, you hit the nail on the head for me on that ty) 3. You showed a couple ways how to achieve certain movements. Depending on comfort, and knowledge, was awesome to see the ways if can be done
You have a way of explaining this stuff that is just amazingly easy to grasp. The coffee cup metaphor, your toast and jelly in another fusion tutorial video.....great teaching! Thank you for helping make this all make sense. :)
Been waiting for this! Casey, I need more 3D learning in my life. ILL BUY YOU A COFFEE! Sorry about the all caps there, I'm just super stoked about this vid.
This was such an easy and comprehensive tutorial to comprehend and understand 3D objects in digital space. It would be good to see it used in the context of a video but I'm sure there are more tutorials for that as well.
Thanks so much. Iv'e learned so much about fusion through you. You first introduced me to it and opened up a whole new world of editing to me. Thank you so so so so so much.
Man, I have always used 3D Studio Max for my 3d work and haven't had a chance to learn it in Davinci Resolve yet, but because to you and this tutorial, I feel like it's finally the time to start. Thanks Casey!!
I could really relate to it and then imagine along, best tutorial ever!! With this, not only did i understand the basics i can also think of experimenting it with other elements/nodes in fusion.
Good job. Three years old and still relevant. This raises questions: 1) In the Merge3D1 node I can rotate the text on three axes, but once I output to the next node (Renderer3D1), the text is no longer rotated - at all. Why? I get that it is a 2D rendering, but it should be a 2D rendering of the text in the position that I had rotated it to. 2) How does this look in 3D video?
good job bro keep it up. I began to watch all your videos. please make a video and give some advice to beginners like me, about most mistakes that beginners do in DaVinci resolve, and how we should fix them. you know some fundamental stuff that we should always follow.
Just found your channel. I like your style in teach. Honestly putting off kind of Ryan Reynolds sense of humor in the way you say and explain things. Makes for an entertaining editing channel. You're the bomb! 😉
Hello Casey, great tuto again (for begginers)... But could you make one about HOW TO PUT A 2D LOGO (or text... object...) IN A 3D SCENE (simple footage), RECEIVING SHADOWS OF THE LOGO ON THE GROUND... Would be very interesting for many of us i think. Best ! I can't find anything decent on youtube on it...
I really like the way you make these potentially boring topics fun and engaging to watch and I can see how much effort you put in to make sure that we enjoy the video. Ty dude
Still not sure when the tern “the bomb” became a thing, or if because it’s a thing if I should render it... but your teaching style, yes, it’s the bomb. Thank you!
BRO ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS!? I just realized that I also watch your Destiny 2 videos! Whaaaaaat! I just swapped from using adobe for years to davinci and I have been playing destiny 2 for yeeeaaaarrrrs! I think you just became my favorite UA-camr lol Maybe one day we can do a project together! or who knows even play some destiny lol
Good morning Mr. Casey. I am a follower of your channel. First of all, my congratulations for your great work. I would like to ask you a question. How can I add textures to 3D texts. Like stone textures etc. Thank you very much sir casey
1:03 - You say we can hold Alt + middle click to rotate around. Do you have any idea how this would be done on Mac? Alt = option, but the magic mouse doesn't have a middle button. Gotta love Apple being quirky with its designs : )
this is awesome, worked for me right out of the box, very well explained too. quick question though, if you wanted to anchor your 3d text in a position in the video, is that possible so you walk past the floating 3D text. does that make sense?
Fusion feels like an awesome game inside Resolve :D It is really cool, I can't wait to have some time to play with it :) Thanks for the videos, awesome content.
Your tutorials are short and entertaining and straight to the point. But what will I do with a 3D text if I don’t know how to incorporate it in a video?
Casy, I have been exploring using Davinci Resolve and like using 3D texts. I would give a vote for a tutorial on going deeper into the 3D titling in the program. I have to agree it looks time consuming to makes these texts but I have to remember the time you are using explaining how it works. I would think we could save our node set up and use it again and just change the text. And the text was a little blocky can you add curves to the text. Your coffee cup had bevels on it which makes it look nicer. HA What about transitions or dissolves with 3D texts?
Casey, when I do everything that you said up to the clicking on the rendering, and placing it on the second screen, for some reason my background doesn't show up. Everything else happened as you said, but once it was rendered I saw a transparent background instead of my background color. I was wondering if you can give me some insight into that? Thank you.
How do I get the 3D view camera back? I pressed 1 (or 2) and the 3D view (camera) just vanished from the side-by-side view,. now I can't get it back. :(
Is there a different way I am supposed to merge when overlaying 3d text on top of footage? My footage is stabalized, so the text is tracking to the center of the orignal clip not tracking to the clip after stabilization. I guess my question is how to change the media input node to the edited footage instead of original. Thanks
Great video. However im having a problem right out of the gate. When i make my 3d tex (or any 3d object) and put it in the viewer in the "environment", i can only see the handles, but not the actual object. The text IS THERE because when i connect the merge/renderer, i can see the text in my media output. I have zoomed everywhich way and still cant see any objects in the 3d workspace viewer. Help!!
Nice explanation. -Can i change somehow the position of the 3D view in free version? Because everything defaults to that plane, and i want to adjust it to my clip plane, so everithing starts approximately at the correct position. - Why is ligthing is so buggy with spotligth, sometimes it is flickering, sometimes it dissappears, and after restarting resolve it fixes it self, is there any setting i need to change, or it is just like that until resolve fixes it? For example i can't use roughness because i get black blocks on my render. -Is there an easy way to grab a colour for textured 3D text? (i could not find any ways to do it automatically in colourcorrector node) - I had a project where i changed something and the render turned interpolated... i brougth the composition to an other project and it fixed it, but i still don't know how i did that :D 4:18 directional ligth does not have shadow, only spotligth. By the way, if anyone kills their project, witk 8K texture you can fix it if you remove it from the media pool.
FUCK Finally this was so fucking easy with your descriptions! My lightbulb moment was actually when you talked about how we percieve a 3d image.... of course the nodes are like physical attributes in the real world. Bruh... subbed

I finished this one and made a little logo for myself. Thanks.
i know that im 1 year late to the party here but id love to see more on 3d animations ect. this stuff is amazing.
me: *thinks 3d lettering is difficult and time consuming*
Casey: I'm goanna grab text 3d and drag it down to my nodes
me: 👁👄👁
This was really simple and easy. Wonderful
Hi Casey. I'm new to editing and DR, and I just wanna say your videos have been super helpful with me starting my video editing journey
I could really relate to it and then imagine along, best tutorial ever!!
With this, not only did i understand the basics i can also think of experimenting it with other elements/nodes in fusion.
good stuff, going to use it on my channel
I really like your easy to grab, well rounded explanations on these topics. Thanks a lot!

"She's the bomb" - Rush hour 2.Kudos for simplifying this. Great tutorial
Just found your channel. I like your style in teach. Honestly putting off kind of Ryan Reynolds sense of humor in the way you say and explain things. Makes for an entertaining editing channel. You're the bomb! 😉
It's funny, because it's true 😄. Thanks again for this great explanation.
I don't know if you planned that way, but I learnt way more than just creating a 3D text! Thanks a lot!🙏🙏🙏

Thank you Casey, I was able to create a great 3D title for my latest project while following your guide.

Very simple and helpful Thank You
Really well done simple explanation of 3D. Thanks.

bro you are the best teacher !!!
How do I put this over a video? With all the shadows being correct
'The Bomb!' - Wow, like far out man! (I'm from the 60's)
When you press alt to rotate the text through the Y axis, what is the mac equivalent of pressing alt?
Excellent tutorial Casey, thank you
This is a very well-done tutorial. However, I wish I could have a Zoom session with you to ask you a few questions.
Super easy to execute and spot on! Thank you!
so cute cup and nice tutorial, thank you
your teaching is so good thank you for the video!!!
Yeah we need more 3D tutorials!
These 2 dislikes are from other Davinci Resolve toturials creators.
Great Video👍
I think I've got it now. Thanks.

Sweet video - just want I needed. Thanks.
Herbie Hancock made a song in 1982 called “The Bomb” so I would argue the term started around the beginning of the eighties / late seventies.
more please! what about the bevel, and camera
Love this guy
Plz explain 4th Dimension, Some say its out of this world
This helped me so much thank you!
Your tutorials are short and entertaining and straight to the point. But what will I do with a 3D text if I don’t know how to incorporate it in a video?
Hi Sorry To mention, if you haven't already done it, but applying tracking to the 3d text would be Great. Thank You : )
Could you do a rundown on all 3D nodes and how they can be used?
great vid
best explanation of 3D text
Great info. Excellent explanation of the basics. Gives me a better foundation to build on.

thanks for making this idiotproof and casual, good tutorial
"The Bomb!" . . . started in San Francisco flower power days (1967) as an alternative to "Wicked!" & "Far Out!"
k
Great tutorial. Thanks!
Awesome video. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep it up! ✌️

1:40 AYOOOOOOOO
you make this so easy ..... do you have video's that show all the lighting and/or camera 3d.
this is great. question, how do you Anchor the text to a "layer"?
How do I get the 3D view camera back? I pressed 1 (or 2) and the 3D view (camera) just vanished from the side-by-side view,. now I can't get it back. :(
Could you do a tutorial on the 3d fog effect available in DaVinci 18

you need merge node
90s Rock!!!
Nice bro nice 👌👌👌 #keepfilming

I wanna learn more 3d with fusion its awesome, nice tutorials 🔥
Great Video learning alot - question can you make individual letters spin?
I have some crazy ideas on text I want to try. Thanks in Advance
Thank you, helped me a lot
great explanation, nodes and after effects confuse the hell out of me
Nice explanation.

Is Davinci using a Rasterizer or Pathtracing engine? I guess it's a rasterizer, but it would be cool if its pathtracing
Thank wanna sink deep to this
So once you are finished in fusion- what next? I went to 'cut' and it's black. I don't get it.
This would work too if you brought in your own font right?
More 3D Fusion please! Thanks. :)
u really helped me! U earned my sub
Muy bueno. Gracias!! Te sigo!
Thank you
Great tips
The slang The Bomb as meaning something awesome started to be used in the 1960
