I just relocated a spider that was getting a little too cocky with his webmaking in my backyard. I decamped him from his web, put him in a jar and took him for a short ride to a nice park about 2 miles up the road. I only looked up how far spiders can travel to see if he might ring the doorbell tomorrow morning with reinforcements.
I once picked a huge tiger spider and she climbed on top of my hand, lined up with the wind and shot the thickest sheet of silk I've ever seen, the spider flew away, funniest shit I've ever seen in my life
Currently watching a ton of the little buggers going over my house here in NZ, happens every few years or so... although our ones create a sort of puffy lump 4-5 foot long at the end of theirs, kinda like multipal threads all held together with lots of springy mid connections then a long single thread out the end the spider hangs on... some are 50-60 feet up others are barely visible a good 300 meters up slowly gliding along. Only realised it was happening this year since i found one spiderchute that had landed stuck to a tree 20 minutes ago lol

The truth is that a spider won't go near a sleeping person if they can help it because not only are we big, moving and warm, but our mouths are wet and even warmer so no we don't eat spiders in our sleep.
There is no logical reason to be afraid of spiders. It's just a psychological thing. The vast majority of spiders cannot harm humans in any way. They seem creepy, almost alienlike to us, thats why most people feel repulsion upon seeing them. But in fact, spiders are not only a very important part of the ecosystem, but should also be a welcome one to us. I have a weak case of arachnophobia; because my mother always used to scream her lungs out on seeing a spider when I was very young, at some point I started to be afraid of them too - like, if my mother who knows more about life is afraid of them, I should be too, right? But I started fighting against it. I still feel a kind of disgust especially when I see a specific kind of spiders, namely house spiders (because those were the ones I mostly saw when mom was screaming), but nowadays when I see a tremor spider (I don't know if thats the correct term for them, it's the german name for a certain kind of daddy long legs) building a web in a corner of my room, I let her be. She traps and kills all the fucking mosquitos annoying me in my sleep, why would I get rid of her? She's a useful and therefore welcome guest in my room. I get rid of the fucking mosquitos, she gets food and a warm, dry home. Thats symbiosis :)
