@@maryleebrown467 these shows are great: they exemplify the great Harlem Renaissance of the 30's, 40's, 50's. This show presented the urban NYC social scene. What a great show. How can we whitewash the entertainment scene in Harlem during the 40's and 50's.
I believe it was the blacks back then took offense to the Kingfish character and pressured the NAACP to ax the great show that Jesse Jackson , Redd Foxx etc enjoyed. The cast loved the parts and the pay but the NAACP ax killed it. I'm so grateful that the film was not destroyed back then.
“The Insurance Policy” Season 4, Episode 5, aired 1955. Alvin Childress as Amos, Spencer Williams (Jr.) as Andy, Tim Moore as Kingfish, Ernestine Wade as Sapphire, Johnny Lee as Calhoun, Amos Reese as Mr. Baxter.
Sandra Lee Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll created Amos 'N'Andy.A lot of these episodes were written by Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher who later created and produced Leave it to Beaver and the Munsters.
Maybe it's a dumb question??? But why is the show called Amos and Andy, when almost every episode it's just Andy and Kingfish..... with Amos barely in any episode????
I would rather watch and rewatch these wonderful comedies that are better than current TV shows.
I so appreciate you bringing to UA-cam these program. Good memories.
What a great show. One laugh after another.
This was a great show

This man is the reincarnation of Kingfish...pure con/crook!
Just curious, how many people fell for your deceptive crap?
I love how Kingfish always wears the suit. No matter what the occasion it’s the same old suit.

The dialogue is brilliant ,how this was construed as racist is beyond comprehension.
vito santo Its just exaggerated funny comedy like The Beverly Hillbillies The Three Stooges it's not real life.

On a stem fast diet you could easily lose 30-40lbs in a month.

I enjoy this funny show, but why is it called Amos and Andy when Kingfish is the star?! Amos has such a small role each time!
Seems like the show should be called kingfish. Amos and Andy seem like minor roles, especially Amos. Only seen about 10 episodes.
I have watched about 10 and rarely see Amos. And Amos and Andy practically don't exist as a team!
1/1/55 Season 4 Episode 5
I'm 24 watching this in 2024 because they don't make good shows anymore.
