One question, one issue, and one compliment: - Does the weight of the cubes still allow you to build trees and hanging blocks? - I see stairs and slabs as an issue. - It looks quite portable, a great alternative when away from Minecraft!
Polarity is a big issue here. That’s why it’s better do have the small magnets so they stick on ALL sides. Unless the cube you showed isn’t solid, and has the same polarity on all sides somehow
micro magnet ones are better because in theory you can make any block. stairs. walls. fenses. etc. magnet blocks are limited to the shape of the magnet.
you can still make the non-cube blocks like fences and stairs out of paper and micro magnets, this is indisputably better for the blocks that exist as a full cube though
I used to do this years ago, made mobs, printed a whole bunch of blocks to make the house I usually built in game but the hobby died and they went to waste, there was a papercraft site, made my own skin into a little paper guy too. Seeing these magnetic iterations almost makes me want to pick it back up.
yeah same I used to papercraft anime figurines! At some point it became lame but now I really want to build a sick minecraft house or something out of these blocks, it's such an interesting idea
I wonder if another way to make them would be to create a 3d model of a box that can also open at least on one side. And make the model so that each inner side has a little slot for the magnet. Removable magnets if you run out of them but need them for a different block! And depending on how light the box is, they can still create e.g. longer block bridges than a heavy-ish magnet cube.
PAPER MUST NOT LIVE, ATTACK IT NOW... Jokes aside, thanks man, your comment made my day, I literally burst out laughing when I read your comment and all the replies.
good thinking but plastic could be a bit heavy alongside the paper. i wonder if you could made almost a truss on the inside instead of solid walls? i might look into this…
They're made of paper and small magnets so they can attach to blocks without support, like in minecraft. The magnets you made are heavy and probably can't go more than 3 blocks out before you need a support beam.
Not only that but they are also a lot heavier like that which makes them feel like a quality product and it is more satisfying to play around with them if they are heavy. And they are really stable like that as well and won't be crushed if something falls on them or if you accidentally step on them.
I never grew up on Minecraft (19), but the flowers and trees and waterfalls and grass would be so cool to make. The second these become available as a product (widely and endorsed) I’m buying a ton
@@theplopyt "no" as in not stronger or "no" as in they're actually weaker? also, by "strong" do you mean durability for when you push on them too hard or they fall off your table for example, or strength as in how strong/magnetic the magnets are and how much they can support each other, for example if some are floating as a roof and only have the walls to support them
These would be great to play with for all ages. The good thing about premade magnet cube things is they tend to have ways for the magnets to flip inside the container allowing any face to lock to another.
@@theplopyt how well does this method work out? Is is still compatible with the old magnetic blocks? I imagine you this method doesn't really work with doors and stairs and such
