      Their cards were so bad, especially with each other, they knew their pile of cards wouldn't even be a deck. So, their only chance at winning was to make three separate tricks, and use their comedian training to keep their opponent off balance.

      Does the combo even work though?

    • @xchronox0
      @xchronox0 5 місяців тому +12

      @@2LettersSho Nah, you send it over on the turn it would go to 1 oil counter, not 0. Because if it goes to 0 during your upkeep, you lose no matter who controls it. The ability was put on the stack with you as the controller. So "you" will still refer to you.
      They put it from 2 to 1, then sent it over. Which means Thoralf would automatically lose on his upkeep, no matter how the triggers get stacked.

  • @silviobaiguini69420
    @silviobaiguini69420 5 місяців тому +2

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Archfiend Custody combo doesn't work because Thoralf could stack the triggers so that he gives away the Archfiend first and then the oil counters effect resolves, at which point his opponents control the creature and the effect, and they are the ones to lose. If you are confused about this interaction, there was a Magic puzzle video on this same channel where Jamin had to stack effects in a similar fashion to give control of a "bad" trigger to his opponents. I might be wrong, but this is my understanding of controlling effects.
    Edit: I mean, it WOULD work if the turn they give it away is the same turn the last oil is removed, but it definitely wouldn't work as they think it did at 18:50
    Edit: Nevermind, I just found the video I was thinking of and it's not what I remembered. So I am probably wrong and I misunderstood how such effects work. For context, the video is this one: ua-cam.com/video/OHoJPjtfq2o/v-deo.htmlsi=XSpsc6eoa42pBFof

    All three of those games were great. One of your best videos yet.
    (hoping for more legacy/modern/pioneer/standard though, I loved that content)

    Could Thoralf have given the Archfiend of Dross back before the removal of the last oil counter? Genuinely curious because i thought you could choose which "beginning of upkeep" trigger goes on the stack first. 18:31

    It's so refreshing to see actual deckbuilding that doesn't involve just copying a tier-1 pro deck or being in line with the current meta. The best games have the most diverse decks.

    cast brainstorm, put kiki on top, make 1000 copies, end-step the tokens get sacrificed, 1000 archfiend triggers to lose 2 life?

      @@brendanrobot1 They had glacial chasm yes, but archfiend is lifeloss and not damage, so it works. Chasm does nothing to prevent this.
