I'd love to see a chart of most played/purchased games over time

@Sub 2 me 4 no reason? minecraft
@Sub 2 me 4 no reason? Lol not even close its minecraft and it will always be farming games dont die
@Sub 2 me 4 no reason? no minecraft is first, gta is 2nd
@Sub 2 me 4 no reason?
Minecraft by a landslide
I'm surprised Rocket League never showed up at any point. It felt pretty big for a while, but I guess it just didn't reach that level of popularity.
The game was big, and still sizable audience, but Twitch numbers are sub 10k usually and only spike when RLCS (tier 1 pro scene) is playing, especially with international majors.
I think the Fall Major event got around 80k viewers yesterday on the main channel alone so the community is quite big. Still there are no huge streamers that play rocket league as a main game and for that aspect the title might be a little bit misleading but the description clears things up. Combined watched hours it is, so Rocket League can't outperform other games that have dozens of streamers around the 500-1000 viewer mark streaming whatever popular game for 6 hours straight on a daily basis.
Overwatch
the problem with many (but certainly not all) team sporting games is that the barriers to entry are so low that most viewers prefer to play the game. That is not true of more difficult games where thousands of hours makes you better at the game and/or more enjoyable. When the barriers are low, you don't learn much from watching the best players in the world, and there isn't much anxiety involved in playing vs watching.
Exactly,,, Rocket League probably had just as big of streams but... maybe not as many total streams? It's gotta be close to this list though. The trading in Rocket League was just as big as CS Go, items with real money, Gameflip, I was making $500 a week for 2 years or so trading 6 hours a day and playing another 6 in 2018-19 until Epic ruined the market.
After 2 years it finally came back
Almost 3 actually
The way apex just appeared from nothing to number 1, wow that's a fast blowup!
I can sort of expand on this; Back around before Apex Launched EA/Respawn was being berated in the gaming community due to the poor taste in everyone's mouths from previous launches like Battlefront. So Respawn made the odd move to make ZERO marketing for their game... until launch day.
Where they likely spent 90% of the usual advertising budget on giving streamers sponsorships to play their game. So the MASSIVE viewership on launch was because of the impressive amount of streamers they sponsored to play their game. The game came out with nearly zero warning and zero heads up. They just launched it and practically said "Hey, check it out, it's already out" and Apex Legends was actually really fun and well made! So it's been a successful game ever since.
@@kosamebrandan7646 that's actually a pretty cool way to launch a game! It wouldn't work for every game, especially a series that people expect iterations every few years, but it sounds like it was highly effective for this one.
Apex and Fortnite are temporary, but LoL is eternal
@@kosamebrandan7646 that is all true, sure, but it also collapsed from those heights fairly quickly too. not suggesting it wasn't or isn't a popular game, but the fall from those heights was also unprecedented and, in part, due to the advertising strategy (or lack thereof). Gamers like new shiny toys, but they also need to be reminded why they should keep playing with that new toy. The irony, of course, with Apex is that many streamers prefer it over WZ/Fortnite/et al but there isn't the same views, so they are forced to drop into WZ. Again, poor marketing strategy being the central problem
@@leevikaunismaa9652 Definitely lasted the longest.
Wow man! Is good you're back and grinding. We missed you a lot ❤️❤️
Respect to WoW for always staying consistent
and for LoL
CSGO too
Consistently SHIT ayyooooooo
Love WoW. Wish it would find its way to being king again.
and Dota 2
I can literally watch these forever, so satisfying.
1. How tf did it take Minecraft ~10 years to keep a footing on this list??
2. Good lord I have been underestimating League! Even Arcane barely seemed to make a difference cause it was already so popular.
3. I would love to see some call outs of significant world events during these animations to keep things in perspective, like when COVID lockdowns started, when Arcane aired, when significant live streams happened, etc.
Love your data videos bro ! And, indeed, data IS beautiful!
It is fascinating to see how Among Us came into our lives and then disappeared in no time !
That is exactly what happened irl , sadly. I miss these few months.
THE LEGEND IS BACK!
Welcome back i thought you died! The data legend is back
Omg, you are back! Why did you stop uploading videos? And does your channel have monetization?
Man, the glory days of H1Z1 were amazing while they lasted. A shame the developers pretty much just let it die.
It was good.
Legends never die
Haven't played WoW in my life, but it's good to see such a classic being so good that just new games mostly struggle to hold with hype. WoW and CS too.
Sad how little single player games have interest nowadays compared to microtransaction filled garbage (Some of these are actually fun to play but still have the scummiest practises)
They have been normalised to the point of no return with the excuse of “GaMeS aRe mOrE eXpEnSiVe tO mAkE” despite ceos banking off hundreds of millions in Christmas bonuses
Single player games are far less likely to be streamed for months at a time compared to multiplayer games. Single players games will have a burst of streaming for a week or two but everyone finishes them and moves on to another game.
But Even still we saw a few Single players games pop in and out.
@@Catsrules1 I will never understand watching someone play a game for hours online and giving them money for it instead of playing it themselves 😂
Well I could say the same for singleplayer. Why getting all the spoilers when you could just play the game yourself? Unless you have already played It’s not worth it watching others playing it. At least multiplayer games streams can help you learn other then entertaining
@@sassythesasquatch6847 I never got into the top streamers just playing Fortnite or League of Legends 24/7. But I do watch a few game streamers that stream a many different games, but usually play in some funny or really crazy way. Often leading to hilarious results. From my experience it is less about the game and more about the streamer and chat interaction. Basically your going to get a different experience then if you just play the game yourself.
Thank you for the new video!!!!!!!!!!! ❤
Hope you enjoyed it!
The good days of PUBG on 2017, that was a really good game, always full servers at any time of day to play as much as you can, 2800 hours on Steam, really good moment in my life.
Finally you're here !!!! :D
You're back!!!
Finally came back with a good graphic
Maybe it was foolish of me to hope Stray would pop up briefly when it first popped onto the scene but it was EVERYWHERE for a minute! A GLORIOUS minute!!
Most of those World of Warcraft hours must come from Asmongold! LOL
The good games are good games because they are good, not because they are new
dude, i simply refuse to believe the amung us numbers were that low. it was what felt like literally every streamer for like 9 months.
Well these are streaming platform numbers.
Data is sooo Beautiful
Welcome back!
My beloved WOW refuses to die!!
GTA V is so popular is because of No Pixel RP server. Lots of GTAV RP streamers are quite popular and have made it big!
Surprised to not see "it takes two" here, it was a lockdown banger
Return of the king
It's insane how much more streamed content we watch compared to 2015
Its not insane, its sad 😔
I watched a while for my genres a little bit. But in general... why watch someone else if you can enjoy it yourself. Myy free time is limited, why not use it to play it by yourself. Atleast that gos for me.
Yeah, in 2015 I thought streaming was a dumb thing for kids. Now? It's what saved my life around late 2017 and been a big part of it for 5 years
Amazing that CS:GO is STILL relevant after all these years!!! Great video!
Couldn't agree more!
Bc its a low requiring game, both in hardware and in skill
@@wildeskompositum9556 most of these game on the list have very strong and solid community which making them keep alive and relevant to this day
ゲーム業界って1か月単位で順位が入れ替わるくらい変化が激しいのか
面白いなあ
There are no shortcuts in life
Apex: hold my beer😁
what incredible suspense
and you can see how high these views went up during the covid pandempic and how games that went down in popularity came back as a trending game to play in the streaming world again , like grand theft auto ect . which is cool i find
LOVE these videos that you upload! From this video, I learned that people like to much violence
I think people like competition.
fortnite being a new game and slaying the chart like it did and still does is really impressive , starting this cool of a game for free was a really good market strategies by on paying for what you want in the game instead of the game it's self , i know nothing about marketing and all that but that's what I believe happened , also putting big stars as the skins and big movie themed in theirs seasons made something to look forward to to people who play .. what i know is that the streamers i watch has switched games and never really played again except for among us and fortnite , they are still obsessed w these games and so is theirs chats
Woah dude Apex blew its load all over way too soon, then had to take a nap.
Let's go!!!
Pubg in its prime was so damn fun
Hey. Any chance you could share the data for this one? Interested to know where you got it/scraped it from?
Search for Twitch API data, there're several aggregators. Yotube's data is not open for public.
Wtf YOU'RE BACK?!
yep
I feel you bro
Feels illegal to be this early B-)
I was watching for among us to sneak in with a quick rise and fall.
Minecraft fighting for its life 💀
counter strike so solid after 20 years
Death, Taxes and (Warcraft, CSGO, LoL and GTAV) being top 10 streamed game
I would've thought Sea of Thieves would make a brief appearance. When Summit1G and others popular players like Shroud were playing it and streaming it on twitch. Sometimes it would top number 1 most streamed game and top 5 stream game for about a month that I recall.
Really interesting.
Minecraft was also really consistent. A tiny amount of time missing, but still.
Do one on economic markets throughout the years!
Congratulations on becoming a dad! 😊
Yes! Thank you!
CSGO be like: I never left.
How do u get all the information? What program u use the make the charts
Google for visualization tools. Data for this specific video is from Twitch and YT apis.
@@DataIsBeautifulOfficial ok thank u
Damn I play League since 2014, it's been 8 years.
Oh wow. i was think there will be New World. I admit I'm surprised!
Happy to see Rust make the list.
Being that GTAV is almost 10 years old and the amount of people who still watch it, well obviously it's because of rp's
nice to see heroes of the storm up there briefly
You bet I saw path of exile pop in there for a second. Great game, especially for free.
I was wondering when you were gonna return
can we get a visualisation of most used twitch chat emotes? Kappa
Love how APEX say HELLO GUYS, BYEBYE GUYS, and then slowly get up again XD
Roses are red, violets are blue, doom is eternal, halo may be infinity, but *data is beautiful*
All of those cyber veterans, haha.
It's like I caught ADD just watching this list change.
Damn gta just won’t die lol
GTA 5 still standing despite its age is incredible
FIFA: Hello and bye :D
How do people not get bored of LoL after a certain period of time.
RuneScape!! I saw you! My childhood
4:00 finally a single player game appeared 😭
There was also cyberpunk 2077
what about Elden Ring
How unstable are streaming games data lmao.
PD: Could you make most believed conspiracy theories plz?
That' actually not a bad idea.
League is insane
The sudden influx of Chinese LOL players boom straight to 500 million.
Chinese have their own sgreaming platform tho@@TheVanillatech
@@johnlorenzdiaz1048 They also eat dogs and cats.
World of Warcraft was released in 2004... almost 20 years ago!!!!!
Dota, so sad :'(
wtf typical Dota player always complaining xD
ur post makes no sense :D@@julianojosoa2145
I couldn’t tell you but League or Legions or Apex is, but apparently they’re popular. 😂 I mainly just watch Minecraft.
Apex Legends is basically Fortnite but with specialists
Amazing that GTA is still going so strong so many years later. Looking forward to GTA 6 in 2100 😂
CSGO IS LOVE
CSGO IS LIFE
GTA V domination
The more GTA V gets older, the more it is popular. How?
Roleplay, it just blew up without sense
RP, it's surprisingly fun to do
Also the game got free on EGS for a month in 2021, which made the game greater in popularity
I curious to see if Starfield will crack this list.
2:36
AMOGUS
Out of all those games I've only played Gta5 and Dead by daylight
tibia is the best game of all time xd
At what variables are we looking at exactly?
Amount of hours watched per month.
What’s the five game

I love how the numbers are going down, but the data is going up
10,000 games to spread around, yep.
Streamed or watched? Title and description are kinda conflicting.
Watched
Funny how the nearly 10 yr old GTAV rides up and smashed all the other new games again and again. Such varied gameplay thanks to the modding community, on PC
True
Overwatch goes back and forth between the top 5 and then it's no longer there, then it comes back xd
Funny how once GTA5 came to PC it took off
HOTS one love
