Thanks for showing this my friend , no wiring diagrams ,no service info and then scantool coverage problems , lots would have given up pretty quick with it , thanks again.
Crazy how programming can restore the windows :-D As the TSB says, do not replace any parts, do only recoding of the module. In the new era of 100 modules one scanntool is sometimes not enough. Still impressive work you done.
Thanks for sharing. I’ve been looking to update my launch but the more i search the more confused i get. I guess its a challenge that only going to get worse. Nice to have friends with different tools. I know techs i follow also call Mathew S often. Seems very knowledgeable on computer programming. Have a good one my friend 👍
Great video! I really like how you share real world scenarios, the successes along with the drawbacks we run into. What really gets me thinking at times is why it takes so long for these TSB symptoms to come about. This is a great example. Your TSB is from 15 years ago…you cannot tell me these windows havent worked for that long so why does it take so long for them to require the software update???
Great educational video. I got 2008 Mercedes Benz S63 AMG with identical power windows closing and opening not functioning on 3 doors. Only the driver`s side window works fine. Pretty much copy and paste issue.🙁
I ended up getting this vehicle fixed. As you seen in the video the software update fixed the front right but bricked the rears. I got some used modules off eBay and got the rears working. My advice would be to have the dealer update the modules.
That's a known issue for S-Class and CL. You can update the modules with Xentry when offline programming is active and you have a SDFlash DVD that contains the update...there are SDFlash collections from all the last years.. (or let it be done at the dealer). Think Xentry automaticly first reads the coding, then makes the update and after it codes it again with the data read before. For your rear doors I think you can activate soft-close by manually code it to be active again. It seems to just have the standard coding since soft-close was an option to pay for. Best regards from germany. PS Very interesting videos...impressive 👍
Really enjoy your videos, always seem to learn something. Thanks for taking the time to put them together. I hear the Iscan 3 is suppose to be really good with Mercedes. Apparently their remote programming uses factory Mercedes equipment if the tool won’t program something on its own, they can remote in and I guess do the same things the dealer could do. We have an old blue box autologic but they say they can’t remote in and program Mercedes for some reason. Guess Mercedes just likes to make things difficult for the aftermarket.
Thermal fuse, so they must have circuit breakers built into them. Youre brave to even take on these cars, lol. Great video. Its too bad Autel doesnt allow a paid update type of idea, instead of having to buy another whole scan tool. I mean there just tablets, I asked them about it, and nope, gotta buy another scan tool. Why do we all need 10 scan tools? And then over a $100 per year to keep them all updated.

Now that was very interesting. Thank you. Since you use Autel maybe they will get wind of this and send you one. It would definitely be for their benefit. I use a 906 and I like it but there are things it will not do too.
Dang that's weird that the door modules just "failed" from age and a reprogramming can make them function as good as new again! Almost like it was designed to fail so the customer would be inclined to trade it in on a new one haha xD Did the customer still have to take it to the dealer to reprogram the rear doors?
Really weird! How can it need to be reprogrammed? Now, not only modules can go bad, but also change the programmed data? And even the scan tool can let you down. A nightmare for shops. Great effort, nonetheless!
Just the fact that all three windows don't work; it makes me think that it's the master control in the drivers door. Because what are the odds that they all fail at the same time- not likely. Some cars send their passenger door wires to the BCM, but others will send it straight to the master control in the drivers door as a gateway; I'm eager to see how this one is designed.
@@autodiagyt Interesting. Probably because every window has the auto feature. I know on our 2010 Dodge Nitro, Even in the drivers door switch panel the passenger windows are just a brute looking mechanical switch with large pieces of metal in them, but the drivers switch is a digital circuit board, with delicate little touch pad switches (along with mirror controls)-- and those are what always fail on this car; and the only real difference is: it can auto-roll down. I'd rather just have all four being the older style analog mechanical switches. You can just tell they are far more robust and there is no programming involved. Leave it to Mercedes to have way too many modules. lol.
Wish I could have told you that Autel does not have the software for rear windows. I still have window issues with my S600. I sold my Autel. You need MB software
These vehicles are becoming more and more needing factory scan tools specific. Especially with the programming. Must be getting more and more expensive to work on all these models properly for outside shops.

That’s the same question I wanted to ask.
I want to thank you because I benefit a lot from your work, and also you help us avoid mistakes that we might make

I did exactly this on my shop this week!!
Do that on the s-class with launch tab 2, euro version of pad-v. Works great. Thank you for the video.

I've got an Autel Ultra. And I just ordered a TopDon Pheonix max. Both for the reason you just found.
I enjoy your videos and like how you don’t have stupid intro music 😁

If updates cost $100 per year we’d be lucky. Try $350 per year MINIMUM.
Pretty smart diagnosis

wow good one .i wonder if the those window regulators module had software corupt by low voltage .thanks good video

Fantastic job man... And good findings there
But what did you do with the rear doors, could you solve that issue,or take it to the dealer to reprogram?
I'm curious about Mario's comment on this case study.
Which scanner would you recommend Autel Ms919 or Topdon?

Nice one , great videos, thanks
awesome job my friend 👍
coding the door module on the back is a option here ?
how did you get the rear windows to start working if the new file did not work.
What year & model is this mercedes?

Any one know if the launch pad 5 is capable of programming the rear doors?

Yeah I ended up replacing the rear door modules lol.
i have im608 for keys also have the ultra and it does lots for bmw and mercedes
Great video

Next time if you get M-Benz, feel free to reach out to me I should be able to get you MB OE wiring diagrams :) (for the most MY I should have it) -

Mercedes doesn't share or cooperate with anyone not Mercedes Certified...
(My understanding)
I don’t believe that’s legal with right to repair
