Highly recommend a Recall. With all that extra land in hand, you can retrieve anything u wish in the graveyard. (And keep the deserts). Great videos. Thanks!
Another great video, Tim! Regarding Mishras, I definitely think it's stronger than Desert, even defensively. That being said, I often run both in mono-colored control decks (even with playing 4x Strip Mine). I'd recommend cutting 2x Islands and 2x Desert for 4x Mishra's. 15 blue sources should be enough with only needing the double blue early on for Counterspell.
Moriz Senft that is tolaria, I believe. Not an island. Its from legends and you can tap it for a blue mana, or tap it during your upkeep to remove banding from a creature until end of turn.
Nice game and great commentary, especially the explanation of the decks! You have my respect for playing non-powered decks that stay away from the beaten path. If you want to win by dealing damage, have you considered including Psionic Blast? In many rounds, you had a lot of unspent mana, could it be interesting to look into Dance of Many (from the Dark) as an add-on/alternative to Clone? CONS - It has an upkeep; - It may be a bit more vulnerable as the enchantment can be detroyed. PROS - It can be cast very early on (also on that second term Juzam or Su-Chi from your opponent); - You can easily get rid of it when the upkeep becomes too much of a burden; - It defintely scores you some cool points in the format ;-)
I have definitely considered playing with the blasts, I think it would do very well in this deck for exactly that reason. Dance of Many is also a very interesting option and worth a try. 👍
This Field of Dreams deck was brutal, it actually makes me think that it's more powerful than it is given credit for... Milling the threats you don't have the answers to and countering/stealing everything else! Probably it's not played so much because of its vulnerability to U/W control...
U/W control is so difficult to play against (and a little boring 😂), but it’s so good. Especially when you combine it with some cheap creatures, lions and dibs. Making it easier to play and usually more effective (I guess that’s the Lauter brew).
True, on the other hand there are so many cards that are difficult to play against. Blue power can feel super broken and what about Library of Alexandria? I usually discuss beforehand what kind of decks we're going to play with (tier 1, 2 or spice brew) and when I participate in a tournament, I make sure I build around these cards the best I can. For example, Wheel of Fortune and Balance are great cards to get back from a twist. I also like to take on a fully powered brew with an underpowered deck. Usually I lose, but when you win, it's a great feeling :D What kind of deck do you play with?
@@TimmytheSorcerer I have 6 built right now. I have 3 Revised Only decks built - Mono-Black, Mono-White, and Blue/Green. For "Regular" Old School I have Mono-Red Dragons (with Nalathni), Mono-Blue Land Equilibrium (The only deck that uses power and 0 counters), and a White-Brown/Workshop deck I'm trying to build using Martyrs of Korlis, Arfifact Ward, CoP: Artifact and a ton of Artifacts that do damage to me/everyone like Copper Tablet, Armageddon Clock, Ankhs, and even Bottles!!
f1rstLegion consider a few mana vaults for your white/brown deck. I have one too and love mana vault in it. Also I don’t recommend CoP artifact as it’s too expensive (just my experience). Artifact ward is ok, but not great. Try divine offering and a clergy of the holy nimbus. Best of luck!
@@patrickrusca5950 Clergy would be fun for sure! I actually do have 4 Vaults in there already. Along with 4 Martyrs, 4 tables, 2 clocks, 2 wards, 4 Ankhs, 4 Bottles, 4 Swords, 4 Disenchants, 4 Vices, 2 Offerings, 1 Sol Ring, and 1 Balance. Running 3 Workshops, 4 Factories, a Library, a karakas, and a bunch of plains right now.
Sindbad makes me think that the splash for Sylvan Library is the right plan, and you get Regrowth for what it's worth( if you were running a Time Twister ). Trade out Desert for Factory. I would pull one land and one Fellwar Stone and put in two Mana Vaults. Another place to get some more versatility is to trade out Clones for more Vesuvan Doppelgangers. It's not limited at the time of casting to just what's in play. Being able to switch what it's copying is just too handy. In this match maybe a Feldon's Cane or two in the sideboard would have been nice. Also someone else mentioned Energy Flux, that would be great in the board for sure. Mana Short is a card that powerless mono blue should at least consider. They didn't call it a "Poor Man's Time Walk" for nothin'. Especially when your opponent has all four Factories in play.
Thanks for the useful feedback and I agree with you about adding green. Sylvan and Sindbad make a great team. However, I want to keep it mono blue for now. Mana short is a great plan, maybe I can trade for one. The reason I don't play Energy Flux main is because of the stones and the towers, but I could add it to the SB. At the moment I play with steal artifact, because it fits in with the flavour, but it's never really useful (unfortunately, because it's such a cool card).
Nice games, though it seemed to you were fighting a losing battle. That Field of Dreams/Mill of Dreams archetype is really hard to beat once it is running. It is creatureless (most Decks of that kind i came across were, with the exception of Mishra's Factory of course) but one will get bled out of cards. Since you're playing mono blue, Energy Flux might be a solution, at least it might slow down the milling process. I've seen some Energy Flux even main deck lately.Yet it will shut down your Fellwar Stones too. Maybe you should exchange the Deserts for Factories as they provide some offensive Power, especially against a creatureless build. That REB was really agonizing to watch, even in front of my screen...
Thanks for the feedback and I think you're right about the factories. That REB was such a killer indeed! I was so happy that I managed to draw that card and thought I could cast it, but.... 😵
Then again, this match shows that Mishra's Factory is busted, it's literally in every deck. Blue doesn't have answers to it - can't counter, can't Control Magic it... Uncounterable, free, and Immune to anything but instants. :(
It’s very hard to deal with as a blue players. Psi blast is the best option and/or play with them yourself. A cool solution is Phantasmal Terrain, but you really miss a cheap option to destroy a land, enchantment or artifact (to make matters worse, energy flux also has 0 effect) when you play mono blue.

That's a great idea with all that land and the Sindbad also milling away a useful spell or two.. Thanks 👍
Definitely agree...with the digging effect, and free lands, Recall would fit in nicely.
Another great video, Tim!

Interesting plan and worth a try. I guess my fear is that I won't have enough islands to counter early game, but I can give it a try def.
Why would you thumbs down this video?! Great content as usual. Thanks!
🍻👍
Game two turn 1 is brutal! Love watching those starts though.
nice game!! maybe stupid question, which island is that u r playing first turn

I've made the decision to not play Mind Twist in any of my decks anymore. It really just takes the fun out of it for everyone...

f1rstLegion Oh, I almost forgot. I play with an Armageddon and of course 4 swords! It actually isn’t too bad.

Too bad you couldt beat the dreams deck. I agree on changing the dessert for factories.
Field is hilarious, once it gets rolling its genuinely tough.

Could consider Feldon's Cane, possibly Tormod's Crypt, in the sideboard for such matchups.
Sinbad attacks!

Timmy deck is fun but a bit too slow and underpowered imo.
Work in progress 😎
