  • What was it like to be a 10-year-old on December 7, 1941? Junior Bows Chaeley Torcuato, Geneva Kapferman, and Zoemi Kennedy found out when they interviewed JCCH volunteer Jane Kurahara. That Sunday, Jane woke up to see her worried parents listening to the news on the radio. An anti-aircraft round detonated nearby, waking Jane's younger brother and terrifying him. Jane also describes daily life afterward, which included the implementation of martial law, the takeover of her school campus by the military, and ways the citizenry could show patriotism.
Mahalo to Jane for sharing stories from her life and experiences and mahalo to these students for sharing their work!
