MOST UNDERRATED FREE CAMPING IN COLORADO | Canon City and Royal Gorge Bridge Colorado

- Our journey continues from Canon City to Royal Gorge Bridge in Colorado.
Completed in 1929, Royal Gorge Bridge once was the longest suspension bridge in the world. Today, it holds the title as the highest bridge in the United States, and it is quite impressive to see.
Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is a popular Colorado tourist attraction where you can walk across the gorge on the bridge, as well as hop on one of the adrenaline-pumping rides.
We saw someone get stuck while doing the Royal Gorge zipline. Oops.
Not far from the Bridge is Royal Gorge Park East Ridge Campground. It is a beautiful (and free) campground. We ended up staying for a few days and managed to do some hiking and cooking while staying there.
It is highly recommended to stay at this 'most underrated free camping in Colorado'!

Michael and Halef live in Atlanta, GA, but are originally from Canada and Indonesia, respectively. They love to travel and try to do it as much as possible. They saved for a few years and are currently on a long-term round the world trip!

Not cheap but worth it. The view is better on the bridge and the gondolas. Beautiful trails and views. We had a small herd of wild bighorn sheep about 5' away from us. Standing on the bridge looking down at the gorge underneath you, feels different than standing on the land looking at it. I'm glad I went.
Ohh we still have not seen bighorn sheep yet 🤔
Another great place to camp just east of Canon City and north of Highway 50 is Phantom Canyon. Beautiful rocky canyon that is a total surprise in the area with many primitive camping sites. Very narrow dirt road that might be difficult for a large vehicle. Very secluded and peaceful. Traveling north up Phantom Canyon Road takes you to Cripple Creek. Enjoyed the video. Stay safe.

For sure - Colorado is absolutely gorgeous, and there are so many things to see and to do there!
You will visit Colorado someday, but at least you can enjoy Switzerland (and EU) for now!

COLORADO!!! My favorite state. We visited Royal Gorge back in 2017 with our 3 year old daughter. We couldn't do such long trail-walk but that place is really awesome. I can see how tough the trail-walk was... Kana passed out afterward 😊😊 Safe trip home, if you guys aren't back yet!!

I was there at the Royal Gorge free campsite. And just like you I refuse to pay $30 just to walk on that bridge. What a rip off! Although I still enjoyed my time there camping. Cheers!

You guys are driving a giant gas/diesel guzzling RV, and you're complaining about $30? There's all kinds of stuff to do on the other side. And the view IS NOT the same from the platform or out front of the entrance. It is an epic experience. It's really too bad that you're too cheap.
