The Choctaw people are a very special part of Irish history. Ive told my kids how these amazing people helped the Ireland during the famine (genocide) when many didn't. As a child and an adult i still pray for them every night. ❤

Two minutes isn't nearly enough time to tell their incredible story. I am Chickasaw with Choctaw and Creek ancestry. The Choctaw are our brothers. We were once united as one tribe that originated from the Northwest and Mexico. Our tribes share land beside each other In Oklahoma. The generosity and compassion of the Choctaw people are legendary.

I just found that I have Choctaw Ancestry. I was adopted, and I do not know who my biological mothers name beyond Gail. She was born and raised in Anton Oklahoma. Buried there. I just don't know her maiden name to fined out who she is. I was born May 30th 64. My biological last name was Hughey. I'm told her family is Choctaw. Maybe someone reading this can tell me how I can find out this information.

Yes, there is so much to know about each Native American tribe. But as a third grade teacher, short clips like this are a good way to introduce a unit or lesson to get students interested in knowing more about a topic. It's a start to a deeper dive into learning so it does have merit for children and the people who teach them.
